Echoes Of The Hidden Gate

Chapter 22: THE FINAL CHOICE

The ground trembled beneath them as the portal twisted violently, its energy spiraling out of control. The sky above Natuka cracked with streaks of dark light, while on Earth, the very fabric of reality was shifting—buildings flickering between existence and ruin, oceans rising unnaturally, shadows stretching where they shouldn't.

Time was running out.

Andrea stood firm, her wings spread wide as she analyzed the chaotic energy. "We have minutes before the portal collapses completely." Her voice was steady, but the urgency in her eyes betrayed the gravity of the situation.

Kieran clenched his fists. His visions had given him nothing—only endless destruction. "Then we need to act now."

Elara turned to Andrea, searching her face. "You said we need your help. What do we do?"

Andrea took a deep breath before answering. "The portal is trying to merge both worlds, but it's unstable. If we don't guide its energy, it will rip them both apart instead." She turned to Rebel. "You have power over artifacts. You can anchor it."

Rebel tensed. "That kind of magic isn't meant to be controlled like this."

"Then break the rules," Andrea shot back. "Or we all die."

A pulse of dark energy surged from the portal, nearly knocking them off their feet. Kieran could see it now—the unraveling of both Natuka and Earth was accelerating.

No more time for hesitation.

Rebel took a step forward, raising his hands toward the swirling energy. His eyes glowed with raw power as he tapped into the artifacts woven into his being, drawing on every ounce of magic he had left.

Elara shifted into a towering creature, using her newfound strength to brace against the growing energy. "Tell me where to push."

Andrea lifted off the ground, hovering above them, her wings illuminating the area like a beacon. "We need to stabilize the connection points. Kieran—"

Kieran nodded before she could even finish. He closed his eyes, reaching out with his fading visions. The unstable threads of fate twisted before him, but buried within the chaos, he saw it—the key moment, the one action that could stop the collapse.

"We need to bind Natuka's energy to something stable on Earth," he said, eyes snapping open. "Something unshakable."

Andrea's gaze flickered with understanding. "The core ley lines. The ancient connections between realms. If we use those as the foundation—"

Elara gasped. "We could hold both worlds together!"

But Rebel hesitated, his expression dark. "If we do this… we change everything. Natuka will never be the same."

Andrea met his gaze. "It already isn't."

A long silence stretched between them. Then, slowly, Rebel gave a sharp nod. "Fine. But if this goes wrong, don't blame me."

He raised his hands higher, summoning the ancient magic that pulsed within him. Andrea soared above them, directing the energy where it needed to go. Elara and Kieran braced themselves, ready to act.

This was it—their final choice.

If they failed, both worlds would cease to exist.

If they succeeded, nothing would ever be the same.

The portal roared, and they leapt into action.
