DxD 0045: Desperation
Rias left Akeno in charge of the fight as she decided to finish off the fallen angel that was approaching her quickly.
“Red hair… Gremory. You must know what happened to my friend…” Kalawarna asked as she fired a beam of light toward Rias who countered using her Power of Destruction.
“Yeah, she seduced the wrong devil. He fucked her to death…” Rias taunted her. Coincidentally, it wasn’t far off from the truth.
“I always told her to not be such an exhibitionist,” Kalawarna muttered as she shot multiple beams of holy light at Rias, who dodged those she could and countered those she couldn’t.
“I could always arrange a similar session for you… I saw her, she died with a pretty sultry smile. At least that’s what it seemed like…” Rias taunted as she created multiple whips of destruction, showcasing her newfound control over the ability.
Suddenly, Kalawarna was put in a defensive position as she dodged the whips. Soon enough, she slipped and one of her wings was grazed by a whip.
She instantly screamed in harrowing pain as half of her wing disappeared, making her lose the ability to fly. Rias wasn’t one to miss such an opportunity as she followed after Kalawarna and continued her barrage.
“I’ve had enough of you!” She screamed desperately as a holy light burst out of her and she conjured multiple spheres of holy light around herself to defend against the barrage of whips.
Rias didn’t waste any time before she pointed both her palms in her direction and released two potent beams of Destruction energy that directly hit the spheres, creating a small explosion before Kalawarna could make any other move.
As the dust settled, Kalawarna was left on her knees with her head slumped downwards. The summoned light spheres were nowhere to be seen. Soon, she fell to her side on the ground, turning into dust as the effects of Rias’ destruction energy weren’t easily countered.
Not wasting any time, Rias first looked over to the two fallen angels who were still in the process of extraction, before turning to look at her peerage. She felt her heart clench as she looked at them.
Koneko and Kiba’s bodies were marred by multiple cuts that had smoke coming out of them. They were wounded by the holy attacks of the exorcists and it would be a pain to take care of those wounds.
Akeno and Aika weren’t in as bad of a shape, but they were also huffing, clearly tired after dealing with unending waves of enemies. Without hesitating, Rias got back to them and ambushed multiple of the exorcists with her destruction energy, getting some of the pressure off of Koneko and Kiba.
As she landed back in between them, she took charge again and said, “Akeno, take a minute to rest.” She said as she noticed that Akeno was too tired and was going to get overexerted if she continued.
“Koneko, take the front line as I support you while Kiba watches your back, he needs a moment. She told Koneko to take the main position as Kiba was to support Koneko. This would allow him to get some rest as he was pretty tired.
Rias’ presence instantly reduced the pressure on the group as their movements were much more fluid and motivated. Even Aika was impressed at how well Rias could command her peerage, she wasn’t the best strategist or the strongest, but she was a damn good leader. And she could control the morale of the group with just her presence.
“Oh yeah, Aika. Do you need a break?” Rias asked. She wasn’t familiar with Aika to gauge her with just a look and had to ask, “No, I’m fine. I can go on for longer.” Aika said, she was a little winded up, but she wasn’t too tired as she was mostly focusing on the heavy hitters and making sure that they aren’t able to charge any heavy attacks. She was directly responsible for stopping multiple attacks that would’ve put everyone in a very bad situation.
Although Rias’ presence reduced the pressure on them all, they were still at a horrible disadvantage as they were being bombarded by multiple enemies. They’d only gone through half of the people here in so long. And most of them were worshipping civilians who didn’t have much strength to show. Almost 80 Exorcists were still there to be fought off.
“Koneko, switch with Kiba.” She said as she noticed Koneko getting sluggish. “I can still go on.” Koneko was stubborn as she punched an exorcist’s face at the expense of her arm being lashed by holy light.
“Koneko!” Rias said sternly in a tone that made Koneko back down as Kiba took the front lines while Koneko defended him to the best of her ability while trying to recover.
This lasted for almost 10 minutes and by the time the numbers dwindled down to 30 or so exorcists, everyone was running on fumes as they were extremely tired and injured.
‘Fucking hell…’ Rias felt horrible because she knew that this was because of her pride and childish anger. If Abaddon had come with her, things would have been so much easier, ‘He even sent his pawn… trusting her to my hands…’ Rias felt a lot of guilt as she blasted another exorcist with destruction energy before looking at the battered figure of a passed-out Aika.
She practically held off the remaining 30 exorcists by herself as she created a communication circle to contact Abaddon.
Before she could complete her action she heard a teasing voice, “Got you!” Rias’ head whipped around as she saw a spear of light approaching her chest. The voice had come from the man wielding the spear. He had a disgusting expression on his face as his tongue hung out of his mouth.
At the same time, multiple spears of light also attacked her from all sides, breaking through the remaining barriers.
‘Really? This guy?’ She thought annoyedly as she was subjected to such a disgusting scene just before she was killed. She closed her eyes in anticipation of the embrace of death as her lips quivered in fear and unwillingness. She didn’t want to die. She hadn’t even lost her virginity yet. Countless thoughts raced through her mind as the image of a man appeared in her mind, ‘Asshole…’ Even as she was about to die, she cursed him angrily.
A few seconds passed and she didn’t feel the pain that she was expecting. She opened her eyes with a tremble as she saw the exceedingly handsome face of her cousin, Abaddon.
As if all the tension from her body had disappeared, she collapsed onto the ground in a daze as she sat and just looked at his face he was sporting a proud smile as he looked at her.
“You disgusting vermin! Let me go!” The disgusting voice of the man that had ambushed her said. Rias looked down and saw that he was pinned down by Abaddon’s foot that was resting on his back.
Abaddon looked down at him with a passive look as he said, “You must be that Freed guy Raynare told me about.” He said with a tone of disgust, “I also sense a disgusting connection with you. Something that relates to him…” Abaddon said the last word with a venomous undertone.
Before Freed could even say something in reply, Abaddon’s foot rose up and just as Freed thought that he was free, Abaddon pushed his foot down again. This time, directly on Freed’s skull, and he didn’t stop until his skull was crushed under Abaddon’s foot. Rias also noticed the presence of the red gauntlet that was encapsulating his left arm.
«TRANSFER»
Rias heard the voice and Abaddon suddenly turned into a blur that she wasn’t even able to see and disappeared. Rias looked around and noticed the Exorcists being punched to death one by one as none of them was even able to muster a single ounce of resistance. She didn’t blame them either. Even she was unable to see anything more than a blur as Abaddon moved.
It took him no more than a minute to kill off the 30 exorcists that were much stronger than some weaker middle-class devils. That’s how they were able to survive until now.
‘The fallen angels…’ She thought as she quickly turned to look at the stage and saw that the two of them were already tied with a magic circle under them. The girl who was hung on the cross seemed dead as the sacred gear seemed to have already been extracted from her.
‘This fucker was here since the start…’ Rias realized as fury bubbled up inside her. Her expression was angry as she looked at him. Though soon, she felt her vision darkening as the overtaxing of her demonic power finally got to her and she fainted along with everyone else.
‘Well… This is a problem…’ He thought as he looked at the fainted figure of Rias, ‘She has to reincarnate that girl soon, or else the window will be gone…’ Abaddon thought annoyedly as he walked to her after taking care of all of the hostiles.
He held Rias in his arms and walked up the stairs to where the cute blonde nun was still hung on the cross. Most of her clothes were torn off as she seemed to have been molested before being tied to the cross. Though that didn’t seem to be the case, otherwise there would be stains of blood on her dress. The torn clothes were most likely due to her resistance.
“Hey, wake up… Hey… You have a job to do.” He said while shaking Rias.
He shook his head after trying for a while as he decided to see how well Boosted Gear works with actively transferring Aether.
«TRANSFER»
With a glow in the gem, some of the Aether that Abaddon had stored in his body was being transferred into Rias’ body as the cuts on her body started healing up and her demonic energy got slightly recovered.
Abaddon quickly shook her awake after feeling like it was enough. He’d already transferred quite a bit of Aether into her body, but she was just in too bad of a state to be able to recover so quickly.
“Mm?” Rias mumbled, “5 more minutes.” She buried her face in his chest.
“Wake up, you can sleep for 5 days after this. You have to reincarnate her quickly.” He told her and that seemed to have her open her eyes. She looked at him hatefully with hints of anger as she pushed herself out of his embrace.
Abaddon brought the nun down as he helped Rias with the reincarnation process. He killed the two fallen angels and ripped away the sacred gear from them. Twilight Healing took the form of two rings and he put those rings back on the girl’s fingers.
5 minutes later, the girl woke up and saw Rias’ face looking at her with hints of grogginess and concern. She was barely keeping herself awake, “What’s your name?” Rias asked the girl.
“A-Asia Argento…” She said with a confused expression.
“Well, Asia… Welcome to the family, my Bishop…” Rias said just before collapsing.
