Finn's stomach churned as he listened, slowly understanding why this woman had gone… completely off the rails.
"But she kneeew~~ was riiight abouf youuu! You are so special, speciiial~~~ she said you were herssss~ but I couldn't let her have youuu~~ no, so I took youuu first~~~~ keep you cloose~~~~ make me feel youuu, be inside youuu~~~~
So you seeee~~~ noww you are heree with meee~~~~ no one here, no one elsee will taake youuu~~~~ Nyahhh~~"
Finn gulped, his mind reeling. Seraphina stood frozen, scarred beyond belief. Neither of them had signed up for this. Seraphina had only come to investigate slime holes; Finn had come for Slime Melo. Instead, they had stumbled into Lysithea's insane, gooey obsession.
He prayed silently that this nightmare would end, because he couldn't handle slime ever again.
But he still didn't understand who this mysterious "she" Lysithea kept referring to was—and frankly, he wasn't sure he wanted to. Maybe Lysithea had been insane for decades. Maybe longer.
'Choices… choices…'
Finn glanced around the room one last time, taking in the grotesque, sticky walls before turning back to Lysithea.
"Listen… we have friends waiting for us above this place, and we'd really like to get home." He swallowed hard, trying to keep his voice calm. "We have to leave, Lysithea. I can't stay here forever—I'm sorry—but I have important things to take care of. Like… getting my fertility back."
"Nooo~~~ it's not faiiir! You want to leave me like herrr~~~~ I envied her, but now she's gone and lives with mee~~~ there's nothing about her I envy anymorrre~~~~"
She surged forward, arms stretching, slime quivering, ready to grab him.
"It's not faiiir~~~! Please stayy with meee~~~~~"
"Stop!" Finn yelled, stepping back, bracing himself.
Lysithea paused, slime quivering slightly, before finally lowering her hands. Finn exhaled, relief washing over him as he tried to steady his nerves.
"I don't know who 'she' is, and I don't know who you ate, or if they're even the same person! As much as it sounds… nice, and fun, and terrifying all at once… I can't. I need to get back to everyone else—outside of this cave, back to the real world. So just calm down and don't do anything crazy."
Lysithea's gooey form wobbled as she stared down at him.
"Whyyy~~~ it's so cold outsiiide~~~ cold-so-colddd… but here it's warm and safeee~~~~~ why wouldn't you want to stay here forever~~~~?"
Finn opened his mouth to repeat himself, ready to try reasoning again, but she spoke again before he could.
"Or maybeeee~~~~~ you will take me outside with you, and be with youuu~~~"
Finn froze. Seraphina, standing a some feet away, slowly shook her head in warning, the universal "bad idea" motion. And… yeah, it really did sound like one.
Finn rubbed the back of his head, trying to phrase it carefully. "I don't think I can bring you with me… people won't know how to react, and I can't really… take care of you, or… your slime. But I can't get you out. I can definitely visit!" He tried to inject a spark of enthusiasm at the end, hoping it would soften her disappointment.
Lysithea's form rippled in what might have been excitement—or slime-induced hysteria.
"Will you stay wiiith me foreveerrr~~~~? And be inside me, me being insiddde youu~~~~"
Finn froze for a split second, then nodded firmly. "Yes! Once I'm officially done with everything, I'll come back to you—and we'll be together forever. With… you inside me."
Seraphina just stared, blinking, utterly convinced Finn had officially, truly, irrevocably lost his mind.
"Youuuu promiiise~~~?"
"I promise," Finn said firmly.
"I cannn't waiiit for youuu~~~!"
Finn exhaled and tried to regain some semblance of control. "Hey… uh, Queen Lysithea… since we came to such a good agreement, why don't you help us get out of here and back to everyone else?"
The slime girl's goo pulsed as if she were considering it. Finn held his breath, praying she wasn't about to change her mind—or absorb him in the process.
"Oookkayyy~~~~"

And with that, everything was finally settled. The tension bled out of the air, and Finn let out a long, tired sigh of relief.
Finally. Hell was over.
Now all that was left was working with Slime Queen Lysithea to get the hell out of here—because at this point, that was the only thought crossing Finn's mind. He was mentally checked out, brain clocked off early, and ready to never see slime again.
The weird slimes that had been blocking Seraphina's path finally moving away, allowing her to hurry over and check him for wounds. Luckily, he wasn't injured—at least not physically. His mental state, however, was officially a smoldering ruin.
Still… despite everything that had just happened, Finn couldn't help but feel bad for Lysithea. Apparently, she had once been human—a queen, no less—before somehow becoming… well, that. And honestly? She was still really hot in Finn's book.
'I'll goon out of respect,' he told himself firmly in his head.
But the thought lingered—how had she even ended up like this? The part that stuck with him most was the idea of a ruler being adored by her people, only to be pushed aside in favor of something else entirely. Something gooey, hungry, and worshipped more than her.
It was wrong. This girl deserved better. She deserved the love and rest she'd been denied. If she really had been stuck down here for years, alone, killing some girl out of jealousy and waiting for him of all people to show up… yeah, that sucked.
He wanted to help her. He didn't know how, but he wanted to.
For now, though, the priority was clear: get out before the humanoid slime monsters decided to change their minds and kill them.
And their journey was only just beginning…
