Chapter 144: Trial of Lightning Sword God Part 1
"So, this is the real Trial Ground?"
Standing in front of a large castle, Tyler asked.
"Yes, should be! I have been here before." Anna replied.
"Then, what are we waiting for? Invitation?"
Tyler chuckled as he stepped forward. His body radiated the fierce lightning energy and sword intent as he stepped towards the door.
It was a subconscious reaction.
He raised his head, looking at the lightning sword on top of the castle, with a smirk on his face.
'Guess, the power still resides within it. But, it's far worse than that.'
As he thought, he stepped forward, making his way inside the castle. He turned back, only to find Anna struggling but not giving up.
It was clear that she was being forced to release her Fist Intent, which was only causing more problems for her.
'Well, I didn't expect this result. But since I created this, I need to fix it.'
Tyler's control over his Sword Intent was strangely amazing. Because of his experiences inside the simulations, he had gained extraordinary control over them.
Despite awakening recently, he was as good as any swordsman with Sword Intent.
And he only proved it right as he released his Sword Intent. A sword instantly appeared in front of Anna.
Unlike the normal swords, it was an energy sword.
When Anna saw this, she didn't panic. She let the sword pierce her forehead.
A second later, Sword Intent covered her body, protecting her from this strange aura.
"Thanks!"
Anna thanked him as she walked next to him.
Tyler nodded as they continued moving forward until they sensed something, or someone.
It was a hazy feeling. Tyler could feel his Sword Intent trembling.
It was excitement, fear, and awe, all mixed into one.
"Shh!"
Tyler released his Chaotic Force and suppressed his Sword Intent. If this continued, it would only make him look weak.
"That is a nice energy you have."
A soft voice came as a lady slowly walked towards them.
"A sword?"
Tyler spoke with amazement when he saw the girl. Because in his eyes, he wasn't seeing her as a female but a sword.
It felt so confusing that he had to clear his eyes.
"What sword? This is clearly a woman. You are being rude."
Anna elbowed his ribs as she whispered.
"No, she is a sword. Wait, I heard about something called Sword Spirit. Is that what you are?"
Tyler asked. The awe in his face didn't disappear, only strengthened when he tried to make sense of her existence.
"Your eyes are sharp. Yes, I am a Sword, not a spirit, but a physical sword." The woman smiled as she replied.
"But… how is this even possible?"
Anna asked in absolute shock.
"It's not a normal transformation, is it?" Tyler narrowed his eyes as he asked.
"No! This feels weird. Talking to participants about my life. But from what I can within you, I don't see any reason to hide it."
The woman smiled and continued.
"My name is Mu Rong. I am a Sword Spirit that took a drop of Immortal Origin Energy, a gift from my husband's teacher."
"After taking it, I transformed from a Sword Spirit to a normal human. But of course, some people still can see my original form."
When Anna heard that, her eyes widened.
"Wait, your husband? Are you talking about the Lightning Sword God? You are his Wife?"
'Gulp'
Even Tyler stared at her with amazement while swallowing hard. He couldn't believe someone was crazy enough to marry his Sword Spirit.
Mu Rong chuckled upon seeing their reactions. It felt normal. After all, before becoming a human, she was a pure Sword Spirit.
Suddenly, Tyler realized something and asked.
"Wait a minute! This doesn't make sense. He is known as Lightning Sword God, right? So, why are you only Sword?"
Anna gave him a weird look and asked.
"What the hell do you mean?"
"She is a sword. There is no trace of lightning in her. How could she be Lightning Sword God spirit if she only has Sword Law?"
Tyler explained as he inadvertently released his Sword Intent.
In case this went south, he would have to protect himself and Anna.
"Sure enough, I am not wrong about you."
Mu Rong smiled and shook her head.
"You are not wrong. I am a Sword Spirit. My husband is known as Lightning Sword God, but the Sword Spirit he created doesn't have Lightning Law."
"He used the Immortal Origin Energy to transform my body before something bad happens to me."
At this moment, Tyler's expression darkened. His Sword Intent disappeared as he spoke.
"You are a Sword Spirit without any connection with Lightning. But even so, you shouldn't be damaged by lightning, right?"
"That's simple. I was just a common sword."
Mu Rong opened her palm, and a silver sword appeared in her hand.
"It's just a replica. I was just like this, no powerful materials, no powerful blacksmith, no talismans and arrays, just a plain sword."
"My husband left the Spirit Realm and entered the Immortal Realm. It was said that he carried the part of the Lightning Emperor Bloodline."
"But he dearly loved swordsmanship. He loved me. Even after he gained several powerful swords, he kept using me."
"But deep down, he knew it wouldn't be long before I broke. So, he decided to reach the Sword Spirit Realm before he merged his Sword Law and Lightning Law."
"His teacher had high hopes for him. He wanted my husband to combine those two laws, but my husband knew the Sword Spirit could only be formed in a sword he uses."
"If I break before he reaches this realm, the Sword Spirit will be born in a new sword, but that will not be me."
"So, he made this decision. As much as his teacher felt disappointed, he also admired my husband for his love of swordsmanship. After all, my husband's main talent was still about lightning."
"Everything he achieved in swordsmanship was simply because of his love for swordsmanship and hard work. No talent, no lucky encounter, just pure love for swordsmanship."
When he heard that, Tyler clenched his fist.
He couldn't help but remember when he used to blame himself for not having talent instead of trying hard.
At this moment, he felt inferior to this Lightning Sword God.
He didn't think Mu Rong was lying. When she was talking about her husband, the smile on her face was genuine.
And, so were her words. That's exactly what struck him.
Everything he achieved was purely by luck and overwhelming resources.
His talent and Willpower were flawed.
Not weak but flawed.
He couldn't help but reflect on his life. He had strong Willpower, but only when his family suffered.
As if his life didn't matter to him. As if his situation didn't matter to him.
He wanted change, but he was afraid.
He was afraid of changing himself. He was afraid his goal would disappear.
At this moment, Mu Rong had seemingly appeared in front of him. She pressed his head and softly spoke.
"Your inner turmoils are consuming you, child. Despite disappointing him, his teacher didn't give up on him."
"Because my husband truly loved swordsmanship. This love didn't come from his admiration or goal. It was cultivated."
"Slowly but surely, he found life in swordsmanship. And that's where I was born."
"Do not feel afraid of your change. Every moment, every decision, will help you learn something, carve something new within you."
"That new is the change. It doesn't have to replace the previous one. It just has to find something that truly fits you."
Hearing her words, Tyler felt relaxed. Something, a kind of shackle slowly breaking in his heart.
"Thank you!"
He whispered.
"It's okay. As I said before, I can see your potential, what you can achieve. This trial won't be much use to you, but even so, rules are rules."
"So, let's start, shall we?"
Mu Rong smiled and asked.
"Yes, please!"
Tyler and Anna nodded at the same time.
Mu Rong snapped her finger, and two of them disappeared from the hall.
"Jianchen, I have found your successor."
She looked at the top of the castle, a sword that was releasing a strange aura, and whispered.
"It is small, so small that if I weren't familiar with it, I would've missed it. He has the trace of the father's Sword Law."
"I am not sure why, but it is there. Could he really be the one who will fulfill your true ambition?"
She smiled and whispered.
"I hope so. After my father died, after you died, I thought I would always be alone. But, I didn't think him to be related to both of your teachers."
"Your first teacher's bloodline. He has it. Father's Sword Law trace, he has it. I am not sure how I got those, but I really hope this will bring our little family together."
"Time has come for someone to hold your sword."
