Chapter 30: Chapter 30
The tension in the air was not limited to the two Kage in Kumo. Across the planet, Naruto sensed the ominous presence of the meteor as it entered the atmosphere. Without hesitation, he ascended into the sky, flying directly toward the unidentified object.
With a single tap of his hand, a black sphere of death—his Truth-Seeking Ball—expanded outward, consuming the meteor in its entirety and erasing it from existence. However, just before the meteor was destroyed, something managed to escape.
Hovering in the air before him was a strange, pulsating mass—a purple crystal enshrouded by a viscous blend of red, black, and light blue slime. The mass began to shift, taking on a humanoid shape. When the transformation completed, the creature stood dominantly red with a light blue face and three glowing blue dots arranged in a triangular pattern on its back. A sharp purple stripe ran down the center of its face, and at the center of its chest, embedded like a core, was the crystalline organ it had carried within the meteor. Its white, circular eyes rested in black, rectangular sockets, giving it an eerie but almost curious expression.
Naruto examined the creature closely, trying to determine what it was, but it was unlike anything he had encountered before—not even the Otsutsuki had forms like this. The creature regarded him briefly before turning away in a sudden attempt to flee.
As it fled, the being launched a ball of psychic energy, likely intending to create an opening. Naruto reacted instantly, summoning a black shield to neutralize the attack, reducing it to harmless energy particles. Before it could escape further, he extended a chakra hand and captured the strange slime-like entity with ease.
Despite his calm exterior, Naruto felt an unexplainable sense of danger emanating from the being. It wasn't malicious or outright aggressive, but something about its very nature was unsettling. More than that, he felt a deep sadness and loneliness radiating from it. This creature wasn't just an anomaly—it was a sentient lifeform.
"Can you talk?" Naruto asked directly, his voice calm as he extended his consciousness to communicate telepathically.
The response he received wasn't verbal but instead a flood of fragmented thoughts and emotions. The creature had little understanding of language or communication. Through its fragmented memories, Naruto learned that it had spent most of its existence drifting through the cold, dark void of space, surviving against all odds.
Naruto pieced together more of its story: it was a virus—an organism that infected and consumed everything it touched. Living beings crystallized on contact with it, their bodies turning to dust in the aftermath. Entire planets had been wiped out in its wake as it traveled the universe, adapting and evolving to survive. Over time, it had developed intelligence, mutating further until it gained the humanoid form it now wore.
The realization left Naruto conflicted. The creature wasn't attacking out of malice; it was simply trying to survive. And yet, its very existence posed an enormous threat to all living things.
Naruto's hesitation was cut short when the creature's voice rang out, its tone desperate and pleading. "Don't kill me!" it cried, its fear and apprehension pouring into Naruto's mind.
Naruto's resolve softened as he saw the being for what it truly was: not a monster, but a lonely, frightened creature, cursed by its nature. "Calm down," he reassured it, his voice steady. "I won't kill you."
Closing the distance, Naruto reached out and placed a hand on the creature. Instantly, he felt its infectious nature attacking his cells. If not for the protective power of the Six Paths chakra coursing through him, his body would have crystallized, leaving him powerless and vulnerable. Even with his divine abilities, he could feel the strain—the creature's infection was unlike anything he had ever faced.
Naruto withdrew his hand and spoke again. "I can't let you stay here. You're too dangerous. But I won't leave you alone, either. I'll send you somewhere where you can live without hurting others, and I'll visit you. I promise."
The creature, though hesitant, seemed to trust his words. But before Naruto could act, it teleported a few miles away, its fear driving it to flee. In an instant, Naruto closed the distance, recapturing it with his chakra hand. This time, there was no escape. He summoned one of the dimensions left behind by Kaguya and sealed the being there—a realm devoid of other lifeforms, where the virus could no longer pose a threat.
As the creature disappeared into the dimensional rift, Naruto sighed, his thoughts heavy. There are other beings out there—besides us and the Otsutsuki, he mused. The sudden arrival of the creature had felt coincidental, but Naruto couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it.
What he didn't know was that the planet's protective barrier, once reinforced by the Juubi's containment within the moon, had been destroyed during its release. And now, the universe seemed to be reaching out to the planet once again, bringing with it new threats and challenges unlike anything Naruto had faced before.
The barrier protecting the Earth had not been the only casualty of the war. On the moon, a remnant of the human-Otsutsuki clan—the planet's primary defense against extraterrestrial threats—had also been irrevocably impacted. For centuries, the moon had served as both a prison for the Juubi, its core forming the heart of the celestial body, and a sanctuary for the clan entrusted with watching over it. The Otsutsuki had hollowed out a portion of the moon's surface to create a peaceful haven, far removed from the conflicts of Earth.
However, peace among the Otsutsuki was fleeting. Like all humans, they succumbed to discord. A rift formed within the clan: one faction believed that Earth's decline and its deviation from the Sage of Six Paths' teachings warranted intervention—they should conquer and guide the planet. The opposing faction, steadfast in their belief that the clan's duty was merely to observe and protect, refused to interfere.
The disagreement spiraled into a brutal civil war, and the once-proud clan annihilated itself. In the end, only one survivor remained—Toneri Otsutsuki, a young man burdened with the solemn duty of safeguarding Earth from external threats. As was tradition among his people, Toneri had embedded his own eyes into the moon's core, an act that granted him a connection to the celestial defense system while leaving him physically blind. From his sanctuary, Toneri had spent his life silently watching over the planet, a solitary sentinel amidst the void.
But the peace of his vigil was shattered with the release of the Juubi. The sight of the beast's reemergence on Earth enraged him, for it was a direct affront to his people's sacrifice and the duty entrusted to him. He had been prepared to act, to descend upon the world and set things right. Yet, as he watched, his anger turned to helplessness.
Madara Uchiha had risen to power, his strength surpassing anything Toneri could contend with. Then came Kaguya Otsutsuki herself, her presence a grim reminder of Toneri's insignificance. And finally, Naruto Uzumaki—the man who had inherited and surpassed the Sage of Six Paths' legacy—proved to be an overwhelming force, far beyond what Toneri had ever dreamed possible.
Toneri's sense of purpose eroded. The importance of his role, once absolute, now felt like a cruel illusion. Humanity had not only ignored the teachings of his ancestors but had desecrated them, plunging into chaos and conflict. It was this disillusionment, combined with his growing bitterness, that led Toneri to a decision—he would no longer stand by idly.
The destruction of the barrier caused by the Juubi's release had unintended consequences: it exposed the location of Hamura Otsutsuki's eyes. Hamura, the Sage of Six Paths' brother, had left behind a pair of legendary eyes known as the Tenseigan. These eyes, said to rival the Rinnegan in power, had been hidden on the moon, awaiting a worthy successor.
Driven by anger and a desire to reclaim his significance, Toneri found the Tenseigan and transplanted them into his own body. But the power they granted was overwhelming, and his body struggled to adapt to the surge of chakra and abilities they brought. The transformation left him in a fragile state, his eyes covered to shield them as they adjusted. Even his Otsutsuki-enhanced chakra control faltered, leaving him unable to use it to perceive the world as he once had. Toneri, for the first time, was truly blind.
In his weakened state, he chose inaction. Foreign creatures began to infiltrate Earth in the absence of the barrier, but Toneri saw this as an opportunity. These invaders posed no threat to him directly, and their presence provided a chance for him to observe and grow stronger as his body adapted to the Tenseigan's power.
Toneri felt no responsibility for the Earth or its inhabitants anymore. To him, humanity had already failed the legacy of the Sage and Hamura. His apathy toward their struggles allowed him to focus solely on himself. As he lingered in isolation, Toneri's thoughts grew darker, his resentment festering. The power of the Tenseigan would soon be his to command, and when the time came, he vowed to reshape the fate of Earth—not as its protector, but as its ruler.
The night was calm in Konoha, with the village basking in the serene moonlight. Inside her home, Hinata Hyuga rested peacefully after an intense training session with Naruto. Since becoming the Vessel of Matatabi, the Two-Tails Beast, Hinata's strength had surged, elevating her to a position of great responsibility as one of the chosen guardians of the village.
Though she knew her newfound power was minuscule compared to Naruto's godlike abilities, it was more than she could have ever dreamed of. It was a step closer to him, a step closer to fighting alongside him, and, more importantly, a step closer to sharing his burdens. With unwavering determination, Hinata had begun conversing with Matatabi, seeking ways to bridge the seemingly insurmountable gap between her and Naruto's strength.
Her dreams were filled with hopeful visions of standing beside Naruto as his equal, helping him fulfill his goals of world peace and achieving his ultimate aspiration of becoming Hokage. But as she slumbered, a strange, haunting voice echoed in her mind, disrupting the tranquility.
"Byakugan Princess, a threat grows inside the moon. Hurry..."
The voice was ancient, resonating with an otherworldly tone. It vanished as abruptly as it had appeared, but it left its mark. Hinata's eyes snapped open, her body tense. The message was unlike anything she had ever experienced.
'What was that?' Hinata thought, scanning her surroundings. She instinctively activated her Byakugan, her pale lavender eyes widening as they expanded their vision across the village. The world opened up to her in fine detail, extending 20 kilometers in every direction, but she found nothing amiss.
"Matatabi, did you hear that?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
The giant tiger stirred groggily within her subconscious. "What? Hear what?" Matatabi replied, clearly having been sound asleep.
"It was an old voice. It said something about a threat on the moon," Hinata explained, attempting to mimic the voice's tone.
Matatabi listened carefully, though she didn't recognize the voice. "Hmm, it might've been a dream... but it might also be true. We should tell Naruto," she advised.
Hinata nodded, trusting Matatabi's wisdom. However, the mention of the moon made her curious. "What's on the moon?"
"The Juubi's husk was sealed there a long time ago. And some of the Otsutsuki clan—descendants of the human side—live there. That's all I know. If this warning is real, it could involve them," Matatabi explained.
Realizing the potential danger, Hinata wasted no time. She quickly dressed and ran toward Naruto's home, her heart pounding with urgency. The streets of Konoha were quiet, the soft chirping of crickets the only sound accompanying her hurried footsteps. But just as Naruto's house came into view, an eerie presence stopped her in her tracks.
Emerging from the shadows was a figure cloaked in darkness, radiating an ominous energy that made her freeze. Before Hinata could react, the stranger stepped forward and lightly tapped her forehead.
The moment his finger touched her skin, a black cube formed on her forehead, spreading like a seal over her body. Her chakra was instantly severed, leaving her powerless and disoriented. She couldn't even summon Matatabi's strength to fight back.
"Wha—?" Hinata gasped, her voice trembling.
Before she could comprehend what was happening, she was teleported to an unfamiliar place.
'Fight each other and make this fruit the best I ever had.' Ishiki smiled as he vanished from Konoha, leaving no trace.
Hinata finally began to take in her surroundings, her lavender eyes scanning the alien landscape. The lake before her shimmered under a strange, unfamiliar sky, its surface reflecting faintly glowing celestial patterns. The air was cool, almost eerily still, and the ground beneath her feet felt unlike anything she'd known—smooth but slightly pliable, as though it were alive.
But her unfamiliar surroundings weren't the issue. What truly worried Hinata was the suffocating emptiness inside her. Her chakra was gone—sealed away by the mysterious cube that now adorned her forehead—and her connection to Matatabi had been severed. She felt as if a part of her very soul had been silenced.
Panic began to creep in, but Hinata forced herself to stay calm. Years of training and her unwavering will to protect others wouldn't allow her to crumble under pressure. She knelt by the lake and splashed her face with its icy water, hoping to clear her mind.
As she leaned closer to the water's surface, her reflection caught her attention. There, on her forehead, was the black cube, its edges faintly glowing with a malevolent energy. She touched it gingerly, the surface smooth and unyielding, and immediately understood that it was the source of her troubles.
"This must be the seal," she murmured to herself, her voice echoing faintly in the silence.
Hinata's heart sank as she realized she had no knowledge of how to break it. Seals of this complexity were far beyond her expertise. Her situation felt dire, and for a moment, stress threatened to overwhelm her. But she refused to let despair take hold.
Determined to do something—anything—Hinata decided to try the most direct method she could think of. She reached into her pouch and retrieved a kunai. Holding it firmly, she stared at her reflection in the water, steeling herself for what she was about to do.
"If this seal is blocking me, maybe I can break it," she thought, her hands trembling slightly.
With a deep breath, she pressed the kunai to her forehead and made a swift, deliberate cut across the mark. Pain shot through her, sharp and immediate, as blood trickled down her face and dripped into the lake below. She winced, gripping the kunai tightly to keep herself steady.
But when she looked at her reflection again, the seal remained unbroken.
The mark seemed impervious to her attempt, its dark glow almost mocking her efforts. All she had managed to do was injure herself, and the pain was far greater than she had anticipated. Hinata bit her lip to keep from crying out, knowing that she had no medical supplies with her.
Quickly tearing a strip of fabric from her dress, she wrapped it around her forehead to stop the bleeding. Her hands shook as she tied the makeshift bandage in place, but her resolve remained firm.
'I have to keep going,' she thought, ignoring the throbbing pain. 'I can't give up now.'
Even in this moment, her thoughts weren't focused on her own suffering. Instead, she worried about her friends, her family, and Naruto. Were they safe? Did they know what had happened to her? She prayed silently that they were unharmed, even as she pushed herself to her feet.
Despite the overwhelming odds, Hinata began to explore the strange world around her. She moved carefully, her senses alert, hoping to find some clue or a way to reestablish contact with her home. Each step was deliberate, her determination unwavering.
The path ahead was uncertain, but Hinata knew one thing for sure—she would find her way back. No matter what it took, she would return to Naruto and her loved ones. And if a threat truly loomed over the world, she would do everything in her power to stop it.
