Chapter 64: Trying magic for the first time! [Bonus]
Arthur had realized one thing.
'I had to be careful of my own emotions also so I shouldn't recklessly reveal my ability to use mana to others or my affinity.'
'Now it's time, my talent said I should be able to do basic casting without formal training, so there is no harm in trying.'
He closed his eyes, trying to feel the mana inside his body. He could feel it—mana flowing everywhere around his body. He imagined controlling a bit of it and decided to call it out.
He could feel it moving. He opened his eyes only to see a mass of blue energy around his right hand, just like he had thought in his mind. The mana that came off his body felt much different from the man he felt in the atmosphere.
If he had to explain the difference in one word, it would be:
"Much tamer."
It's more refined too compared to raw mana, which he at first felt could move to his will, but when he thought of it just for fun, it didn't move the way he wanted. It did react a bit, but it was like an untamed beast.
'But the mana I have in my hand right now—I feel I have full control over it.'
He tried to imagine the mana floating around his right arm turning into a small ball of flame.
As if the mana had accepted his will, it turned into a small ball of flame, the size of a ping pong ball.
The magically created fire was very close to his hand, but he didn't feel a thing. He knew he had an Elemental Resilience passive he had gotten from his Mana Genius, and also high magical fire resistance he had gotten from his fire affinity, so he decided to test them out a bit.
The flame was floating near his right hand, so he moved his hand to touch the flame. Even if he knew about the abilities he had, touching the flame with his hands felt a bit fearful to him, but only after a second he became resolved.
'I had already felt much more painful things—this little fire wouldn't be enough to scare me.'
He knew it was just a mental thought due to him coming from a world where something like magic was only a myth.
'I have to accept this new magical world.'
With this new thought, Arthur tried to put his finger inside the small flame, and he felt nothing at all. It didn't hurt him or burn him—he only felt a bit of relaxation on his finger where it touched.
He couldn't help but smile, knowing how much he had changed by just assimilating with a single clone. While it was only because he was a bit lucky on his first clone, he felt so different now, as if he had become a part of the magical world with his first creation of flame using his own magic.
Suddenly, Arthur felt a bit strange, as if he was losing energy—and if it went on like this, he knew it wouldn't be good for him.
'It must be because I am continuously providing the fire with my mana.'
He stopped himself and now called up his status to see how much mana he had spent.
[Mana: 17/18]
Seeing he had only used 1 mana, he was pretty surprised, as he had at least kept the small flame for a whole minute, and even then, only 1 mana was used.
[Mana: 18/18]
Arthur blinked twice, seeing his mana bar fill up completely. He knew he had a massive advantage in mana regeneration, as even a genius like Fira wouldn't match him in that.
'I have a freaking 375% boost in natural mana regeneration, including the 75% I got from my talent passive and 300% from my title alone.'
Arthur hadn't realized how freaking powerful it could be in actual combat previously. However, just now, after maintaining the flame for a whole minute and only 1 mana being depleted—which couldn't be the actual amount of mana spent, as he knew it—
'The reason for it might be I'm continuously regenerating my mana from the environment naturally while creating the flame.'
Knowing the fact that there is something he is even better at than Fira, Arthur is thrilled.
Arthur still remembered the strange golden magical circle he had seen just an hour ago inside the dining hall. The strange magical structure was still vivid in his mind. He would like to try recreating that, but before that, he would like to do some more simple things with his magic.
He also knew the element she had used in that magic circle was definitely not fire. He remembered she had an affinity to the light element also. It wasn't as high as her fire element and her locked life element, but it was a decent A-ranked.
He had only one affinity. He didn't know if he would be able to recreate the spell she used to heal him.
So before trying the actual thing, he tried to make just a ray of light.
Like before, he brought out the mana from his body and tried to imagine it being turned into a ray of light, but unlike the last time, nothing happened.
But he did not give up. He tried again and again—he had nothing to worry about when it came to mana, so Arthur didn't stop, as the rate he would spend mana was less than how quickly it would get regenerated.
He tried again and again and again. He had imagined the little amount of mana in his hand turning into a ray of light more than the 100th time, but not once did it turn into an actual ray of light.
But he didn't give up, because it's not like there was no change happening—as his mana definitely reacted to his will, flickering from time to time, especially after his 50th try.
Finally, on his 169th try, the mana turned into an actual ray of light, which only made him release a helpless sigh.
