Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend

Chapter 134: Strategy Meeting

Inside one of the tents, Prince Reymond was currently studying a map of Daisy Town. Standing beside him were guards from the town, briefing him on the town's overall defense plan.

The tent was quite spacious, made from thick fabric. A tall wooden pillar stood at its center, supporting the structure. Several fire lamps were hung at each corner, providing ample light inside.

As their discussion continued, a guard entered.

"Your Highness, Prince Reid and the Guildmaster of Dawnbloom are here."

"Guildmaster?" Reymond paused, surprised for a moment.

"Let them in," he then ordered.

The guard bowed and exited the tent. Moments later, Reid and Mirinda entered.

"Brother Reymond, this is Mirinda, Guildmaster of the Dawnbloom Guild," Reid introduced.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Prince Reymond," Mirinda said, bowing politely.

"Me as well," Reymond returned the bow. In the back of his mind, a question lingered, why did his younger brother bring a guildmaster here?

Reid noticed his brother's puzzled expression and smiled.

"I spoke with Father and got permission to bring members of the Dawnbloom Guild to assist us. We need all the help we can get. Besides, the Dawnbloom Guild has recently acquired a new S-class adventurer. It's a great boost to our forces."

Mirinda wanted to mention that her S-rank adventurer was currently missing, but she chose to remain silent.

'They'll show up eventually… I hope,' she thought.

Reymond then recalled the rumors: the guild had gained a prime hybrid S-rank adventurer. He knew the name, but had yet to see the person in action. This, he thought, would be the perfect opportunity to witness what that man was truly capable of.

"Anyway, since you're already here, it's time to discuss the current situation." Reymond shifted his attention back to the matter at hand. He turned toward the map spread out on the table before him. "Sergeant Bertram, please proceed."

Reid and Mirinda stepped closer to the table. Sir Dave and Sir Saul also approached. Bertram, clad in white mail streaked with a line of blue, marking him as one of the local guardsmen, stood ready. He had brown hair and a thick beard, a man hardened by experience.

"Thank you, Prince Reymond. As we all know, Daisy Town is under attack by monsters. From our scouts, there are at least three confirmed Kaoslith involved in this disaster. But before I get to them, allow me to explain the town's overall layout and plan of defense." He gestured to the map, focusing on the west side.

"This is the port area, where we are now. It's usually only crowded during market hours, and not many people reside here. One of the Kaoslith is currently located here." He pointed to the northern part of the port, placing a red pin on the map. All eyes sharpened, locked onto the spot.

"We've already deployed a group to monitor the situation there. So far, the port is under control since there aren't many civilians and the number of monsters is relatively low. However, the real issue lies here." His finger moved to the eastern section of the map, filled with hundreds of drawn blocks, indicating residential areas.

He then pointed to two red pins, one located at the very center of the residential districts, and another just south of it.

"This is the most dangerous zone right now. The number of monsters here is double compared to the port area. The attack was abrupt and sudden, we weren't able to evacuate all the residents. We've only managed to secure the outer edges of the district and rescue those nearby. Many of the men I sent toward the center were killed in action. A few survived, but even they sustained major injuries." His voice wavered, and his face showed visible distress. He hadn't slept in over 24 hours since the attack began.

"How many guards do you have at present?" Reid asked.

"We originally had 250. Now... only around 100 are available. Most of them are stationed to protect the shelters," Bertram replied.

"The shelters, where are they located?" Mirinda followed up.

"Here," he said, pointing to a location in the western part of the residential district, "and another one down south. But the shelters can only hold around 500 people each at most. Our total population is 2,000."

"What about civilian casualties? Do you have the numbers?" Reid asked again.

"So far, we've confirmed 200 deaths, mostly residents in the central region. Another 300 are being treated in the shelters. But these numbers are likely higher, we still can't reach the deeper parts of the district."

"Two hundred dead…" Mirinda muttered quietly. Though the number was smaller than the tragedy ten years ago, it was still a terrible loss. A mass death like this… it was unforgivable.

The room fell silent.

"Then we need to plan right now. To prevent more deaths," Reymond said.

Reid pointed at the map. "We need to focus our forces more on the district zone. As for the Daisy Town army, pull them back from the region. Let them cover the shelters and the port area. They must already be tired."

"I agree with that," Reymond replied. "I will bring my forces into the heavily infested region."

"Prince Reymond will head toward the northern part of the district, while the Dawnbloom Guild and I will move to the south," Reid ordered.

All personnel, including Mirinda, nodded. Each showed determination. The plan was laid down. Now, it was time to move.

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Roar!

The sounds of slashes and monster groans erupted in the area near the port. Bipedal monsters resembling kangaroos, but with massive, hammer-like forearms, charged at Cynthia. She remained calm, even as the monsters came at her in groups.

Raising her sword, a dark aura began to emanate and leak from the blade.

The kangaroo monsters skidded to a halt, their eyes wide with fear.

Cynthia's gaze sharpened, focused squarely on her enemies. She then thrust her sword into the ground, driving it deep.

"Obsidian Execution!"

A sigil flared to life beneath the monsters. After a brief delay, a gigantic blade burst upward from the ground, impaling and killing them all in an instant.

She released her weapon, which vanished into swirling darkness. Without a word, Cynthia continued walking toward the dozens of monsters ahead, now trembling, as the dark aura around her grew even more intense.
