Duel in a Sword & Magic World: Girls Spirit Duelist

Chapter 119: DSMW [119]

"Fusion Summon with an Xyz Monster and Dark Magician Girl? What the hell are you doing?!"

The white-haired loli looked up at the spiraling fusion effect in the sky, dumbfounded. As someone unfamiliar with Fusion Academy's specialty, she couldn't begin to grasp how Miles had managed that Fusion.

A completely unrelated monster was clearly caught up in the fusion material—and yet, he declared The Dark Magicians. What did it mean?

"You should worry about your own monster first. Your invincible Sacred Beast is going down!"

Miles thrust his arm toward the towering golden Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder.

4000 Attack and Defense, and immunity to Trap effects. Seemingly untouchable.

Despite that, even Hamon had weaknesses. If those were targeted with the right effects, it was far from invincible.

And the Ritual Summon that preceded the Fusion, Magician of Chaos, was exactly the ace up Miles' sleeve to break through the Sacred Beast this turn.

"When a Spell or Trap Card effect is activated, Magician of Chaos can trigger its effect!"

[Once per turn, when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can target 1 card on the field; destroy it.]

Drawing on the magical backlash of Polymerization, Magician of Chaos gathered chaotic black magic at the tip of his wand, light and darkness intertwined.

"I use Magician of Chaos's effect to destroy Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder! Chaos Dark Magic Burst!"

The blast of swirling chaos engulfed Hamon's massive golden form, consuming the Sacred Beast in one final roar before erasing it from the battlefield.

[Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder] Destroyed

Shock flickered across the white-haired loli's deep blue eyes as she stared at her suddenly empty field.

"Nani? Hamon was destroyed by a monster like that?"

"Hamon is definitely tough… but if you trigger the right effect at the right moment, it's not hard to bring down. What's harder to understand is you're not even running any face-downs. Getting overconfident, are we?"

The last turn, after Aisha blocked her attack, the Millennium Ring hadn't even Set a Trap before ending the turn.

Maybe it was faith in Hamon.

But to Miles, it seemed more likely that she simply couldn't. To meet Hamon's Summoning conditions, her Deck must have been so saturated with Spell Cards that Traps were hard to draw or use.

"Hamon is strong, yes—even so, its inherent weaknesses affect your entire Deck's build. Now's our chance to counterattack! Come forth, The Dark Magicians!"

With Hamon destroyed, the second monster appeared on Miles' field, emerging from the fusion spiral alongside the Ritual Summon of Magician of Chaos.

[The Dark Magicians] Level 8│DARK│Spellcaster / Fusion / Effect│2800 ATK / 2300 DEF

["Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl" + 1 Spellcaster monster]

Even though he had fused with Aisha's Xyz Monster Slacker Magician, the monster that emerged was none other than Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl standing side by side.

"You truly pulled it off, Miles. In a Tag Duel, using a teammate's monster as Fusion Material!"

Though the card featured the pair, its Fusion requirement only called for either Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl, plus one Spellcaster monster.

And Slacker Magician was the Spellcaster Miles needed.

"It's your first time using my Deck, yet you're already syncing Rituals and Fusions into one combo. I admit it—when it comes to Dueling, you're really good!"

Miles has earned the title: Acknowledged by the Gray Witch.

"Amazing, Miles! Now the momentum's completely reversed!"

"Then let's end this! Battle!"

Miles declared his Battle Phase. With the field cleared, the Millennium Ring now had to face two top-tier Spellcasters going in for direct attacks.

"A total of 5300 direct damage—this burst of magical annihilation will send you back to the darkness, Millennium Ring!"

Though it was two monsters, the scene depicted three mages combining their wands, their magical energy focusing to a point that darkened even the skies.

"Dark Burning Burst!"

The direct attack fired in a flash, bursting through the entire Shadow Game barrier, straight at the unguarded white-haired loli.

"Blah blah blah—all that tactical analysis, and you still don't understand the terror of the Sacred Beast Hamon!"

"ROOAARR!!"

That familiar monstrous roar—despite being destroyed this turn, Hamon's massive phantom image materialized just before the fatal blow, shielding the Millennium Ring with its skeletal wings.

"What?!" Aisha reeled. "A destroyed Sacred Beast is still protecting her?"

"Hehehehahaha!"

Hiding under Hamon's phantom wings, the white-haired loli laughed without restraint.

"Defensive Traps? Deckbuilding flaws? Hahaha—who needs them? As long as Hamon exists, you can't even scratch me. This is Hamon's parting effect!"

[During the turn this card is destroyed, you take no damage.]

"The turn Hamon is destroyed, I take zero damage—not even a point! You think I need defensive cards? Don't insult the power of the Sacred Beasts with your naive assumptions!"

Thanks to Hamon's last will effect, even with an empty field, the Millennium Ring took no damage from the triple-caster assault.

"I Set one card and end my turn."

Since Hamon's final protection had activated, no matter how fierce Miles' assault was, it meant nothing this turn.

"My turn! Draw!"

As the Millennium Ring drew to start her turn, Hamon's massive phantom slowly faded from the field.

"Question," the white-haired loli said with her signature wicked grin. "If I don't need any Trap Cards to defend, then what are the rest of my Spell Cards for, after summoning Hamon?"

"What are they for?"

Aisha leaned right into the provocation, and Miles felt like she was born to play the straight man.

"Answer! Naturally, they're used to enhance the power of Sacred Beasts and crush you completely. Quick-Play Spell: Mystical Space Typhoon! I destroy your Set card from last turn!"

A blue whirlwind formed atop the card Miles had Set last turn, shredding it to pieces.

Trap Card Magic Cylinder Destroyed

"Hahaha! This card again? Hilarious. I already told you, it's useless against Sacred Beasts!"

Miles flipped the counter, "When a Spell or Trap Card is activated, The Dark Magicians lets me draw 1 card!"

"Drawing won't save you! My second Spell is ready to erase your resistance. The thunder to match Sacred Beasts—A-rank Spell: Raigeki!"

[Destroy all monsters your opponent controls.]

Blinding and brutal, few cards match Raigeki in sheer simplicity and power.

Where its lightning strikes, nothing survives.

Caught in the electric blast, both Magician of Chaos and The Dark Magicians were obliterated.

"Now you're wide open. Helpless before me."

And the Millennium Ring still had one more Spell Card in hand—an absurdly powerful one that would let her revive Hamon and finish Miles and Aisha.

"Where is that?"

However, as the lightning faded, two monsters still stood on Miles' field.

"Unlike you, I don't leave myself totally exposed."

Miles made sure to taunt the Millennium Ring before activating his effect.

"When The Dark Magicians is destroyed, I can Special Summon one Dark Magician and one Dark Magician Girl from my Graveyard! Return now, greatest of mages!"

[Dark Magician] DEF: 2100

[Dark Magician Girl] DEF: 1700

Summoned back in Defense Position, the aloof Dark Magician and the charming Dark Magician Girl crouched on the field.

Playing it safe, Miles anticipated that if the Millennium Ring's final card revived Hamon, having them in Defense Position would minimize damage.

But her final card had Miles laughing inside.

"Activate Spell Card: Card of Demise!"

[Card of Demise Spell Card Effect: Draw until you have 5 cards in hand. During your 5th Standby Phase after activation, send your entire hand to the Graveyard.]

Originally used by Seto Kaiba in the early anime, this was the fully powered version of Card of Demise.

Among the trio of Pot Spells, it was sometimes called the strongest.

Miles had assumed it didn't exist on the Spirit Continent—it didn't even appear in the Magic Directory.

Yet if it wasn't listed but the Millennium Ring had it, that meant Card of Demise could only be crafted after unlocking a specific monster series.

The other two Pot Spells likely followed the same logic.

Even most A-rank Spells—though often Forbidden—didn't include the anime's trio of Pots.

"Since it's my last card, I draw five from my Deck. I'll just worry about that five-turn penalty later, hehe."

'What penalty?!'

Discarding your entire hand five turns later? Miles suspected Kaiba added that just to make the card seem fair, though it never affected him.

With one card, she went from 0 to 5 in hand. Miles and Aisha's Tag Duel opening hand advantage had now been nullified.

"Hehehe…I drew it! Spell Card: Spell Reborn! By banishing three Spell Cards from my Graveyard, I can revive Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder!"

As Hamon returned to the field, the tides of battle once again tipped toward the Millennium Ring.

"Lightning of the Lost Paradise! Destroy Dark Magician in Defense Position!"

The sacred thunder roared. Dark Magician Girl could only watch as her master vanished in the lightning.

"And Hamon's effect triggers: when it destroys a monster, it inflicts 1000 damage! Hell Penance!"

[Irena & Aisha, LP: 4000 → 3000]

"Aaaaaaaah!"

The double impact from Hamon's lightning in the Shadow Game made even the magically resistant Irena feel like her body was being torn apart.

"Hahahahaha! Suffer! Wail! Let your pain fuel the power of the Sacred Beasts! Turn end!"

Even with four cards left in hand, the Millennium Ring was content to end her turn with just Hamon on the field.

After all, if Hamon was destroyed again, she'd take no damage that turn. The ultimate sword and shield in one.

"Are you alright, Miles?"

Seeing Miles—still inside Irena's body—take the blast head-on, Aisha worried.

"I'm fine. Focus on the Duel, Aisha. It's your turn."

"Right. My turn! Draw!"

Drawing her card, Aisha honestly didn't know how to deal with Hamon's offense and defense combo this turn.

She didn't have Miles' miraculous top-decking.

Even so, when her emerald-green eyes fell upon the card she drew, something stirred within her.

"This card… Irena-senpai..."

Back then, Irena had handed her this precious card to help her avoid expulsion.

It was thanks to that card that Miles had beaten Kevin Seth in the Dropout Duel.

"If it's this card from Senpai, I can still make a difference in this Duel!"

Even without proof, Aisha trusted her instincts and threw down the card.

"Our bond—Senpai and I's—I'll prove it with this card! I Summon in Defense Position: Crowned by the World Chalice!"

TL: I gave up on finding this card after hours, feck. Tell me if u can: 复活的祭品 (Spell Reborn as placeholder), or it could just be a mistake or something.
