Dragon Ball Human

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Overcast

In the world of Dragon Ball, the brightest keyword is undoubtedly "hope".

The legendary Super Saiyan is hope.

The Spirit Bomb is hope.

The Sacred Water, Senzu Beans… Kamehameha, the Power Pole… Shenron, indestructible Seven Dragon Balls—all represent hope.

And the Flying Nimbus is, at this moment, the thing that brings hope to Yamiru, trapped in a desperate situation.

Perhaps, in Earth's ancient times, the Flying Nimbus was a spirit that responded only to the call of those with pure hearts. If someone shouted with greed or possessiveness, the Flying Nimbus would not respond. With the progression of time and the changes in humanity, the Flying Nimbus appeared less and less, and those who could summon it became increasingly rare. A vicious cycle was set in motion, where fewer and fewer people knew that the Flying Nimbus would answer the call of a pure heart.

"It seems I am a dying man, yet I am still good," Yamiru mused.

He lay on the Flying Nimbus, clutching the cloud tightly. Weakly tilting his head, he gazed down at the land below as they flew swiftly over mountains and rivers.

"So this is what it feels like to soar through the sky! And..." the Flying Nimbus flies so fast, yet he doesn't feel cold. Is it because the Flying Nimbus has some sort of protective ability, or is it simply that his fever has made his perception of hot and cold completely distorted?

But what truly surprised him was that just a moment ago, out of a sudden whim, he shouted before he died. He hadn't expected that it would actually summon the Flying Nimbus from the horizon. Even more unexpected was that someone like him—someone who had never done anything particularly pure—could actually ride the Flying Nimbus. He smiled to himself, thinking that perhaps the clarity of mind before death had purified his heart enough to allow him to sit upon it.

But, it didn't matter now.

Yamiru had already slain that annoying man, Blue. Although he had left the Sword given by Jiora behind, at least he was no longer in danger. With that thought, his mind grew more and more tired, and he collapsed into a deep sleep atop the Flying Nimbus.

This sleep felt like he had died once. He had several nightmares, his body, still lying on the Flying Nimbus, never stopped shivering. His lips cracked and turned a purplish hue, and his muscles and bones felt as if they were burning...

"Finally learned to fly!" Yamiru suddenly laughed aloud, despite the confusion flooding his mind—"When did I learn this?" "Where am I?" "When did I end up here?"—but he subconsciously ignored these thoughts. Standing at the edge of a cliff, he gazed at the vast landscape below. The horizon curved, and the world seemed to blend seamlessly, a breathtaking sight! Filled with excitement, Yamiru leapt forward...

"Oh ho—!!"

He screamed in excitement, but soon his excited shout turned into one of horror—he tried to use the Bokujutsu(flight technique) to soar, but… how was it done again?? Why can't I fly? I want to fly! I want to fly! But why am I still falling… Ah!!

"Ugh!" Yamiru suddenly woke up, his body trembling with chills as cold sweat covered him. He saw a golden mist in front of him... no, it wasn't mist, it was the Flying Nimbus! The cloud's body was blocking his view, covering his face. Yamiru was puzzled, suddenly considering a possibility. He looked around carefully, only to realize that he was "trapped" inside the Flying Nimbus!

The cliff fall nightmare from earlier was actually just the "weightlessness" reflection while on the Flying Nimbus.

"What... does this mean..." Yamiru lay still, too dazed to move. "Have I already lost my purity?"

The Flying Nimbus was still carrying him.

Yamiru, in some strange way, sensed a kind of message or intention coming from the golden cloud. The Flying Nimbus seemed to be warning him of the danger of falling. Moreover, he could feel the Flying Nimbus's affection for him was diminishing... In other words, the Flying Nimbus's favorability toward him was quickly evaporating...

"I'm still sick… can't you… cough, cough! Can't you make an exception…?"

Yamiru forced a smile, but suddenly, his body sank a little more, sending a fresh wave of cold sweat. They were hundreds of meters in the air! The Flying Nimbus was faster than an airplane! If he fell now, he'd be shattered into a million pieces with no other possible outcome.

"Alright, cough... Flying Nimbus, take me to the nearest… human-populated town…"

Yamiru's forehead was so hot it felt like he could fry an egg on it. Just a few minutes after waking, his energy began to drain again, and he fell back into a semi-conscious sleep. The Flying Nimbus, receiving his command, immediately turned in the air and headed straight toward the nearest human settlement. Before long, the outline of a large city came into view. However, by now, Yamiru had descended so low that he was about to touch the bottom edge of the Flying Nimbus. If the cloud didn't drop him soon, he'd really fall and die.

After all, the Flying Nimbus had some spiritual awareness, and as long as it didn't contradict the command, it could act on its own.

So instead of continuing to fly forward, it swooped downward. Yamiru, unconscious, slowly sank inside the Flying Nimbus, one of his legs already hanging out. As the Flying Nimbus adjusted its angle to a vertical dive, Yamiru's torso started to protrude. The cloud slowed, about twenty meters from the ground, and then began to glide downward at an angle. Yamiru suddenly plummeted, only one of his hands still gripping the bottom of the Flying Nimbus. The cloud dragged him, slowing down more until, just a few meters from the ground, it leveled off and let him fall safely to the ground.

Boom! Thud, thud, thud… Yamiru crashed onto the road several kilometers away from the city, tumbling a few times before landing on the side of a drainage ditch. He was still unconscious, his face flushed with fever, his breath weak, with no sign of waking up.

The Flying Nimbus slowly flew back, hovering next to the collapsed Yamiru. Its golden body swirled and undulated, not immediately leaving.

The sky changed, time passed. As pedestrians and vehicles passed by, some were surprised by the golden cloud, but the Flying Nimbus no longer paid attention to the still unconscious Yamiru. With a whoosh, it flew into the sky, becoming a distant star in the horizon. Yamiru remained unaware of all this, his mind full of swirling nightmares.

By evening, the sky became overcast, and rain began to pour.

Occasionally, a cyclist or someone running past the suburban road might have noticed Yamiru lying by the roadside, but no one paid him any mind. Perhaps some had noticed but chose not to get involved, ignoring him.

Yamiru was awakened by a chilling cold.

His face was gaunt, his skin sickly pale, almost transparent. One side of his face was immersed in the flowing rainwater of the ditch, while the other side was being reddened by the raindrops. His body was soaked, his teeth chattering, and as he tried to stand, he fell multiple times, getting covered in mud. Shivering uncontrollably, Yamiru stood in the torrential rain, hunched over and hugging himself, squinting around, unsure of where to go.

Breathing heavily, everything around him appeared gray and spinning.

He looked up through the heavy rain, staring at the leaden sky, and weakly uttered, "Don't you care about me anymore, Flying Nimbus? Come back..."

Alone, he trudged through the heavy rain, slowly making his way toward the city ahead. In the past, with his stamina, he could have run that distance in ten minutes, but now, after an hour and a half, he still hadn't reached. Along the way, he stumbled multiple times, his eyes swollen and bruised, yet he stubbornly continued forward.

"The Red Ribbon Army didn't... they didn't take my life... how can I... how can I die... die here..."

Yamiru crawled forward on the rain-soaked, muddy road.

Suddenly, a pair of rain boots appeared before his hands, blocking his way.
