Captain Mark Jacobs and his crews' consciousness uploaded, and their bodies stored in stasis to embark on the first interstellar ship to Proxima B.

"Awake."

Jacobs found himself in a blindingly bright white room.

"Where am I?" His voice gurgled.

"What’s your name?"

"Captain, Mark Jacobs, SF8745."

"Captain, your ship collided with an asteroid. We discovered your consciousness boxes."

"But how am I alive?"

"Fortunately for you, Captain, we're immortals. We grow ourselves and transfer consciousness just like we did for you to continue our existence."

"My body, it's, it's ... ?"

"Disintegrated, Captain. Can you raise your front tentacles?"
