Chapter 149: In A Pinch
Roarrr!
The winged lion let out a thunderous roar as it leapt into the sky, then crashed down onto the ground, sending debris flying in every direction.
The Dawnbloom group immediately scattered to evade the impact.
Meanwhile, the Black Eagle group was also struggling.
"Damn it! Where did this one come from?" Crow cursed, as their group was now facing two winged lions at once.
For the past 30 minutes, they had been fighting these monsters in two separate groups.
Initially, the situation was under control, each group handling one winged lion on their own.
They were close to victory until, out of nowhere, a third one arrived and disrupted the balance. Every time one of the winged lions was about to be defeated, the newcomer would swoop in at the last minute to protect it.
Now, two winged lions were attacking the Black Eagle group. While they had managed to deal with one earlier, facing two at the same time was proving to be incredibly difficult, especially with the monsters constantly taking to the skies to evade attacks.
Arrows were useless against their thick skin, rendering Evelyn and the other archers ineffective.
"Otis!" Phoenix shouted.
The man with the shield in her team immediately nodded and raised his shield overhead. Phoenix sprinted toward him, then jumped onto the shield. With a powerful push, Otis launched her into the sky. Phoenix soared upward, her rapier already drawn back, ready to strike one of the winged lions mid-air.
Swooosh!
The attack only grazed its tail as the winged lion swiftly soared higher to evade.
Phoenix grew frustrated, it was already the tenth time her attack had failed to connect.
"Come down here, you coward!" she snapped.
Suddenly, another winged lion dove at her while she was still helpless in the air.
"Be careful, big sis!"
But before it could hit her, P-Cock had already arrived, punching the lion's foreleg and causing it to roar in pain.
Phoenix and P-Cock landed at the same time.
"Thanks, sis," Phoenix said.
P-Cock nodded silently.
They turned their focus back to the two massive beasts in front of them.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, the Dawnbloom Guild was struggling, even though they were only up against a single winged lion. Most of their members were still inexperienced.
But under Beltimore and William's command, they managed to stabilize the situation.
Blackburn and William kept the monster's attention and aggro focused on them, limiting its movement. This gave the attackers space to act.
"Taste this! Moonlight Slash!" Lee shouted, slashing in a half-circle toward the lion's side.
"Rapid Strikes!" Mark called out, attacking from the other side.
The lion roared in pain as sharp blows landed from both sides. It tried to take off, but Maya quickly cast Ice Shard from above, the icy spikes crashing down onto its back and stopping its flight. Selene then leapt up and punched the lion square in the face, sending it toppling sideways.
"Nice!" William shouted.
"This is really easy like this!" Lee said. Thanks to the excellent tankers, a damage dealer like him had no problem attacking. Sooner or later, the monster would surely fall.
The lion then shook its head, still dizzy from Selene's punch.
Back to the Black Bandit group...
"Iyaargh!" Quail managed to grab the tail of one of the lions.
"Let's see where you think you're going." Quail grinned as the lion struggled to fly.
"Good job, Quail! Everyone, focus on that one!" Phoenix gave the order.
Then, led by Phoenix, the group of more than thirty bandits unleashed a barrage of skills and attacks on the lion, causing it to suffer heavy injuries.
It then fell to the ground, its body soaked in blood.
'We can do it !' William and Phoenix thought the same thing as their group moved in to finish the monsters.
Roar!
Out of nowhere, the third lion suddenly let out a thunderous roar that shocked almost everyone present. At the same time, the two nearly defeated lions stood back up and flew into the sky.
"Tch! It can still move?" Phoenix muttered, irritated.
All eyes turned upward as the trio of lions flapped their wings, hovering in the air. The lions roared at each other as if they were discussing something.
"What are they trying to do?" Rei asked. He stood beside Selene and Alia. As one of the youngest in the team, both Rei and Alia were told to stay close to Selene.
The lions then began to move. Everyone braced themselves, expecting an attack. But it didn't come.
The lions flew in circles high above, hovering above them. At first, nothing happened, and the people below were confused. But soon, they began to understand what the lions intended to do.
The wind suddenly became stronger and stronger. The roof of the building started to shake before it was blown away. The building was also bending, ready to collapse anytime.
On the ground, all the people were holding on to something as the wind tried to suck them upward. The situation became chaotic.
"Grab my hand!" Selene said as she extended her hand to Evelyn, who was also holding Maya. After struggling for a while, Selene managed to hold both of the girls.
William shouted at Beltimore, "Do something!"
Beltimore, who had been silent throughout the battle, finally moved.
He then cast the Storm Shards, up to tens surrounding him. He then released them toward the lion, but the strong wind in the area made the shards unable to hit the target and they were sucked into the tornado.
It seemed his skills were also powerless.
The lion then flew faster and faster, making the wind speed increase. The wind also affected the surrounding town.
Black Eagle members were also struggling to stay on the ground. They hugged the building pillars, but some of them were sucked into the tornado, lifted upward.
As the two groups were doing their hardest to survive, a trio arrived as they were attracted by the phenomenon.
The heroes are here.
