Dragon Ball Roshi

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Escape from the Demon Realm

After tightly closing his eyes for a moment, Taro pressed his temples, trying to calm his exhausted mind. Then, he wiped the blood off his face and slowly opened his eyes.

Nothing.

Taro squeezed his eyes shut and opened them again, but still… he couldn't see.

It felt as if a thick, dense fog had completely covered his sight. He could only vaguely make out some outlines through the fog. But with only these outlines, he couldn't even distinguish the direction. Even the concept of up and down was determined solely by the gravity beneath his feet.

"Phew"

Taro exhaled deeply, releasing all his complicated emotions, and tried to regain a peaceful state of mind.

He pressed the four-star Dragon Ball in his pocket, feeling slightly relieved. If it had fallen, with his current state, he wouldn't have been able to retrieve it. Taro took out the last senzu bean from his belt and placed it in his mouth.

Crunch.

After casually chewing a few times, Taro closed his eyes and swallowed the senzu bean.

All the physical energy he had expended was instantly restored. The sensation… was truly strange, as if there were an inexhaustible energy abyss inside his body that he normally couldn't perceive. After eating the senzu bean, he could draw boundless power from it.

Even his spirit felt invigorated after his body was fully restored.

Taro opened his eyes again… but it was still the same as before, foggy and unclear, no different from being blind.

"As expected… the Mangekyo's curse isn't so easily broken… This blindness isn't considered a 'wound,' is it? Is it similar to Goku heart disease, a spontaneous condition in the human body? Was this original blindness something that couldn't be solved, or is it just the Mangekyo-induced blindness that can't be fixed?"

Taro murmured. Of course, he didn't know the answer to this question. He could only accept the current reality as it was.

Suddenly—

"Someone's coming? This energy… Is it the Black Demon King? Did he sense the Red Demon Queen's disappearance?" Taro furrowed his brow, his white, hazy eyes looking in a particular direction.

After thinking for a moment, he remained still. The energy signature he suspected to be the Black Demon King was rapidly approaching. Taro descended to the ground and sensed a faint presence from a distant direction. He then extracted a portion of his energy and used the ninefold Muken technique to propel himself swiftly along the ground.

He only extracted part of the energy so the Black Demon King wouldn't detect him. Using the ninefold Muken technique allowed for high-speed movement with explosive power.

This was one of the advantages of the Muken over the Kaioken: its stealth.

In essence, the energy within Taro's body hadn't increased; he simply knew how to use it more efficiently than others.

Since he could barely see, Taro decided to close his eyes entirely. As he ran, the wind brushing against his face, he felt as if he hadn't lost his vision at all. Except for the initial discomfort, he swiftly moved across the rough terrain with ease.

After going blind, Taro was actually able to focus more on sensing his sixth sense, the energy around him. In the pitch-black world of his consciousness, there were tiny flickers of white light in the distance, farther and farther away, some very faint. These lights represented other people's energies—some strong, some weak, some radiating malice, others… even greater malice.

"Hmph, the Demon Realm, huh."

Taro sought out a lone evil energy and quickly headed in that direction.

---

"Did that energy vanish? Who was it? What happened to the Red Demon?"

The Black Demon King swiftly flew toward the location where the Red Demon Queen's energy had disappeared. Suddenly, halfway there, he encountered a few of the Red Demon Queen's personal guard demons. He caught one of them and asked. The demon guards, babbling madly, spoke incoherently, but the Black Demon King managed to make sense of the gist.

"Killed the Red Demon? A human? Heading to Demon Mountain? Returning to the human world?"

The Black Demon King trembled in anger, his body erupting with black energy. He unleashed a black energy blast, instantly crushing the incoherent guards into death.

"Stop dreaming!! Human!!"

With a sharp "slap," the Black Demon King turned around and flew toward Demon Mountain.

---

A patrolling demon soldier was hovering in the air when suddenly, his neck was "snapped" from behind! A hand gripped his neck like an iron clamp. The person's aura wasn't strong enough to instill fear in him, but the killing intent radiating from them was no joke.

"If you want to live, you'd better do as I say." A cold voice came from behind him.

The demon soldier's heart nearly leapt into his throat, his limbs numb with cold. He felt like any wrong move would result in this unknown person behind him tearing him to pieces.

"Y-yes, I'll do as you say." He nodded quickly, his body trembling.

He was just a low-ranking demon. How could he resist someone so powerful? It was all for the sake of his life!

"Take me to the end of the Black Blood River. I'm heading to Demon Mountain"

"D-Demon Mountain?!" The demon soldier gasped in surprise, instinctively turning his head. But the moment he did, his left arm was already severed from his body…

"This man's eyes… seem to be blind!" The thought flashed in his mind, and it was then that the demon soldier realized his left arm had fallen away. He stared blankly at the charred stump where his arm had been, and only then did the intense pain begin to pierce his mind.

"Don't say anything unnecessary, or make any unnecessary movements." Taro said indifferently as the flames on his hand gradually faded.

"Y-yes." The demon soldier, his face contorted in pain, obediently responded.

Thus, he led Taro toward the Black Blood River, toward Demon Mountain.

It was unclear how long they had been flying.

"Master, we've arrived. Ahead is Demon Mountain." The demon soldier stopped. Before he could finish his sentence, a powerful force struck the top of his head. A warm sensation surged into his senses… is this death? he thought, feeling himself collapse helplessly.

Taro strained his eyes, and in the distance, he could vaguely make out a tall, wide "wall" of black shadow blocking the way. He knew the demon soldier hadn't led him astray.

Concealing his presence, Taro lowered his flight altitude and headed toward the looming black shape ahead.

Suddenly, within his perception, he felt the presence of someone with an energy comparable to the Red Demon Queen's, rapidly approaching. It was the Dark Demon King, the same one who had been rushing toward his previous position!

"Why is he coming here again? This is bad, it seems like he ran into the Red Demon's subordinates and found out I'm heading to Demon Mountain!" Taro quickly pieced things together, and with his eyes closed, he stopped hiding his energy.

Boom!

Taro unleashed his energy to its peak. With the power of the Ninefold Muken, he sped forward at maximum velocity toward the black Demon Mountain!

The Dark Demon King's forehead was bulging with veins!

"So you're not hiding anymore! You think you can escape?!!"

Buzz—

In the blink of an eye, the Black Demon King had already covered several kilometers!

In just a few breaths, he saw a small figure in the distance, rapidly flying toward Demon Mountain!

"Don't even think about running! You think you can kill the Red Demon and still leave alive?!!"

The Black Demon King gathered a thick ball of black energy, as dark as ink, and threw it with all his might toward Taro.

"Die!!"

The black energy blast shot like lightning, crossing thousands of mountains and rivers in an instant!

It was getting closer, closer!

The Black Demon King clearly saw the small figure seemingly turn its head to look back at the incoming black energy wave. But it was too late! The energy wave hit him with pinpoint accuracy!

The blast pierced through him, from his back to his chest!

"Hahaha…" The Black Demon King sneered, but his eyes suddenly widened in disbelief. The human who should have been struck by the energy blast seemed unaffected, as if nothing had happened, diving headfirst into the black Demon Mountain!

As for the hole the energy blast should have left in his body… there was no hole at all?

The Dark Demon King stood frozen in mid-air, staring at the spot where the human had vanished into the mountain, as if raindrops falling into a river, disappearing without a trace.
