Chapter 14: The World Watches
As the group escaped the ruined safehouse, Zayn noticed something strange. The streets were unusually empty, the usual hum of city life replaced by an eerie silence. It wasn't until they reached Elias's hideout—a hidden bunker beneath an abandoned subway station—that he learned why.
"Your little stunt with the Abyss didn't go unnoticed," Elias said, activating a wall of monitors. Each screen displayed news reports, online videos, and social media posts—all focused on Zayn.
One video showed him mid-transformation, his body a horrifying amalgamation of flesh and bone as he fought against Kael's forces. Another featured a shaky recording of the safehouse explosion, with Zayn emerging from the rubble, his form barely human.
"They're calling you the Shapeless Sovereign," Mara said, her tone laced with both awe and concern.
Zayn stared at the screens, his stomach sinking. "This... this can't be happening."
Elias folded his arms. "Oh, it's happening, kid. The world knows about you now. And they're scared."
"Scared enough to listen to the Accord," Mara added. "They're framing you as a threat, Zayn. A monster."
Zayn sank into a chair, his head in his hands. Everything was spiraling out of control. The Accord wasn't just hunting him—they were turning the world against him.
But Elias wasn't done. "You've got a choice to make, kid. You can keep running, hiding like a scared animal. Or you can start fighting back."
Zayn looked up, his eyes meeting Elias's. "And how exactly am I supposed to do that? The Accord has an army. I can't even control myself half the time."
Elias smirked. "That's where I come in. Let's just say I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. And I know some people who might be willing to help."
"People like you?" Mara asked, raising an eyebrow.
"People like us," Elias corrected. "People who've been wronged by the Accord. People with their own reasons to fight."
