Dynasty Rebirth Infinity

Chapter 6 – Horrible Death. Page Selection and Knighthood.

Close to eight years later-

Late Winter-

A slightly handsome young boy woke up in a luxurious bedroom.

And then, a series of memories flashed in the boy's eyes.

"I died again- And reincarnated as my son." The boy thought with complicated emotions.

Yes. The boy was Ewan. Not only that but he was named Ewan again through a twist of fate. Maia, his widowed wife and now mother, decided to name him after her late husband, who died after bravely fighting against the Northern Barbarians.

Ewan recalled the scene of his death, the horror and anguish he felt, his insignificance in that large-scale war. Yeomen like him were merely the lowliest of fighters. One in ten was a Knight, and one in a thousand was a Grand Knight. Even their general was a fabled Wizard, summoning flame storms and thunder. And yet, here he was, dead.

His Lord, Otis, Cedric, the Young Master, and himself died there. He remembered the spectacle of the moment when he saw his Lord being hacked to pieces by Barbarian Warriors. Otis got trampled to death. Cedric got shot into a sieve. He failed to protect his Young Master, who got beheaded during a Barbarian Charge.

As for himself? An enemy shaman summoned earthen spikes. The last thing he remembered was being lifted several meters into the air, dangling there with his guts spilling at the sight of the ongoing battle.

Now, close to eight years have passed. Maia remarried after Ewan's death and to none other than Jestins, the second Young Master of the house. Although an unrelated son of a concubine, Jestins adopted Ewan as his son, and although Ewan would never inherit the house, he had access to better resources and food. As for the price, the land he worked hard for got seized by Jestins as dowry.

"What a disaster." Ewan painfully thought.

Not just the death but also the people he left behind. It pained him dearly.

"And I also deprived my son a chance in life. I revived under a potential new life. It happened not once but twice. Is this a blessing or a curse?" Ewan wondered.

Shaking his head, Ewan checked his status.

Name: Ewan Shanford
Sex: Male
Age: 7
Classes: Unselected.

Stats:

Strength: 5(7)
Physique: 5(7)
Agility: 5(7)
Intelligence: 6(8)
Spirit: 4(6)
Charisma: 4(6)

Looking at his status, Ewan could hardly believe it.

"This body has much better qualifications. Overall, ten extra stat points." Ewan thought.

Perhaps it was because Ewan was very well-trained or Maia was a high-quality mother, but the new Ewan was a genius.

However, even after such a devastating second death, Ewan, ever the optimist, aspired for a better life and future.

"Let's see how far I can go in this life. Maybe I can become a Knight?"

Ewan thought and drifted back to sleep.

Two years later-

Early Spring-

In the Knightledge Manor.

Baron Edhern Irdralie Knightledge inspected three children.

"Are these the prospects from your territory?" Baron Edhern asked, glancing at the three children.

"Yes. These are all the prospects, my Lord. The war took its toll, but the seeds of tomorrow remained." Jestins, now a Knight ruling a territory, answered.

"Hm. That one is your brother's son, Sam. That one is your son, Koby. And that one is- Ewan? He isn't of your blood, is he?" The Baron asked, glancing at a slightly handsome boy.

"He is not, but his father is a martyr who died alongside my brother and father. And he showed great talent, befitting of a knight. He deserves this chance." Jestins replied. Over the years, he accepted Ewan as his son, perhaps partially out of guilt.

"Does he have any siblings?" The Baron asked.

"He is the sole child. The father died young," Jestins replied with a hint of sorrow.

"... I see. Ewan will be tried and tested. You know you will lose a quota if he is unfit, correct?" The Baron asked.

"Yes." Jestins nodded.

"Very well. Boys, you will stay here to study as Pages. Do not disappoint me." The Baron told the three boys.

"Yes, my lord!" The three boys bowed to the Baron.

Among them, Ewan glanced at his status with a complicated look.

Name: Ewan Shanford
Sex: Male
Age: 9
Classes: Militia(Common, lvl 8), Beginner Archer(Common, lvl 7)

Stats:

Strength: 18(24)
Physique: 17(22)
Agility: 19(26)
Intelligence: 16(19)
Spirit: 8(9)
Charisma: 6(7)

In this life, Ewan never had the chance to touch the hoe. Instead, they made him train the spear, sword, and bow. Not only that, but he got the complete Deer Breathing Technique and not the partial one. He reached the 5th lvl in them all except the first three stances that reached the 6th level!

Just from the breathing techniques, he received 31 stat points and was far ahead of the two adoptive brothers!

"With this, they will surely accept me as a Knight, right?" Ewan wondered.

Later that day, Ewan, Sam, and Koby apprenticed themselves to other knights as Pages. Among them, Ewan got ironically apprenticed to the Lord of the territory he originated from, the Petrice Manor.

And so, Ewan's life as a Page began.

Twelve Years Later-

Two armored knights fought each other in a blur.

Dang* Dang* Dang* Dang*

THUD*

"Oof..." A knight fell on his rear, shaking his head in a daze.

"I win again, father-in-law." A young man pointed his sword at the Knight's neck.

"Okay, okay! I yield, you monstrous brat!" The Knight complained and yielded.

The young man smiled, put away his sword, and helped the older Knight stand.

"Ewan, oh Ewan. In just twelve years, you already surpassed me. I bet you can become a Grand Knight someday." The older Knight sighed.

"Nah... I don't think I would ever reach that level." Ewan humbly replied.

The older Knight was Raimis Petrice, Ewan's mentor and future father-in-law.

Yes, Raimis was bereft of sons but had many daughters, and Ewan just so happened to be apprenticed under Raimis. Upon learning of Ewan's situation and talent, Raimis acted almost like a foster father, taking Ewan in exchange for taking up the Petrice family name. In the future, Ewan would become the Manor Lord of this humble land.

Also, Ewan continued advancing in his training, promoting all his stances to lvl 7. Due to the stacking effect of having all seven stances, it became much more leisurely to advance. Incidentally, the Deer Breathing Technique is considered the lowest-quality Breathing Technique. The Royal Family has a Breathing Technique with as many as 21 Stances! In comparison, the Deer Breathing Technique is humble at best.

But Ewan didn't mind. He was pretty glad to have a complete Breathing Technique, something most didn't have.

"Ewan, are you planning to join the tournament in the capital? Many young and aspiring talents will be there." Raimis asked with a smile.

"Yes. I heard there is a special reward for the winner." Ewan said.

"Indeed. The reward is a 14-stance Breathing Technique! You must win it!" Raimis urged.

"I know." Ewan nodded.

Ewan then looked at his status, a cunning glint in his eyes.

Name: Ewan Petrice

Archer: Archery Specialization(lvl 5), Focused(lvl 5), Hawk Eyes(lvl 10(Max)), Omitted(+)

"With this, I should be able to win, right?" Ewan thought.
