DxD: The Dragon Origin System

Chapter 3: Caught in The Act

Two boys, clearly not the sharpest tools in the shed, and definitely the type he needed to distance himself from.

"Haven't seen you around early in forever, Issei?"

The question caught him off guard for a second.

'I thought a pervert would be the first one on campus to gawk at girls.' But he maintained his fake persona. "Woke up early."

The two boys quickly closed in, slinging their arms around his shoulders.

"So, what do you say?" the bald one asked.

"How about a quick peep before class?" the one with glasses finished.

Issei's eyebrows twitched, but he quickly masked it with his usual smirk. For a moment, he almost considered rejecting them outright, but that would only cause unnecessary problems.

He still couldn't remember anything from the previous day, and he was in a position where he had to be careful not to draw too much attention.

No supernatural attention before the Sacred Gear's awakening.

That was the promise he made to himself before heading to school, and the key to keeping his cover was to continue acting the part of the perverted fool.

"Y-Yeah," he said, his voice uncertain, but he didn't refuse. "Let's go."

Internally, he was coming up with ways to maintain the image of the irredeemable Issei while not actually going along with their antics.

"Then, let's go!" Matsuda cheered, pumping his fists and pulling Issei along.

As for Issei, he was mentally calculating how to avoid getting pummeled by the kendo girls—the very ones the duo was dragging him toward.

'Those girls are brutal,' Issei thought, genuinely worried. He didn't want to start his time at Kuoh by getting beaten up.

"I found a great spot for us to peek, Issei," Motohama said, pointing toward a tree near some discarded drums. "Those drums were just moved from above the Admin office. They're perfect for cover."

Issei scanned the area, making sure no one was watching them.

Given that they were three of the most infamous perverts around, it felt like there should be surveillance on them at all times. Especially at a school where more than three-quarters of the popular crowd were female.

But, strangely, there wasn't a soul in sight.

'If I were in charge, I wouldn't let us three out of sight for a second.'

But he wasn't in charge. So, to avoid raising any suspicion from the other two perverts, he reluctantly accepted his role in the trio and followed Motohama and Matsuda behind the drums.

It was early in the morning, just a few minutes before classes started—the perfect time for a little peeking.

"Here," Matsuda whispered, pulling out a pair of binoculars from somewhere Issei didn't even want to imagine. "These should help."

The school was certainly dumb, but not enough to place the girls' changing room on the ground floor, right out in the open.

'Still really stupid,' Issei thought, taking the binoculars.

And, yes, the school wasn't that stupid, but still stupid. While they were clever enough not to place the changing room at a direct line of sight, they did put it on an upper level.

The stupidity of having regular, see-through glass windows in a changing room was almost comical.

'No wonder Japan has such a reputation for perverts. They're practically encouraged here,' Issei thought bitterly.

Anyone with decent eyesight wouldn't even need binoculars; they could comfortably ogle the girls from any nearby tree branch. 'Tinted glass isn't exactly a luxury item.'

Reluctantly, Issei raised the binoculars he'd borrowed, checking over his shoulder to ensure no one was lurking behind him. The last thing he needed was to get dragged out of school over this.

"Oh! Oh!" Matsuda's breath hitched with excitement. "There they are!"

"Perfect timing," Motohama whispered, practically fusing his binoculars to his glasses. "Look, Issei, they're changing!"

Issei sighed inwardly. He wasn't particularly thrilled at the prospect of watching girls undress, but opting out would only make him stand out in the worst way possible.

'It'd be way weirder for Issei Hyoudou to suddenly act like a gentleman,' he rationalized. With a resigned groan, he lifted the binoculars to his eyes.

There was the option of closing his eyes—pretending to be a creep while maintaining some semblance of dignity. But that felt like a waste. If he had to play the role, he might as well make use of the tools at hand.

"L-Look at those tits!" Motohama nearly shouted, voice trembling with excitement. "Perfect double Ds!"

"And that ass!" Matsuda howled like a dog, practically vibrating with energy. "That divine ass!"

Issei, however, wasn't looking at either.

While Matsuda and Motohama drooled over their so-called treasures, Issei's binoculars were fixed elsewhere—scanning the upper floors of the school.

'At least these binoculars are good for something useful,' he thought. His gaze wandered over students sitting in classrooms, chatting in hallways, studying, and laughing in small groups. It was mundane, yet oddly grounding—a stark contrast to the idiocy unfolding beside him.

This gave him a clear mental map of the school's layout, each floor gradually revealing its purpose.

'So, that's where the labs are, huh?' he noted, filing the information away.

The best part? He didn't have to waste time wandering through hallways or climbing endless stairs to figure it all out. He even caught glimpses of a few familiar faces.

One, in particular, stood out—a girl on the third floor with a peculiar smile plastered across her face. Her glasses sat slightly askew, her brown hair a mess, and her expression radiated the same perverse energy that Matsuda and Motohama were currently drowning in.

'Is she… staring at the guys' pants?' Issei squinted, baffled by how blatantly she ogled the boys. Even more surprising was how none of them seemed to care. 'Must be the glasses—they probably can't tell where she's looking.'

But with his binoculars zeroed in on her face, Issei had no trouble tracking her gaze. Her eyes darted unmistakably downward, confirming what he suspected. And just like that, he recognized her.

'Aika Kiryuu… the female version of me,' he thought, shaking his head in disbelief.

Rumor had it she could accurately guess a guy's size with just a quick glance in their direction. The thought made Issei shudder slightly, but he quickly redirected his focus.

As his binoculars shifted to the other floors, the muffled giggles of Matsuda and Motohama brought him back to the present. One of them was losing his mind over a girl taking off her bra.

"Idiots," Issei muttered, using their distraction as an opportunity to scan for something more important—one of the supernatural students rumored to attend Kuoh Academy.

'Now, where are they hiding?'

He moved methodically from floor to floor, searching for any sign of the infamous heiresses and their peerages.

He knew they were often tied to two locations: the Occult Research Club and the Student Council. The problem? He had no idea where those rooms were. He'd never bothered to pay attention to the details, and no one had ever explicitly mentioned their locations.

'Figures,' he sighed.

"Where could they be?" he muttered under his breath, inaudible to everyone but himself, focusing his binoculars on the second and third floors.

Unfortunately, the school's sprawling layout made the task almost impossible. He could only see one side of the building, meaning the rooms could easily be tucked away on a completely different angle or side altogether.

Still, he scanned every corner he could, determined to spot something—or someone—worth his time.

And the worst part?

Finding the rooms was the least of his concerns. His real problem stood right behind him.

"And what might you be looking for, Hyoudou?"

They say curiosity killed the cat.

But in Issei's case, the cat killed his curiosity.

Her deadpan eyes locked onto him, sharp and unrelenting. He couldn't decide whether to be distracted by her cuteness or panicked at being caught red-handed.

Neither option mattered because his thoughts froze entirely, replaced by glowing words hovering in his vision as he used his Draconic Eye.

The implications of those words were enough to make his stomach churn.

[Same Time, Unknown Location]

Hidden from the world, sealed and punished within an imperceptible realm, a beast of immense power lay dormant.

Its eyes were shut, its colossal body motionless, and its heartbeat steady—a relentless rhythm of latent power. Yet even in this state of semi-consciousness, the creature's mind remained alert.

It sensed everything within its prison. The faint presence of new, unfamiliar energy growing within the same dimension.

The beast despised it. Sharing its domain with something alien, something uncomfortable, was an insult. But no matter how much it loathed the intrusion, it was powerless to act.

Sealed. Asleep. Bound by forces beyond its control, it waited.

Its massive, scaly form—large enough to flatten entire cities with the simple act of resting—lay engulfed in flames and magma, cradled by the heart of a volcano.

This was no ordinary beast. It was among the strongest of its kind, surpassed only by two others who could be classified as gods rather than mere dragons.

If the beast was power incarnate, those two were omnipotence—entities capable of annihilating not just worlds but entire dimensions.

Yet even among dragons, it stood unmatched. It was above the so-called kings of its kind. Superior in every way.

It was not just a ruler of land, sea, or sky. It was a being that could lay claim to the heavens themselves.

It was a Heavenly Beast.

One of the two Heavenly Dragons.

A force so formidable it could challenge even God.

This was the Heavenly Dragon of Domination—the Welsh Dragon, the Red Dragon Emperor.

Ddraig, the one who defied the heavens and stole the God's sky.

And now, it lay waiting.

Waiting for the one who would awaken it.

Waiting for Issei Hyoudou to claim his destiny and unleash the true power of the Red Dragon Emperor.
