Chapter 45: Collecting Genes (4)
"Arthur, I have something very important to talk to you about," Fira said with a serious look on her face, looking directly at him.
Arthur looked at her for a second, as this was the first time he had seen her that serious. He didn't know what important thing she wanted to talk to him about, but after she finished, he also had something very important he would like to talk to her about.
He didn't mention it because he first wanted to hear what the important thing was that she wanted to talk to him about.
"Alright, I am listening, Fira," Arthur said.
Seeing that Arthur was ready to listen, Fira continued with her serious act and explained something to him.
"Arthur, you remember what happened right before I brought dinner for you?" Fira said with a light blush on her face because she could still recall everything in her mind.
Arthur nodded to her, recalling the previous incident that made him careful of the norm here.
'I have to learn more about this too; I have too little information.'
"Why did you act so calmly afterward as if it was nothing?" Fira questioned him, but her thoughts went wild, understanding what she had asked.
'What if he says it was because it was me? Shit, I can't let him confess to me.'
She feared their friendship would break apart if that happened, so before he could even answer her, she asked him another question while deflecting her previous blunder.
"Forget about that, Arthur. What if it wasn't me and someone else? How would you have reacted?"
Hearing her words this time, Arthur was now curious about how he would have reacted if that happened.
'Hmm, I don't know. The concept of acting like a typical man of this world would be too strange for me. I can't do that embarrassing stuff.
'I know little, but the normal reaction would have been me acting shy after it happened or getting angry, or even both at the same time.'
He definitely couldn't imagine himself doing something like that.
'While I got shy and stutter while interacting with women at first, that was only because I had no social interaction with them at all.'
But now he was easily talking normally to any woman.
So the conclusion he got, even when he knew what the act of his chest being shown implied, was that he would have likely acted the same way.
He remembered times when he used to take swimming lessons in school and how everyone would make fun of his appearance, and because of it, he had covered his body while swimming, but he got over that after some time, as he didn't give them any reaction and just ignored them.
But Arthur knew if he told her he would act the same way, Fira was definitely going to lecture him some more, so he decided to say something else and even tease her a bit and hopefully end this conversation and get to the main part.
"I don't know. That was my first time someone saw me like that, so I really don't know."
Putting a sad look on his face, Arthur continued.
"You won't try to remember it, will you, Fira?"
"It was just an accident. You know that, too, Fira. It wouldn't have happened if I were careful."
"But don't worry. I will be careful from now on."
Fira heard him loud and clear, and his words made her tremble a little.
'F-First time...'
'I-I have taken his first time.'
'Shit! How could I tell him that image comes into my mind every minute? No, I can't let him think I am a pervert.'
'It's just... as a woman, I can't forget that heavenly sight I had witnessed by accident.'
She heard him say that it was an accident, and he looked sad too, and even told her he would be careful from now on.
'I think it's enough. I have to end this conversation. I believe in my friend. He will take care of himself.'
She feared what he might say next, which could label her as a pervert, as she knew he had seen her peeking through her fingers, so she had to end this conversation this instant.
"Haha, Arthur, I would never try to remember it. I think you are good now, but still, be careful."
Fira said it with a slightly awkward look on her face, as her mouth would quiver a little from time to time as she lied through her teeth about some parts.
Arthur didn't try to extend the conversation or try to embarrass her more, but seeing her acting up, he had a thought.
'As a man in the previous world, I fully understood where she was coming from.'
"Alright, Fira, but there is something I want from you, and it's very important to me," Arthur said while openly showing an emotional look on his face.
Fira heard his words and, understanding the meaning, her body froze up for a second, but she quickly returned to normal.
'Something he wants from me, which is very important to him.'
She could only think of one thing.
'Is he going to say, "I want your heart"?'
'No! Arthur, don't do this to me.'
Fira's heart was beating nonstop as she pictured him saying those words.
'No, don't do it, Arthur.'
She had a very anxious look on her face as she didn't want their friendship to go awkward. She had many people who would try to suck up to her, but she didn't have a single person she would call her friend.
'For the first time, I have found a genuine friend. I don't want it to end like this.'
But she knew it would be selfish of her to try to stop him from confessing his feelings. Her heart was beating like never before. She didn't want this to happen, but she couldn't stop it.
She felt helpless, but she wasn't going to stop him.
'I just hope we will be able to go back to how we were before after his confession.'
She knew it was going to be hard, but she was ready for the hardship ahead in their friendship.
