"Hey! You there, from today onward, I'm your master! You will call me Lord Babidi! Got it?! My dog!" Babidi glared at Vegeta with displeasure, pointing a finger at his nose while continuously berating him.
Vegeta slowly raised his head; his eyes trembled, as if an inner battle raged within him. His eyes turned blood-red. Seeing no response from Vegeta, Babidi prepared to cast his magic once more to force Vegeta into obedience.
"I told you to call me master! Didn't you hear me?!" Suddenly, Vegeta lifted his head, looking at Babidi with contempt.
"Is that so?"
Swish, Swish, Swish!
At that moment, the battlefield was once again illuminated by the radiant light of Super Saiyan 3. Vegeta's hunched back straightened instantly, his supreme, defiant posture returning to the earth.
Witnessing this, Babidi's heart was trampled by a stampede of wild horses. His eyes glazed over in disarray, and he kept muttering over and over:
"N-No… impossible! My magic is the strongest! He can't possibly have his own will! Obey my commands! My dog!"
Refusing to believe it, Babidi tried to tighten his magical grip on Vegeta's mind again. But Vegeta remained firm, resolutely standing his ground.
"How could the proud Saiyan prince be controlled by a disgusting worm like you? But I do have to thank you, your interference only made my power stronger. And to show my gratitude, I'll reduce you to ashes, you ugly freak!"
Vegeta's body flashed like lightning, moving at an impossible speed too fast for anyone to see, charging at Babidi.
In that fleeting second, Babidi sensed that this was the moment he was closest to death.
"Buu! Save me!!" Babidi wailed in desperation.
Just as Vegeta was about to strike Babidi down, a massive figure suddenly erupted from a cloud of smoke. The Phantom Demon Hirudegarn intercepted the blow intended for Babidi.
Then, the Phantom Demon disappeared in a puff of smoke without a trace, taking Babidi along with him.
Only three remained on the battlefield.
Vegeta cursed loudly, "Tch! I'll kill those two first, then come for you!"
He then turned his gaze toward Majin Buu but to his surprise, Majin Buu was staring blankly at the spot where Babidi had just been. Buu's mind seemed to be working quickly, and moments later he murmured, "Babidi… doesn't want me anymore?"
"Great!! Buu is free!" He exclaimed happily, acting like a big goofy monkey.
Buu's cheerful laughter stunned Vegeta.
[What's going on with this guy?!]
While Vegeta's thoughts lingered, Broly suddenly rose into the air and fired an energy blast at Vegeta. It was clear Broly wasn't willing to give up. Broly's defiance reignited the resentment burning inside Vegeta.
His clenched fist swung wildly, striking toward Broly. Believing himself free, Majin Buu excitedly scampered away from the battlefield. Without Babidi nearby, Buu was like a wild horse running free, wandering wherever he pleased.
"You bastard! I'll tear you to pieces!" With a roar, Vegeta landed a punch on Broly's jaw.
Broly's unruly body was propelled uncontrollably once again.
Thick-skinned and tough, he licked the blood at the corner of his mouth and flew back toward Vegeta. The very next second, something happened that Broly couldn't comprehend. Vegeta suddenly reverted from his Super Saiyan 3 state, transforming instead into Super Saiyan 2.
This left Broly thinking Vegeta had run out of the power to maintain Super Saiyan 3.
"Heh, I don't think you can beat me, because I only get stronger the more I fight," Broly said confidently to Vegeta.
Vegeta didn't respond, but he was surprised to hear Broly speak in such a manner; he'd always assumed Broly was just a brainless brute who charged headfirst into battle. As the two prepared for another collision, Broly again chose brute force, swinging a powerful punch at Vegeta.
But just when he thought he had the upper hand, Vegeta's advancing body suddenly spun a full 360 degrees.
In Broly's eyes, a sharp-featured man with flowing golden hair flashed past.
Vegeta dashed by with astonishing speed, leaving Broly baffled.
Suddenly, Broly felt a burning gust graze his face.
Crack!
A sharp, crisp sound rang out beside his ear as Broly's glazed eyes caught sight of a rapidly moving leg. That leg, Vegeta's, had just been pulled away from his temple. Broly hadn't even realized when it struck him.
Pffft--
A mouthful of old blood sprayed from Broly's lips as his muscular body collapsed to the ground. From Broly's perspective, Vegeta's form had clearly reverted from Super Saiyan 3 to Super Saiyan 2.
At this point, Broly finally realized that it wasn't that Vegeta lacked the power to maintain Super Saiyan 3. Instead, at the very instant their bodies met, Vegeta was switching back into Super Saiyan 3, unleashing explosive attacks.
But by then, it was too late. Vegeta's blow had already dealt massive damage. Broly lunged to his feet, staggering, but his powerful Saiyan body compelled him to keep fighting.
Time and again, Broly got up and fought on.
He believed that the more punishment he endured, the more he could adapt to Vegeta's attacks. But he underestimated one thing: right now, Vegeta was burning with overwhelming rage.
With each clash, Vegeta's punches landed harder than the last.
Bang, Bang, Bang,
Vegeta reveled in his vengeance. He maintained his stamina in Super Saiyan 2, then switched to Super Saiyan 3 for heavy-hitting attacks.
Only Vegeta could conceive such a brilliant strategy to overcome Super Saiyan 3's drawbacks. This was the result of repeated transformations and adaptation during his time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
At last, after many brutal exchanges, the ground beneath Broly gradually turned bright red. Broly's tough body exceeded even Vegeta's expectations, after all that, Broly still hadn't died.
But precisely because of this, Vegeta could vent his hatred even more thoroughly. After all, the one Broly killed, the one who drove Vegeta to change, was his son.
"Final Flash!!!"
Finally, the attack Vegeta couldn't unleash before was fired full-force at Broly. At that moment, even the savage Saiyan who had never known pain, Broly, let out an agonized scream.
Vegeta turned without looking back, tears glimmering at the corners of his eyes.
"Trunks…"
Beating Broly to a pulp couldn't ease Vegeta's grief over losing his son. Vegeta raised his head, gazed at the sky, and in his mind, he saw Trunks's smiling face.
Just then, something utterly unexpected played out on the horizon.
He wiped his eyes, checking again in disbelief, before exclaiming, "Burter?! Recoome! Jeice?! Aren't they… aren't they dead?!"
And at that moment, someone, well, more of a frog than a person, was even more shocked than Vegeta.
Not far from Broly, a frog stared up at the sky in complete astonishment.
