Dying Light: Volatile Virus

You remain sitting in a chair, observing how Brecken organizes the crates, still speechless of the amount of crates you managed to obtain in a single night, and exactly after waking up from much time being unconscious, and in your first night in Harran. Is quite a huge achievement.

After a moment, finally Lena comes back, but you decide to get up and look outside in the balcony, ignoring the entire conversation between Lena and Brecken. But after a short moment, you stop and turn around, entering back inside, but Lena didn't left yet, and saw you getting back, so she went towards you.

Lena: "Thank you, the Tower appreciates all the effort you already gave. You don't know how many lives you saved today."

-"It's nothing, really."

Lena: "Your clothes seems have much scratches and damage, did you got hurt in the night?"

-"No, everything went just fine."

Lena: "Well, Brecken told me about the marks you have, may I check you to make sure you're fine?"

-"Alright, but try not touch anything you shouldn't."

Brecken giggled for your comment, while Lena blushed slightly and stared at you. But then, after you sit back, she started checking you. The marks you had were less visible, as your body seemed to be healing them, but your veins were pure crimson red.

Lena: "Do you feel any symptom of anything? Maybe slightly sick? Maybe heat? Maybe another possible symptom?"

-"Not right now, I'm feeling very well."

Lena: "And in the night? Did you felt anything?"

-"Yes. At some point, I suddenly started feeling my body burn, red lines getting on my view from the sides, heard myself growl, saw my arms twitch, feel angry when I wasn't, more focused, and I think that's all."

Lena: "I see... May I take a sample of your blood?"

You simply nod, and already rise your left arm. Lena grabbed from her first aid medkit, a syringe, and obtained some of your blood.

Lena: "Alright. With the help of Dr. Zere, I'll tell the results to Brecken as soon as possible. Better stay here until the results are done."

Then, Lena grabbed her stuff, the crates, and left. The silence of the moment was noticeable, but you didn't had anything to say to Brecken, and him neither to you as you rejected to know details of anything. The moment passed, and finally, Crane appeared.

Crane: "Brecken, what do you need?"

Brecken: "Kyle. Good that you're here. The person that wanted to talk with you in this morning is here."

Crane enters more into the room, seeing you, so slowly moves closer to you, while you get up.

-"Finally. Where were you?"

Crane: "I was just searching supplies for the Tower. Also, I'm glad to see you alive, I though you were dead, as the time passed and you didn't seem to wake up."

-"Well, now that you're here, place me in date."

Crane: "Sure, but better outside. I'll tell you everything to be in date."

Slowly, you start following Crane to leave, but before you two leave the room, Brecken tells you two to visit Dr. Zere at the Infirmary, as is something important about results of your blood test.

As you follow Crane to the Infirmary, he wonders about what blood test, so you tell him that Lena got some your blood with a sample, but with your words, a girl with white coat. Crane wonders what you mean, but you unknow the names of the people, so all you can say, is that short description.

After a moment, you two reach the Infirmary. Lena and Dr. Zere are there, both with a worried expression, but Dr. Zere more calm than Lena.

Crane: "What about a blood test, Dr. Zere?"

Dr. Zere: "Lena brought me some of his blood, as for what he told her some symptoms, was urgent to know, and... Sadly, I reached to find something important."

-"What about my blood, doc?"

Dr. Zere: "Well... The virus is mutating inside you strangely, absorbing your blood, while also acts in a weird way. And by the symptoms you told Lena... I'm sorry to communicate you have 24 hours left."

Crane turns to look at you, his expression of wonder instantly become a one of concern and slight sadness.

-"24 hours left for what, doc?"

Dr. Zere and Crane's expressions change to speechless and wonder, their concern remain, but your question made them struggle to understand that you don't know almost anything, and neither want to know details.

Dr. Zere: "24 hours left to live, before you turn and become a Viral. Another infected more."

-"Oh, alright. And that's what's important?"

Both remain speechless, not spectating your lack or self preservation importance, and not care that you have only one day before you turn.

Dr. Zere: "How are you.. So calm about this? Is both surprising, and worrisome."

-"I was trained, and I just follow my training. I only focus on what my mission is, and not care about anything else. I was trained for continue, despite whatever happens, even if I die, only matters the thing if I can try to complete my mission or not. And if I can, then I must and have to do not only my best, but do it, until I can't anymore."

Dr. Zere's concern becomes of some genuine shock, is impressed but worried, but now wonders if Crane is also similar in that aspect. You turn to look at Crane, now both looking at each other, and ask him to go out, so you two can talk. He hesitates for a moment, but then shakes his head and confirms, after snapping out of his thoughts.

You follow Crane, leaving the Infirmary. And after a moment, you get out of the Tower, at least get out is much easier than getting inside. Once outside, you two start walking through the Slums, and Crane informs you to be on date about everything.

Crane: "Kadir Suleiman is Rais for how is known, and is the man we're searching."

-"Rais? Alright. Well, not gonna lie, after everything, I still thinking about that Rahim is just some teenager. But still, good I may not meet him, huh?"

Crane: "Yeah.. Good you may not.."

As is supposed and though, was your last day alive, before turning, and so, Crane remained at your side, while you two, mostly you, enjoyed obliterating infecteds. Any Biter you encountered in your way, and looted everything you could, but mostly, Crane was who was looting and searching everything, as he was the one who knew what was useful in Harran, while you were beating up each Biter.
