DXD: The Awakening Of Phenex

Chapter 223: Chapter [223]

"I won't let you hurt anyone else, Arlong!" Luffy shouted, charging towards the fish-man, determined to put an end to his reign of terror.

Riser watched the scene with a slight smile on his lips. He didn't know exactly what Luffy would do to Arlong, but he was willing to take the opportunity to see the outcome.

Riser looked at Zoro, his eyes showing a mix of challenge and expectation.

"Your captain has made his decision. What are you waiting for to turn those fish-men into sushi?"

Zoro, seeing Luffy's determination, did not hesitate. He drew his swords, his gaze fierce and resolute, and rushed towards one of the fish-men. With a swift movement, he delivered a powerful slash.

CUT!

Despite the cut across the fish-man's chest, Riser noticed that the wound wasn't deep enough to be fatal, and that the fish-man would survive.

Riser thought for a moment, his eyes assessing the situation ahead.

'He is still in doubt. There's no point in pushing it. I'll take care of the stragglers and leave Zoro and Sanji with the two strongest ones left.'

Riser decided to act, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared using "Soru."

FWOOOSH!

Riser reappeared behind a group of fish-men, his finger extended as if it were a pistol.

"Shigan!"

He thrust his finger directly into the brain of one of the fish-men, killing him instantly.

SHUNK!

The fish-men started screaming in despair as Riser eliminated them one by one. Each strike was precise and fatal, and the sound of their screams echoed throughout the area.

AAAAAHH!

AAAAHH!

Riser continued using "Soru" to appear and disappear in different points of the battlefield, leaving behind a trail of chaos. He killed seven fish-men quickly and brutally, their bodies falling lifeless to the ground.

Nami watched the scene from afar. Despite the brutality, there was no disgust in her expression. She knew that this was necessary to free the village from Arlong's rule.

Unlike Nami, whose expression was difficult to read, Nojiko seemed clearly satisfied seeing the fish-men being eliminated.

Usopp, on the other hand, looked at Riser with obvious fear, cowering behind Nojiko.

The remaining fish-men were completely terrified, their eyes wide as they watched their comrades fall one by one. Fear took over them, and many began to hesitate, not knowing where to run or how to escape the inevitable massacre.

Arlong, furious, decided to intervene. He advanced towards Riser, but was intercepted by Luffy, who didn't look away for even a second. Luffy was focused only on Arlong, ignoring everything around him, determined to end the tyrant.

Riser paused for a moment, looking at the few fish-men that were left. He smiled coldly, his gaze filled with disdain.

"I'll leave just three of you... Arlong, the one with big lips, and that one in the blue kimono. Consider this a privilege."

The fish-men who were still standing trembled at his words, knowing they had no way of fighting against that power. Riser had killed more than thirty fish-men in total, and the sight of the battlefield was one of pure terror.

FWOOOSH!

Riser reappeared next to Sanji and Zoro, who were still fighting the two strongest remaining fish-men. He looked at the two of them and, with a confident smile, commented:

"You're lucky. I left the best fun for you."

Sanji and Zoro exchanged quick glances, recognizing that Riser wasn't there to help them, but rather to test them. They both nodded, ready to face the enemies in front of them.

...

Riser returned to where the villagers were, where Nami and Nojiko were standing. The villagers moved away, fearful of his presence.

"I hope it wasn't too brutal for you, Nami," said Riser, his voice calm as he looked at the young navigator.

"It wasn't," replied Nami, trying to keep her voice firm.

She didn't know exactly how to feel about the bodies of the fish-men, but without a doubt, she was happy because she felt that Arlong's reign of tyranny was coming to an end.

Nojiko stepped forward, looking at Riser with a serious expression.

"Thank you for what you did."

Riser nodded, keeping a slight smile on his lips.

"No need to thank me. Now, tell me, what's the name of the beautiful lady?" he said, looking directly at Nojiko.

Nami opened her mouth to answer, but Nojiko interrupted her.

"I can introduce myself, Nami," said Nojiko, extending her hand to Riser.

"My name is Nojiko, I am Nami's sister."

Riser took her hand, greeting her politely, but with an enigmatic glint in his eyes.

"Nice to meet you, Nojiko. I'm Riser."

...

Inside Arlong Park, Zoro fought against the fish-man with the strange lips. Despite the deep cut on his chest, Zoro managed to defeat him easily, leaving him in a state where survival would be difficult, though he was still alive.

Sanji, meanwhile, fought against Kuroobi. With determination and strength, he also defeated the fish-man, who ended up only unconscious. Both combatants were tired and panting, watching Luffy's fight against Arlong, their breaths heavy as they witnessed the decisive confrontation.

...

After noticing that Zoro and Sanji had finished their fights, Riser called Nami and Nojiko to enter Arlong Park.

Usopp, hesitant, followed them closely, his heart pounding as they crossed the gates of the place that was once a symbol of terror.

Nami looked around, her eyes examining every detail of the place that had brought so much pain and suffering. Nojiko, beside her, held her head high, determined to see the end of this nightmare.

Riser, leading the group, walked confidently, while Usopp nervously looked around, trying to stay safe behind the others.

Riser pointed to Kuroobi and Chew, who were still alive, their bodies fallen and weakened. He looked at Nami and Nojiko, his eyes serious as he asked the question.

"Do you want to finish them off yourselves?"

Nami bit her lip, hesitating for a moment. Her eyes darkened as memories of her mother's death at the hands of Arlong flooded her mind. Fear and anger bubbled inside her, making her feel vulnerable but also determined. She knew she had to end it, but she also felt deep sadness. "I...", Nami began, her voice trembling. "Yes, I want to finish this." Despite the reluctance in her voice, the flame of revenge burned in her eyes.

Nojiko, on the other hand, seemed more resolved. She was more concerned about her sister's mental state than the fish-men in front of them. She knew how painful that moment was for Nami, and because of that, she put a comforting hand on her sister's shoulder. "We'll do it together, Nami," said Nojiko, her gaze firm and full of support. "But remember, we're here to free our village. Don't let hatred consume you."

Sanji, who was watching the scene closely, didn't like the way Riser was influencing the sisters. He frowned, his eyes clearly distrustful. "Riser, did you really need to ask them that?" Sanji commented, his voice full of irritation as he approached. "They've already suffered enough, don't you think?"

Riser kept his slight smile, looking at Sanji without any sign of concern.

"I think they have the right to decide how they want to deal with those responsible for their suffering."

Sanji huffed, looking away but decided not to continue the discussion. He knew the sisters needed that moment, and he would be there to protect them, no matter what happened next.

Zoro approached, pointing to Chew, the fish-man he had defeated.

"That one is mine. I defeated him," Zoro said, his voice cold and direct. He looked at Sanji, his eyes challenging. "If you don't want them to kill, then kill the one you defeated yourself."

Sanji remained silent, Zoro's words echoing in his mind. He knew he couldn't interfere in such a personal moment for the sisters. He hesitated, watching the fallen fish-man before him, while Zoro turned his attention back to Chew, determined to finish what he had started.

"Marimo," Sanji muttered, but this time without his usual provocation, just a resigned tone.

Riser watched the scene with a smile, clearly enjoying the internal conflict that had unfolded among the Straw Hats.

'Influencing the human mind is fun.'

In the end, Zoro decided to kill his opponent. With a quick and precise strike, he ended Chew's life.

Nami and Nojiko, in turn, picked up a fallen sword from the ground. Together, they advanced towards Kuroobi, their hands firm on the blade as they delivered the final blow. Nami's eyes met Nojiko's for a moment — a moment of shared pain, but also liberation.

SLASH!

Kuroobi was unconscious, and the blow was fatal. The two sisters delivered the mercy strike, ending a dark chapter in their lives. The determination and pain turned into a unified action. Nami and Nojiko stood side by side, breathing heavily as they looked at the body of the fish-man.

Sanji simply watched, accepting what had happened. He knew that this was necessary for Nami and Nojiko to move on. Usopp, as usual, hid behind a wall, peering out, clearly relieved not to be directly involved.

Riser watched it all with a smile on his lips, an enigmatic glint in his eyes. He knew that, for some people, revenge was a form of freedom. And for him, watching those intense moments and manipulating them in some way was the entertainment he sought.
