DxD: I Am Light With Villain System

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: The Brightness of a New Beginning and the Darkness of Betrayal

Light woke up earlier than usual. After leaving the house at the same time as his father left for work, Light, seeing that the sky was still not completely clear, went to an isolated area. Using his own light to hide himself as much as possible, he then began to fly after creating a pair of golden lightning wings.

The instant he started flying, he was bound for an area near the old church.

A little over two minutes later, Light arrived at his desired destination.

As soon as he got off, he walked a little further until he reached his destination.

"Coming!"

Asia's sweet, gentle voice echoed from the other side of the door.

It didn't take long for her to open the door.

And there she was, with her long blonde hair falling freely over her shoulders and back and a loose strand just above her forehead that resembled a question mark. Her eyes were a vibrant green, and she had a kind and hopeful expression, after all, today would be her first day at school...

Speaking of school, she was wearing a uniform consisting of a white shirt with black stripes, a black tie and a gray sweater over it, complemented by a burgundy skirt with white details. She also wore dark gray knee-high socks and brown shoes. Her look was completed with an accessory: a silver cross necklace around her neck.

"That uniform suits you very well," Light complimented.

Hearing this and seeing his smile, Asia was visibly happy.

Asia reciprocated with her best smile and said in her gentle voice: "Thank you. I'm very happy~"

After Asia locked the door, they left.

"Today I came especially because you don't know the way to school," Light said. "But there will be times when you have to go alone, you know?"

"I know," Asia turned to him with a smile. "You're already being very kind to me, I can't ask that much of you. I'll strengthen myself so that I don't have to be so dependent on you and, someday, I want to be useful to you, Light-sama." Light smiled slightly.

Light smiled a little. "You don't have to be so serious. I'm mainly saying this because there may be times when I can't come with you to school."

"Anyway," Asia said, "I still intend to try very hard to be useful to you one day. I was being serious when I said that."

Seeing her clench her hands into small fists, Light let out a chuckle.

"Okay, since you want to do it, I won't stop you," Light said. "Just don't try too hard and overload yourself. The result will be more negative than positive by then."

Arriving at the bus stop, Light and she got on.

Luckily, it wasn't crowded, and they soon found two empty seats.

Sitting down, they waited until they reached the Kuoh Academy.

With a welcoming gesture from her teacher, Asia crossed the threshold of the classroom with serene grace. Her entrance was a silent ballet, each step arousing fascination. Issei and her classmates couldn't help but catch their gaze on the new student, whose beauty seemed out of place, as if a painted figure had come to life and entered the real world. Asia's blonde curls seemed to glow golden in the morning light, and her eyes were like clear mirrors reflecting dreams not yet dreamt. Her presence was like a gentle breeze on a summer's day, promising novelty and sweetness.

With a smile that seemed to melt away the worries of everyday life, she introduced herself: "Hello, I'm Asia Argento. I hope we can create many happy memories together." Her curtsy was the cherry on top, a gesture of respect that seemed as natural as her beauty.

A chorus of applause erupted in the room, a spontaneous tribute to the friendliness she exuded. The boys, in particular, seemed more alive, their applause a little more enthusiastic, their smiles a little wider.

Issei, however, stood apart, his face a canvas of conflicting emotions, as if a storm was brewing on the horizon of his gaze.

With her introduction complete, Asia was ushered to her new seat, past a sea of curious and welcoming faces, a new chapter in her life was about to begin unfolding before her eyes.

Today was the decisive day, so to speak...

Light drove Asia to her house, but didn't stay for today's training. He gave her some basic exercise instructions, while he himself headed back to his residence.

Almost to the house, he stopped.

A system alert announced that Raynare, Mittelt and Kalawarna had just entered his [Inner World] using the escape card.

Quickly, he found himself inside his [Inner World].

He soon saw the three fallen angels.

"Light-sama!" they exclaimed in chorus.

They seemed to be shocked by what they had seen so far.

Raynare was the first to approach.

There was a trickle of blood running from her mouth.

"What happened?" asked Light. "Was it an ambush?"

"Something like that." Raynare stopped in front of him. "Kokabiel seems to be onto something and wanted to use us to incite a war against demons and angels. However, when he realized that we weren't going to take part in such a plan, he attacked us. However, I managed to fend off his attack, as he didn't use his full strength, underestimating us. Then, when Mittelt and Kalawarna used the escape card, I did the same."

Kokabiel... Light knew about him.

Although he's not extremely powerful, he's not weak either. He's at least level 5 or even level 6. However, he must be lazy, because although he is a fallen angel with five pairs of wings, he is weaker than others with fewer wings; in other words, he is inferior to beings of lower levels than him.

Having lived for so long, hasn't he thought to strengthen himself? Maybe that's the case. Sometimes, the arrogance of being born with an exceptional gift makes these so-called geniuses believe that they don't need any effort or hard work, and so they are easily surpassed over time by those they looked down on.

In human history, there are many examples of geniuses like Kokabiel. They are naturally arrogant and believe themselves to be superior, making no effort at all.

The pure white aura surrounding Raynare began to dissipate.

"What exactly did he discover?" Light asked. "How far is he aware of you?"

"Not much." Raynare replied. "He was aware that we took temporary shelter in a disused church, close to the demons' domain. Being from the Sitri and Gremory families, he wanted us to eliminate the subordinates of Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri. Obviously, he didn't expect us to defeat them, but to provoke a conflict so that they would seek retaliation. Up to that point, he intended to present himself and use the conflict to incite a war. That's what I understood from his words before he attacked us."

"That's not trivial." Light reflected and then spoke. "So his plan is to sabotage the peace agreement between the three factions and spark a conflict, correct?"

All three nodded.

Suddenly, Light let out a laugh. "A war wouldn't be bad, but it's not something I want either. I'm still weak, I don't want to be dragged into danger like that... Well, maybe we shouldn't worry so much. Azazel and Shemhazai probably aren't foolish enough not to realize Kokabiel's intentions."

At this point, the three didn't object.

Of course, he could have been wrong, considering that many events had changed since he significantly altered the original plot, but he didn't worry too much. After all, if a war really did break out, he would just have to take refuge in his own world until he was strong enough not to fear any of the three factions.
