Dragon King Palace: Urban Affluent Son-in-Law

Chapter 16 Handover!

Situ Yan left the interrogation room, partly to calm herself and restrain her impulse to explode in violence, and partly because she requested all the surveillance footage from the Dynasty to see what really happened in the videos.

In the hallway, Liu Shiyuan, Zhang Qinyao, and others were still sitting there awaiting interrogation; one of the playboys had already been called into another interrogation room, but it wasn't their turn yet.

Seeing Situ Yan approaching, Liu Shiyuan immediately rushed up anxiously, exclaiming, "Officer! Brother Jiang is a good man! He's the one who rescued me from Jian Yu's clutches. Please don't wrongfully accuse him!"

"Sit down!" barked an action officer in charge of supervision behind Liu Shiyuan.

Situ Yan frowned but kept walking without saying anything; the surveillance footage would tell her everything she needed to know.

In the video room, Situ Yan used what little patience she had left to open and watch the surveillance from the "Jinghua Spring Dream" room, fully reviewing everything that happened inside.

When she saw Jian Yu failing in his attempts to coerce and then trying to force Liu Shiyuan down onto the sofa, ready to assault her, Situ Yan clenched her fists tightly!

Jian Yu was known as one of the most notorious playboys in the city, always bullying men and harassing women; his countless vile deeds were too many to document. Just this scene alone was enough to convict him of attempted rape.

Situ Yan didn't doubt that if she had been there at the time, she wouldn't have suppressed her anger but would have beaten Jian Yu up, as she had no qualms kicking certain body parts before. She utterly detested such brazen behavior.

However, Situ Yan carefully noticed that Jiang Feng was indeed different from the information she had on him!

The information described Jiang Feng as a humble and debased son-in-law of the Nangong Family, but the Jiang Feng in the footage seemed like a completely different person!

The ferocity of his kicks couldn't be described with just harsh, steady, and precise; even when Situ Yan slowed down the footage to three times the speed, she still couldn't clearly see the speed of Jiang Feng's kicks.

Additionally, at the start, Qiangzi had smashed a bottle on Jiang Feng's head, but Jiang Feng was unharmed, amazming Situ Yan even further, as she believed that without solid martial arts skills, this couldn't have been done!

"Could this guy have been hiding his strength all along, deliberately showing weakness?"

"Underneath that facade of decadence and cowardice, is he actually a terrifying existence???"

Imagining this possibility, Situ Yan increasingly felt that Jiang Feng was no ordinary person, hiding himself so deeply that he almost fooled her!

"That bastard, could he be one of 'those people' in society? Without the video, I wouldn't have known he was so good at playing the fool!" Situ Yan thought angrily!

As a chief action officer, Situ Yan knew that there was a type of martial arts master in society, adept at hiding themselves, never showing off, but when they erupt, none are easy to handle!

Yet she herself had never faced such a person. She admitted she had received special training and won the city's combat championship, honing herself daily. If she were to face such a person, what are her chances of winning?

Suddenly, she felt a strong urge to spar with Jiang Feng!

...

Leaving the interrogation room, Situ Yan was still engrossed in her thoughts.

"That bastard, no wonder he was so confident; he had the skills to back him up and didn't take me seriously!"

Now that she had watched the surveillance and learned the truth, Situ Yan had figured things out.

Jiang Feng's issue wasn't as big as it seemed; it looked like violence, but there were reasons for it. Qiangzi had attacked him first and very hard, so it could be considered self-defense.

As for Jian Yu, he also attempted to intimidate Jiang Feng and attempted rape. If Jiang Feng's actions were deemed as assisting righteousness, it would make sense, and in that case, not only would Jiang Feng be innocent, but he would also be commended!

"Dare to take advantage of me, huh? Just wait, this isn't over; tonight, I'll test your depth!" The more Situ Yan thought about it, the more indignant she became, speeding up her pace in anger.

Just then, a colleague in uniform suddenly walked over from the opposite direction and smiled at Situ Yan, saying, "Yan'er, the boss just called me to take over the case you are handling, since you're clearly off duty today. The boss even called you back, such a fuss for you. Now you can go back and have a proper rest."

"Huh?" Situ Yan was caught off guard. This colleague casually wanted to take over Jiang Feng's case?

"Li Ke, you better call me by my full name. And besides, this case is under my control now. Why would it be transferred to you?" Situ Yan frowned.

"Maybe there's some consideration from above? I don't really know. The boss called me, so here I am. It's that simple," Li Ke shrugged.

"Some other consideration? From what I know, you had a different task tonight. The boss stopped it at the last minute to transfer you here because Jian Hongsheng called the boss, didn't he?" Situ Yan said bluntly.

"Situ Yan, how can you say that!" Li Ke put on an indignant expression, "What do you take me and the boss for? I reckon the boss is worried about you being overwhelmed, not wanting to take too much of your rest time, so he arranged it this way. The boss is balancing things out, and as subordinates, we are to obey. How dare you question the boss's orders?"

"Li Ke, I'm not a three-year-old. Since I started at the South City Action Department, Jian Hongsheng has been in the boss's office more than ten times. No, actually, more than ten times that I've personally seen! Is it because this case involves his son, Jian Yu, so Jian Hongsheng asked for special care, hence you being assigned?" Situ Yan retorted unyieldingly.

"Hey, if you put it that way, there's nothing I can do. If you have issues with the boss's orders, go talk to the boss. It's no use complaining to me, I'm just following orders," Li Ke, seeing that Situ Yan was not convinced, passed the hot potato back to the superior.

"I will find him, but I remind you, Li Ke, you are a part of the action department. You should know your responsibilities: we are here to protect the people, work for the people, and maintain social stability, not to serve certain individuals, nor allow some people to have special privileges in interfering with us. I believe you understand what I mean!"

After saying this, Situ Yan brushed past Li Ke and continued walking forward.

Li Ke stood alone, his expression difficult and ever-changing, yet he was helpless.

...

At the end of the corridor, Situ Yan dialed her superior's phone: "Boss, I want to know why the Dynasty KTV incident I was responsible for tonight was suddenly handed over to Li Ke?"

"Xiao Yan, I'm just considering that you've been busy lately, always at the forefront and working hard, so I wanted to give you more rest time! For such a minor matter, Li Ke can totally handle it. You should rest more, and I'm even considering giving you a few days off to truly refresh yourself," said the voice on the other end with a laugh.

"A minor matter? Boss, if you insist on labeling such a serious violent incident as minor, I have nothing else to say; but what I will say is that I will report this matter to higher departments. I will take it as your lack of trust and recognition in my case-handling methods and abilities!" Situ Yan said nonchalantly.

"Situ Yan, what do you mean by that? If you have objections to my arrangements, feel free to report it, but this matter is settled!" the other end said, then immediately hung up.
