Chapter 895: Many guests
Reima bends down to get at eye level with Calan, "How're you doing little man?"
Calan "En, good uncle Rei!" he says cheerfully, staring back at Reima with his cat-like violet eyes.
Reima "You been listening to your parents properly?"
He nods, "Mummy's trying to teach me magic, but its sooo hard!"
Reima chuckles, "Yeah, I'll bet it is... But be diligent and you'll be as strong as both your parents one day." he says.
Calan nods with a serious expression, only for Yennefer to interject, "Don't worry about that now Calan, its fine to enjoy yourself at your big sisters birthday."
Reima stands and nods at them, "There are other people that are arriving soon, find a spot next to ours on the table, and don't be afraid to ask the House Elves for something."
Geralt nods, "Will do, I expect you to have a drink with me though Reima, I'm interested to hear the real story about those new angels of yours." he says, getting a nod approval from Yennefer.
They go to sit down while taking Calan with them just as the next guest arrives, Iorveth and Saskia both dressed in relatively fine clothes, though they look uncomfortable in them.
Reima gives a forearm handshake to Iorveth who nods back at him.
Iorveth "Fine day today isn't it, my Lord." he snarks.
Reima "That it is, but I hope you've brought the birthday girl a present, otherwise your dragon wouldn't be able to protect you." he says, sending a grin at Saskia.
Iorveth "Of course I have, I was going to just make her a bow, but Saskia wouldn't be swayed... I think young Selina will enjoy what we've prepared." he winks at the birthday girl who gives a tooth smile back.
Reima "I'd ask if you had trouble getting here, but I already know the answer... Your lucky the city defences are programmed not to shoot you down Saskia."
Saskia nods, "I know, I saw what they did to the uninvited dragons last time... Their blood still stains the mountainside."
Ciri "Enough of this topic, pick a seat you like, the others will be here soon."
Reima glances to her as they leave, "To be honest, I didn't think their relationship would last this long..."
Ciri shrugs, "Me neither, but I could say the same for us aswell."
Selina looks to the two of them, "Mum, Dad... Are you two getting divorced?" she asks, semi-seriously.
Reima laughs, "Of course not!" he levitates her in the air and shakes her around for a couple second, "You two aren't getting rid of me so easily!" he says as the young girl giggles as she struggles to free herself.
"I see you two are still as free as ever." a voice says behind them.
Reima turns while still levitating Selina behind him, "Yeah, but it would be boring otherwise, right Harry?" he says to the Archmage of Ichor, Hermione holding his arm with a smile.
Harry nods, "Its good that you can still enjoy yourself, even as the "God-King"... I've barely got a sliver of your responsibility and I'm struggling." he admits.
Reima "I think it might be time for you two to get one of these then." he says, pointing backwards at Selina with his thumb.
Hermione blushes profusely at the insinuation but Harry's mastered the art of holding his freezing his expression already.
Harry shrugs, "More responsibility to help deal with responsibility? Somethings not right in that logic."
Reima grins at him, "Yeah, but I'd say you'd become a bachelor should you refuse. A woman can only wait so long."
Harry follows Reima's eyes and spots Hermione looking eager at his words, "Oh, I see." he thinks to himself as he smiles at her. "Well... I think it might be time to try." he says and is immediately kissed by his girlfriend, apparently, that was the right answer.
Ciri "I'm looking forward to it, I'm sure Selina's always happy to have another little brother or sister."
Selina smiles, "I'll be the best big sister ever!" she manages to exclaim from her levitating imprisonment.
Harry and Hermione walk off, almost attached at the hip to find a place to get seated, Reima was happy that the two would be taking their relationship to the next step... It'd been a long time coming indeed.
Not long after that, they were greeted by a large group of people... Quelaag was walking with Quennie, Quelana, and QUelina, all the while being followed by the entire Chaos Covenant. They'd increased their numbers, but it wasn't as big as the Prospects yet, Reima personally know most of the Chaos Servants as well so he let this slide, it wasn't like they weren't able to take them anyway.
Quennie ran up and hugged Selina, "Happy Birthday big sis!"
Selina reciprocates with a smile before pulling away, "You've gotta see how many presents I got this year!" she exclaims happily, pointing towards the pile that'd been gathered.
Quennie's eyes widened at this, it hadn't been this big last year, maybe the fact that Selina had proven herself by defeating Diablo had something to do with it? "Wooow, sis, you're so lucky!"
Selina grins, "It'll be your birthday soon Quennie, you'll get lots, but not as much as me!"
Quennie "You wanna bet!?" she says.
Quelaag walks up and gives Reima deep kiss, a string of spittle follow her as she finally lets go, "Hey Rei."
Ciri can only shrug at this and look to the others, "How are you Quelana, Quelina?"
Quelana "I'm fine, the Chaos Covenant is better than ever and I've finally been able to delegate." she says, getting an understanding nod from Ciri.
Quelina "Uncle Vesemir keeps telling me to train some apprentices, but I can't find anyone good enough." she mutters.
Ciri "Where are you looking?"
Quelina "Hogwarts, the library, and most of the schools... None seem to understand anything about the subject of Alchemy."
Ciri "Why not just take an orphan and train them from start to finish then? Surely it'd give better results?"
Quelina places a finger on her chin before slowly nodding, "Yes... I think that might work... I'll give it a try later, thanks Ciri."
Ciri smiles, "Don't mention it, though, I'm still confused as to why you're not just waiting for little Quelander to grow up, I'm sure he'll be a fine Alchemist."
Quelina "He's still a baby, and he might not even want to follow in my footsteps... Plus, teaching my own son would hardly advance the craft."
Ciri nods, "I guess that's understandable... Who've you left watching him anyway?"
Quelina "Uncle Vesemir, his age is beginning to show and he's been sleeping a lot lately... I offered him some elixir of life but he refused it, saying he was happy with the path he'd led up until now."
Ciri looks down sadly before cheering herself up at the thought that this is Selina's birthday, "I see... Best not let that get us down though, take any seat you want, we'll be starting the party later."
