Elven Legacy

Chapter 361: Chapter 361: Elif Vs Maria

Watching Brother get teleported into the spire with a beam of bright light, he stood in a large white room and faced his first opponent, though befitting of his power, he promptly killed him before he could even fully open his eyes. That was how several of his fights went; it would take some time until he encountered someone strong enough that could react to his initial attack, and until then, he'd be killing his every opponent with ease.

Shifting my focus, I glanced at Brother's three servants, Marley, Idonea, and Ember, who were both easily killing their competition, though Ember, on the other hand, was having difficulty with just the second opponent; honestly, Ember just had a very low cultivation base compared to everyone else because of her young age, so it was a little unfair, but there wasn't anything to be done about that.

'Well, she could enter a realm or dimension with swifter time dilation, but that is for Brother and Ember to figure out, not me.' Thought Elaine slightly as she rested her chin on her hand, which had been propped up onto the armrest while her lustrous hair fluttered in the wind.

Regarding Sarah, let's just say she was having an even tougher time than Ember; while she may have slightly superior cultivation compared to her, it was only by a few minor realms, not to mention that, unlike Sarah, Ember was decently talented and constantly trained. So, despite the inferior cultivation base, Ember was doing leagues better than Sarah, who was having a tough time against merely the first opponent.

"Sarah, please, you're a friend, so I beg of you… Make it to the second opponent at the very least." Muttered Elaine softly as she watched Sarah struggle her heart out against the projection, not wishing to bring shame to the Elven Empire.

Shifting my focus to Brother, who made the enemies in the spire look akin to children, I turned my head and glanced at Maxim, who I noticed happened to be holding Hokori's scabbard, which did slightly take me back when considering how he felt about Maxim; it reminded of the hate a child had for someone or something, it was very petty, but it didn't look like Brother would change his mind any time soon.

"What happened while I was in the spire? Why is Brother so furious?" Asked Elaine curiously as she glanced at Maxm, who wryly smiled before summoning a crystal ball from his dimension ring, causing her to raise an eyebrow.

"The cause for his Highnessess anger is in here, your Highness." Replied Maxim with a slight bow as he handed Elaine the crystal ball, causing her to frown slightly and stare at it before nodding.

Sending a small piece of my divine sense into the crystal ball, I watched both the video it contained and Brother, who was in the spire, an easy feat for any cultivator; though, while watching the video, I subtly furrowed my brows when I saw that Comet was about to defeat Mother. However, that turned out to be the least of my worries as right before defeating her projection, he grabbed Mother by her chin and passionately kissed her, their tongues interlocking for numerous seconds before he finally ended the projection's life.

'HAHAHA! Call me Daddy, you fucker Elif!' Said Comet with a wicked smile as he gazed up toward the sky, yet before the crystal ball could continue playing, a crack was heard.

Crushing the crystal ball into my hand, I had Maxim wipe my hand clean while I shifted my attention towards the coliseum, searching for Comet, though unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found; not even my divine sense managed to locate him.

"Has Brother already killed him?" Asked Elaine calmly as she turned and glanced at Maxim, who reluctantly shook his head.

"No, your Highness, His Highness, unfortunately, didn't manage to kill him; however, it isn't that he did not try; it's because an incredibly powerful cultivator protected him from a distance." Replied Maxim with a slight bow while Elaine faintly nodded with a calm expression.

"Not just any cultivator, though; it was Sect Master Charuli. I vividly remember his Qi and voice from long ago. I would not mistake it." Stated Illumia solemnly with a cold expression as she fixedly stared at the spire, watching Elif effortlessly progress through the numerous floors.

'Sect Master Charuli, huh?' Thought Elaine with a raised eyebrow as she glanced at the Sect building in the distance.

Although it may not seem like it, I was rather furious myself; to disrespect my beloved Mother was something not even death could dispel my hatred for. However, unlike Brother, I was far more accustomed to anger and hatred; it honestly felt like just another day of watching Brother flirt or interact with any woman other than me.

However, this time, my anger, surprisingly, wasn't directed to that of a woman but to a man, which, if I'm not mistaken, was the first time.

'No need to worry, Brother or I shall kill Comet, so it is of no concern.' Thought Elaine lightly as she shook her head before watching Elif, who had just arrived on the fifteenth floor, prompting a projection of young Maria to appear opposite of him.

With a burst of speed, thanks to my movement technique, I rapidly neared my opponent and slashed Hokori at him with nothing but my sword will; although my opponent saw it coming, it meant nothing as he was too slow to react and in one swift motion, I sliced through his head, decapitating him.

Thankfully, there was no blood, so I didn't need to worry about staining my clothes or skin, nor did I need to clean Hokori after every fight. Once the corpse of the projection disappeared, I turned around and waited a few moments, only to see my beautiful Mother appear standing in all of her glory, not naked; of course, though she wore an outfit that I'd never seen her wear before.

"That fits you very much, Mother." Muttered Elif softly as he forced a small smile while gazing at Maria, who didn't respond and simply unsheathed her sword before lunging toward him.

Befitting of Mother, even her projection didn't waste time and directly lunged at me, which was what every projection before would've done if I hadn't killed them the moment the spire created them; raising Hokori, I blocked Mother's initial attack before pushing her off me while gaining distance. Although Mother's projection wasn't strong enough for me to usually warrant a fight, this was my Mother after all; I had to at least give her a respectable fight, not to mention I was interested in experiencing what it was like to face her combat.

Launching a heavenly scar her way, hoping it would slow her down, though I was mistaken since she sliced right through it before raising her hand and thrusting it toward me, prompting a golden palm to manifest within the air; responding in kind, I made the same move and used Royal Elf's Palm, causing a purple palm of similar size to appear, only for the two palms to collide a moment later.

'I see Mother was quite talented when it came to that technique; she's mastered it to about the same extent as me.' Mused Elif with a slightly amused smile while he attacked Maria, lunching heavenly scars one after the other, yet she cleaved right through each one without slowing down.

It was a bit amusing to know Mother's most proficient technique was the Royal Elf's Palm, which was the one I struggled with the most; I don't know why, but that technique takes a while to improve upon. Anyway, that wasn't the only technique Mother used; she and I used the same movement technique, though that was where the similarities ended.

However, while fighting her, one thing I quickly noticed was the difference in our fighting styles; while I tended to counterattack my opponents, Mother fiercely fought without a moment of respite, which may seem bad at first since it did leave her with a few openings I could exploit. Though most of the time, there wouldn't even be enough time to exploit those openings given how much she would be constantly pressuring you, giving you no chance of respite, which would quickly turn the battle in her favor as she took charge of the fight and lead it at her desired pace… Just like she was doing right now, though given the sheer difference in power, it wasn't truly working.

Pushing Mother away once more after our blades clashed, she quickly lunged back toward me while raising her sword into the air, causing several ethereal swords to surround me in all directions.

'This technique is new.' Thought Elif lightly as he gazed at the numerous ethereal blades, only for Maria to lower her sword, causing them to surge toward him.

Grasping Hokori's hilt with both hands, I used Fairy Sword Dance and slashed through each blade that threatened to hit me; though when I finished, Mother had already arrived near me and used another technique while slashing at me. Although nothing happened at first, a moment later, a large golden sword wave of Qi suddenly appeared directly before me as if it had just appeared there; with a swift slash, I sliced right through it while rotating my sword, stopping Mother from piercing my heart.

If it weren't for my superior cultivation base, that last move of hers would've been impossible for me to dodge if I had just foolishly stood there while waiting for her attack to reach me.

"However, I think I've seen enough, Mother; thank you for the fight, but if I wish to see more, I'll fight my real Mother." Said Elif softly as he glanced at Maria, only for a concentrated beam of purple light to pierce her heart.
