Dragon Ball: A Better Bulma

Chapter 21: 21: Weak Bio-Warriors.

The huge cannons of the floating fortress began to fire energy projectiles at the ground, but except for the horrified look on Oolong's face, the others were calm.

It wasn't because they didn't feel the obvious threat of the attacks, but... both Goku and Chi-Chi were very trusting of Bulma. The blue-haired girl stepped forward and raised both hands to the sky.

Bulma's Ki boiled and a purple aura emanated from her, covering her arms and then spreading outward in an orderly formation. A dome of hexagons, like a bee's honeycomb, shielded the group from the bombardment.

If Pilaf had any detectors in his fortress systems, he could measure the amount of energy Bulma was emitting at that moment. 400 energy points. It would seem small, especially in the future, but now it was enough to protect them from Pilaf's relentless bombardment.

"Emperor Pilaf, won't the Dragon Balls be destroyed if we bomb them like this?" a humanoid-looking dog dressed as a ninja whispered to Pilaf, who was watching the constant bursts of energy on a holographic screen.

"No, my dear Shu. The legend says that they were created by Kami-Sama, how could something divine be destroyed by something mortal? The material composition of the orbs is truly special, and perhaps the destruction of this planet is capable of harming them.

As much as I would like to deny it, it is undoubtedly a sign that Kami-Sama is watching us up there. Only... why doesn't he seem to care what happens in the world he's supposed to be watching over?" Pilaf mused with a touch of maturity rarely seen in him.

As Emperor, he had knowledge that many did not have, and even with his doubts, he could not deny that the Dragon Balls were truly unique. Furthermore, when he met his new henchman Yamcha, Yamcha showed a power that a normal human would not have.

He had already read about these kinds of super powerful but very rare people who called themselves 'martial artists', and he had also obtained records of the tournaments that were usually held every three years.

He even read about the legendary Mutaito and the supposed demon that had ravaged the world centuries ago. But except for a few demonstrations, he always thought they were just tricks until he saw it.

Pilaf watched as Yamcha smashed one of Mai's mecha with his fists alone, even detecting traces of strange energy he couldn't identify.

So in Pilaf's eyes, this world had much more to offer, and his curiosity as a scientist burned within him. Yes, he wanted to rule the world like the emperor he was and would not hesitate to do so, but he had another thought, would the world stop being interesting if he ruled everything?

Then, in Pilaf's eyes, this world had much more to offer and soon something appeared on the holographic screen that made Pilaf smile, a shield of that strange energy had protected his enemies again. He hadn't expected it and took it as a sign.

Maybe, before he conquered everything with his desire, he could satisfy his curiosity with something new and fascinating. So he looked at Mai, who was standing next to him, and looked startled when she saw the images on the screen.

"Send the bio-warriors to fight, simple energy cannons won't do much. Let's hope my investment in this strange guy pays off," Pilaf ordered as he waved his hand carelessly.

"At your command, Emperor Pilaf," Mai bowed before leaving the room, leaving Pilaf alone next to his faithful servant Shu.

"Shu, how is our new companion Yamcha?" asked Pilaf in a cold tone, causing Shu to sweat a little nervously, but he quickly replied.

"He is in the armory with his strange flying pet, Your Majesty. He seems to want to use a pair of new swords and join the fight, although he seems to be hesitating," Shu reported, causing Pilaf to touch his chin in thought.

"Give him the two power swords, Shu, I want to see what a so-called martial artist can do with technological weapons. By the way, do you know where our new business partner is hiding?" asked Pilaf again, and this time Shu seemed to tremble as he remained silent.

"Shu, you know that I will not be angry with you even if you give me bad news, you are not just any henchman, you are my number three, after Mai, my number two," Pilaf said calmly, showing no trace of the immaturity that made him attack Bulma and her group.

"My lord, we lost track of the stranger who calls himself 'Doctor' in an inhospitable area of the planet covered with glaciers. He's probably using them to hide his tracks and signals, but we'll intensify the search," Shu said a little calmer this time, Pilaf's words made him feel much better.

"Don't worry, he's just a madman with some interesting ideas, but nothing more. What interests me is what I'm seeing right now," Pilaf pointed to the screen, where a group of strange warriors surrounded the quartet of protagonists.

"What ugly guys," Goku said when he saw the genetic aberrations in front of him, and it wasn't just an understatement.

The bio-warriors were hideous, not only did they have different body shapes that were unpleasant to look at, but you could see grotesque deformities and tumors on their bodies that even had extra limbs.

The terrain of the valley was completely torn up, with potholes spewing smoke, fallen trees, and large cracks in the ground, but the surrounding destruction seemed to pose no problem to the large crowd of bio-warriors.

"Kid, what did you say?" asked a thin, green-skinned bio-warrior with scales and a long tail that looked like a large needle.

"That you're ugly," Goku replied before lunging at the enemy, and the battle between them began.

One thing that could stand out about the young Goku with his adult version was his cruelty and ferocity. In the original story, Goku killed more people as a young man than as an adult, and the most interesting thing? He did it all with a pure and unadulterated heart, especially since he knew his enemies were evil.

With his Ki detection, Goku knew that the enemies around him were deviously evil as if there was no shred of goodness in them, so he didn't want to stop to chat with them.

His small fist drove straight into the enemy's abdomen, penetrating it completely before releasing a blast of ki that ended up doing all the work. The bio-warrior fell to the ground, oozing a strange yellow liquid from the hole, which now spewed a bit of smoke.

Chi-Chi, for her part, quickly lunged at an enemy who appeared to be female, but her figure was exaggeratedly wide and looked particularly repulsive with her pink skin.

There was a soft yellow glow in Chi-Chi's right hand, and as she waved her arm, the sound of cutting wind could be heard. She used a fledgling Ki sword to fight her enemy, who seemed to be much harder to defeat than the others.

Bulma looked at these enemies, something about them caught her attention, beyond the fact that the Ki of each of them seemed to be the darkest she had ever felt and that their emotions were completely messed up, but it was something else.

They were completely unnatural as if nature itself hated them. Bulma didn't hesitate much as she mimicked Chi-Chi's actions, only a purple Ki sword appeared in her hand a little more conspicuously.

This technique was really simple, especially due to the type of techniques and training they did, but it had quite high functionality when developed much further.

Bulma's goal? To have a ki-sword as cool as a certain super-powerful fusion, but nerfed in the future. Poor Oolong then witnessed a spectacle that would give him nightmares for years to come.

First Goku, the boy jumped around like a nimble monkey, and with the tail sprouting from his back, perhaps the term was well associated with him. The boy fought masterfully with his magic staff and all his limbs.

At this point, Oolong was grateful for Goku's obvious mercy in hitting him, because the little pig was now seeing the consequences of a serious hit from the boy.

Goku smashed one bio-warrior's head with a single blow of his staff, before aiming his hand at another and blasting it with a blast of yellow ki, causing it to explode and spill blood everywhere. The worst part? Goku's innocent smile.

'That monster! How can he smile when he is bathed in blood?' Oolong wondered when he saw something like that, and when he looked at Chi-Chi, he felt even more uncomfortable.

Chi-Chi might have inherited her father's brutality, because when she saw that her attacks were ineffective against the oversized enemy, she started to peel her skin provocatively.

Yes, even making fun of her exaggerated weight, just to get the monster to bend down and try to catch her, but Chi-Chi was quicker, firing her ki sword directly at the bio-warrior's head, piercing it.

"Father was right, the head is the weak point of many beings," Oolong heard Chi-Chi mutter, and he couldn't help but instinctively touch his head.

When an enemy tried to ambush the girl from behind, she jumped and spun around, slamming her leg into the bio-warrior's neck and sending him flying after she heard the crunch of a broken bone.

When Bulma used her detector, she could see that Chi-Chi only had 70 power points, but she used them properly and the more she fought other enemies, the more her power increased slightly, not to cause a single-digit change, but to show that the fight brought out her potential.

Bulma was a sight to see, it was obvious that she was much stronger than these enemies as she seemed to just walk around them while their heads fell to the ground and blood spurted from their severed necks like a fountain.

She even went out of her way to shoot them in the head with her pistol and even made little gestures as if debating whether to use her ki sword or her pistol.

She had the best time, not a drop of blood fell on her, and even if you noticed, small plants grew from the corpses of her enemies, slowly bringing life to the valley destroyed by the attacks of the flying fortress.

"How boring, the strongest of them only has about 60 power points," Bulma muttered as she kicked the crotch of a warrior who came very close to her as if to take advantage of her distraction.

But they look like the beings created by the scientist from the non-canon movie, will there be a canonical counterpart of him? Like what happened with Broly in Super?

'That would be interesting, although I know there is no Cooler due to Galactic Patrol records, they do seem to have reports of planets suddenly becoming barren for no apparent reason, although the last time that happened was centuries ago....

In addition to this forbidden zone of the galaxy where nothing technological seems to survive, some 'non-canonical' things might have their 'adapted' version in this universe. Should I ask Kami-Sama if there's someone like Garlic Jr. out there?

This universe is much more interesting,' Bulma thought before she shot the last bio-warrior in the head.

With all the bodies and blood around them, Bulma looked over at Chi-Chi, who seemed to be wiping Goku's face with a handkerchief, causing the blue-haired woman to smile before she saw the previously devastated, but now recovering nature around her.

"Interesting," Bulma noticed that the Ki of the bio-warriors they had killed seemed to be purified by the world and used to nourish life in this area again, perhaps one of the mysteries of this world.

She could only notice this because of her special connection to nature due to the essence of her being, probably not even Gohan had noticed this phenomenon as directly as she had, though he might have noticed its side effects.

'Where much blood is shed, strong plants grow' was a short lesson the old man had given her based on his experiences hunting in the mountains, and she could better understand its meaning now.

This world recycled everything that belonged to those who died in it in a very exaggerated way, and the fact that it had a divine position and one of the cruelest hells in the universe made Earth look like a relatively special planet.

It might also explain a bit about the exaggerated biodiversity on this planet; how could a simple phenomenon capable of extinguishing life wipe out the flora and fauna of a world that could replenish itself by plundering the corpses of its inhabitants? It was a bit obscure, but it made sense when you thought about it.

"Now I can understand the fear of those aliens a little more," Bulma said before she looked up at the fortress, another holographic image was projected.

It seemed that Emperor Pilaf wanted to dedicate some words to them.

AN: I plan to re-adapt the characters that appeared in non-canon movies, similar to what was done with Broly in Super. So don't expect to see Turles or Wheelo, they may just be counterparts with different names but similar purposes and intentions. Except for Cooler, he's too 'heavy' a character to have a place next to Freezer.

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
