Dungeon Dream

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Long, long ago, the Gods created a world along with many living creatures, including humans. After completing their creation, the Gods left it to see how everything would evolve. Initially, everything was at peace. However, humans began evolving at a rapid pace and eventually grew greedy. They sought to dominate and become the supreme species. As a result, humans started killing off other species to eliminate competition. Within 7 months, most species had been wiped out, and humans had risen to the top of the food chain. Unexpectedly, their greed escalated to the point where they began to kill their own kind in their pursuit of world domination.

When the Gods finally returned to check on their creation, they were horrified by the sight and were in disbelief that one of their creations had grown to a level where it became a threat to the entire world and all living beings. Filled with rage and anger, the Gods decided to create a being to hunt down every single human in the world. And so they created the Quinens - humanoid beings with no face, mouth, or ears, and their bodies were as dark as a void.

As soon as they were put into the world, they immediately began hunting and killing every human they found brutally. Within a month, 70 percent of the human population was wiped out, and the remaining 30 percent went into hiding underground, forming seven colonies in different areas. However, not long after, they were discovered by the Quinens and mercilessly killed. As humans were on the brink of extinction, the Gods of Life took pity on them and decided to help. The Goddess chose one Avatar from each of the human colonies to work towards saving humanity from extinction, and so seven Avatars were chosen.

[Bedroom]

"Mom! Can you tell me the names of the seven Avatars? Were they awesome?!"

Yuhi smiled warmly as she tucked Alkrin into bed. "Sure, dear, but after I tell you their names, you have to promise to go to sleep, okay?"

"Okay, Mom! I promise!"

"All right, let's begin. Hmmm... Where should I start?" She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Ah, let's start with Sam."

Yuhi's voice softened as she began the tale.

"Sam Wyner, the leader of the seven colonies, was humanity's savior. He sacrificed his life to seal the Quinenherd Queen, the greatest threat to mankind. Some say he didn't do it alone, and another Avatar secretly helped him... but no one knows for sure."

She paused briefly, smiling at Alkrin's wide eyes, and continued.

"Scalf Frug, the Warrior of Mankind, was a relentless fighter. He singlehandedly slayed 10,000 Xezreals—terrifying creatures born from the union of Quinens and Void Wanderers. They're 50 times stronger than Quinens but, thankfully, mortal."

"Whoa!" Alkrin whispered in awe.

"Rufy Burfei," Yuhi said, "is hailed as the greatest mage in history. It's said she had infinite mana and knew every spell in existence."

Alkrin's jaw dropped. "Infinite mana?!"

"Indeed," Yuhi said with a grin. "Next is Trey Gol, the trickster and spy. Not everyone liked him because of his mischievous ways—he had a habit of stealing and teasing. But his cleverness and cunning were unmatched."

"Then there's Wel, the strategist. They say he outsmarted armies in the Battle of Yawing, a fight no one else thought winnable. He even wrote The Book of Tactics, which soldiers study to this day."

"What about the knight?" Alkrin asked eagerly.

"Deimachos, the most loyal of them all," Yuhi replied. "A true knight, always by Sam's side, never wavering, even in the darkest times."

"Cool! And the healer?"

"Aruna," Yuhi said gently. "She was humanity's hope, the Healer of Mankind. Known for her boundless kindness, she was loved by all."

"And finally, Tquiko Demas," she said. Her tone became a little more serious. "He was the craftsman who forged weapons that won wars, yet people looked down on him because crafting was seen as work fit only for dwarves. But Tquiko's inventions saved countless lives."

Yuhi glanced down and chuckled softly. "Looks like you're asleep already, my little hero."

She kissed Alkrin's forehead. "Goodnight, Alkrin," she whispered, tucking the blankets tighter. Then she heard a voice from the living room.

"Yuhi! You've got to come and see this!"

[Living Room]

"What is it?" Yuhi asked, walking briskly into the room.

Carla, her aide, pointed at the magical screen glowing on the wall. "The Sector 5 dungeon seal... it's breaking."

Yuhi's eyes widened. "Breaking?!"

"Yes, and monsters are already spilling out! If we don't act fast—" Carla hesitated, her voice trembling. "The Quinens sealed there might escape."

Yuhi's face hardened. "Alert everyone. Get them to the training grounds immediately. Carla, you'll take Alkrin and evacuate with the civilian rescue group."

Carla saluted. "Yes, General."

[Training Grounds]

The troops stood assembled, their eyes fixed on Yuhi as she stepped forward. Her voice echoed with resolve.

"Warriors! Today is the day we've prepared for, the day we put our training to the ultimate test! This is our moment, our chance to protect what we hold dear. Our families. Our homes. Our honor."

She paused, scanning their determined faces.

"But I will not force anyone to fight. If you wish to leave, there is no shame in stepping away now."

The soldiers stood firm. One spoke, his voice booming with pride. "We would never leave you to fight alone! It would be a disgrace to our pride to let a woman—or anyone—bear this burden alone. We are with you until death!"

A deafening cheer erupted.

"YEEEAAAHHH!!!"

Yuhi smiled, her heart swelling. "Thank you. Now, let's show those monsters the mistake they made coming to the surface!"

The soldiers roared in agreement as they charged toward the dungeon.

[Sector 5 Dungeon – Surface Entrance]

The air crackled with unease. Within the dungeon's depths, unseen eyes glimmered with malevolence. The warriors thought they were marching to prevent the worst...

But what they feared most had already been unleashed—and it was waiting to claim its next prey.
