Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 66: Accidental Companion

"Why are you here?"

Alan turned around and saw Regis and Adele.

Regis wore a light magical defensive armor. The armor was bright yellow, the tactical suit was pure black, and the armor with silver energy conduction patterns was half-body armor. It is a portable style, which focuses on protecting the chest and back of two important parts of the body. Looking like a first-grade magic weapon, Regis still held his longsword and smiled, "I heard you're going to the surface. Let's go together."

"I'm not going on a trip." Alan said with a headache.

"Nonsense, what's so funny about the surface? The sun is still so intense, it will tann people's skin." Adele raised her wild eyebrows and said, "If I hadn't heard the little madman say that you were going to chop people, I wouldn't have bothered to come."

Adele was still wearing a hunting coat and a long whip, but her shirt and trousers had been replaced with a set of dark red leather armor with black lines. With Adele's status in the Morsen Clan, this leather armor was undoubtedly a type of magical weapon. Adele did not have a sword-like weapon in her hand. She was carrying a silver-gray suitcase and looked like a young lady of a noble family who was about to travel far away.

"Ellen, don't underestimate us. Although we don't have any experience in foreign countries, we still have some actual combat experience. Besides, Grandpa agreed this time." Regis simply moved Horn out.

Alan looked at Adele again, and the Morsen fairy raised her chin and said, "Grandpa must listen to me." She lowered her head again and said in a threatening tone, "If you dare to disagree, I will sleep in your room every day in the future!"

Jason couldn't help but whistle as soon as he said those words. Captain Nick hurriedly pressed his head down. Adele did not mind, and even winked at the guards with a complacent look.

'"Bring us along. We're both rank ten engravers, and we can protect ourselves no matter how bad we are. Besides, if you bring Adele along, she'll come up with some cunning ideas for you …"

"Who's sinister and cunning!" Adele punched Regis on the head and corrected, "I am the innocent and kind Adele Morson!"

Alan and Regis said almost in unison, "No wonder …"

"You two brats, are you tired of living?"

In the end, Alan could only reluctantly accept the result of the two fellows joining. At this time, the lounge announcement prompted passengers to begin check-in and boarding. Since Allen and the others were using a green passageway, they didn't have to squeeze through the congested ticket window and could directly arrive at the boarding apron.

The Azure Sky was a transport airship that had been in service for 30 years. It had a large cabin of 300 seats, which could guarantee the carrying capacity of the six routes between the floating island and the ground. Civilian flights between each district on the surface and the floating islands are basically weekly, and the transportation airships serve the residents of the floating islands to and fro between the two places. The inhabitants of the floating island are engaged in a variety of trades, most of which are employed by companies or factories with large families located on the surface.

They usually return to Babylon only on holidays or major festivals, otherwise they usually live on the surface most of the time. Traffic airships existed for this reason. Apart from that, there were also freighters and commercial airships, so the frequency of their travel became even more intense.

After parting for more than a month, Allen finally set out on a journey back to the surface. He was still a little excited. When they reached the surface, there would be a foreign affairs officer who would contact them. Arrange for them to settle down temporarily, provide detailed information about the Black Widow, and so on. And when it comes to that, Steward Helsing said, "That would be a surprise to you, young master."

Alan couldn't help but wonder, who exactly would that contact be?

More than two hours later, after a long air journey, the Azure Sky finally arrived at the official apron in Area 13 on the surface. Since Babylon itself was constantly orbiting the planet in low-Earth orbit, the distance between the two places would vary according to the seasons. It took two hours this time, and it might take three hours the next time we return. If the floating island happened to pass through the orbit near its destination, it would only take half an hour or less.

Adele, who was not afraid of the turbulence of the air twice during her flight, felt airsick. When she stepped on the ground, the young miss of the Morsen family floated in the air, her face pale, and she could not say a word for ten minutes.

When Adele recovered her breath, Allen's party left the airport. As soon as he left the airport, a domineering figure immediately entered Allen's eyes. It was a man with his back to Alan and the others. With his hands behind his back, his waist was straight, and his shoulders formed a standard horizontal line with the ground. His posture was filled with a strong aura. Nick and the other guards all had serious expressions on their faces, but Allen's face was filled with joy as he shouted, "Second Lieutenant Ron!"

Hearing Alan's voice, the man turned around. He was indeed the chief instructor of the training camp, Ron. However, Ron wasn't wearing a military uniform today. Instead, he was wearing a vest and a pair of jeans. A smile appeared on his resolute face. "White-haired brat, you really did it."

The second lieutenant greeted Alan and gave him a very manly hug. Alan felt as if he had covered a bear. Ron's steel arms almost broke his waist, but he could feel the man's sincere joy. Let go of Ellen, Ron looked up and down, nodded and said, "Kid, you've improved a lot. If it weren't for the fact that you have a mission, I would really like to have a good spar with you."

Only then did Allen react and asked in surprise, "Are you still working for Beth Cod?"

Ron laughed and wrapped his arms around Ellen's shoulders. "Brat, you don't have much money in the army. I have to find some extra money to earn, but I'm surprised you've climbed up to Beth Cod."

He glanced at the people behind him, his gaze unconcerned as he swept past Jason's soldiers, but when he landed on Nick, Regis, and Adele, his gaze became more and more solemn. Finally, Ron whistled, "You've pulled in some awesome guys, especially this little brat and girl. They're already at level ten. Not simple."

Alan said awkwardly, "Regis is the young master of Bescot, and Adele is from the Morsen family. They are my friends."

Ron grinned and said, "I'm just a rough guy. Young masters and ladies, don't argue with me."

Outside the airport, an armored car was parked, with more than enough guards and Regis in the carriage, while Alan climbed into the passenger seat. "We don't have anything as luxurious as a magical flying car," Ron shouted to the people behind him as he acted as the driver. "So you guys need to sit tight, you might be a little bumpy later!"

At first, everyone didn't care. Even if the road was bumpy, the people in the carriage were at least level 5 Origin Energy Cultivators. How could they not bear it? But Ron soon let them know that he was mistaken. The second lieutenant drove the armored vehicle into the mountains. There was no smooth road in the mountains. If it weren't for the superior performance of this crawled war chariot, ordinary vehicles would have long since broken down.

Sitting in the carriage was like riding a roller coaster. The carriage shook violently, which made Adele's face even more pale.

With great difficulty, the armored vehicle stopped and the people in the carriage jumped out as if they were fleeing for their lives. Only then did they discover that they were on a hillside platform. Behind him was a slanted cliff, with a relatively flat platform facing the vast wilderness ahead. The desolation and desolation seemed to have suddenly arrived at the end of the world, completely different from the prosperous Babylon.

On the platform, there was a row of wooden shacks made of iron frames. They looked very crude. Ron signaled to everyone, "Come in. This is my safe house. Some operations that need to be kept secret usually take place here."

When they entered the first shack that looked like an office, there were actually two young men working in the room. They were operating two brains, and they could not hear the people behind them.

"This is my office. Of course, they are incomparable to the ones in Babylon. But believe me, we can get all the information about District 13 here, as long as you can afford it." Ron patted Ellen on the shoulder.

It turned out that he was engaged in intelligence ransom work.

"Hey, Gao De. Pull up the information about the Black Widow. The version that needs to be updated recently, buddy!" Ron shouted to one of the men.

Very quickly, a tablet brain was delivered to Ron's hand. The Black Widow's emblem was already displayed on the screen. It was an ugly spider hiding on a spider web. Ron handed the brain to Ellen and led them to another room. "This is a black ball. Its members have doubled in half a year, from three before to six now …" he said.

Alan tapped on the screen of his brain. After the Hunting Group's insignia faded away, the first thing to appear was the Guild Leader's information. When Andy's familiar face came into view, there was no expression on Alan's face, but killing intent flashed in his eyes.

"Guild Leader Andy, level 11 engraver. This sinister and cunning man was charged with many crimes and was on the wanted list of the Federation. "Of course, there are too many dangerous criminals in this world that need to be dealt with first, so this man is still at large …" Ron opened a shack with only a simple bed quilt inside, but the environment is still clean. He said to the guards, "Gentlemen, this is where you sleep tonight."

'"Guna, a rank ten impressionist. A woman with a perverted hobby, promiscuous, full of slut. One thing to note is that the men she slept with would be killed by her. Then, their treasures would often disappear. As for where they went, well, I don't want to reason anymore. That's disgusting."

The Wisdom Screen opened a new page. It was a bald woman with eyeliner on it. Alan remembered her. At that time, she was the one who almost killed him. If Andy hadn't planned to sell him!
