Chapter 18: One Long Day
Veins of green snaked through the visible parts of Damion's limbs and torso. He didn't know what was happening in his body, but he loved it.
He hadn't fallen to the ground because of pain, but because of the euphoric sensation he was having at that moment. He unintentionally let out a loud moan, and blood began to flow to a certain part of his body.
Just as fast as he had the feeling, though, it disappeared like a wisp of smoke.
Damion found himself in an awkward situation, lying on the ground and sweating hard, with a large bulge in his pants.
He first of all sat up and tried to calm his little guy down, before focusing on the surrounding area.
The devastation from the fight was much, and he surely was lucky to have survived. This was his first fight with a beast, and though his life was risked some times, he felt the thrill.
He had also progressed in the use of his skills, acquainting himself with the new and unique ways he could make use of them.
Damion's eyes shifted from the surroundings to the screen in his face, and he began to read.

Damion's eyes went as wide as saucers, and a grin spread from ear to ear on his face. He re-read the notifications to be sure of what he was seeing, before proceeding to his status.

Dragon's Authority leveled up again, making it one of his strongest skills now. It was previously a skill that he didn't really feel was very useful, until now that is.
He only used it to magnify his aura and intimidate his opponent but had never seen its true strength.
He tried to activate it, like he did a few minutes ago, and move a root by his side. However, nothing of such happened.
There was no reaction from the root even as he felt Dragon's Authority clearly touching everything in the surrounding 15 meters.
He tried again and again, but there was still no reaction. Seemingly pissed, he tried to force the skill to work like he wanted it to, yet, he only looked to be wasting more of his time.
Damion gave up and stared back at the screen. "Essence absorbed," He voiced out.
"If this is how I get stronger, then I need to kill more beasts and absorb their core's essence," Damion declared. He had already set his heart on getting as strong as possible, and seeing a way, he wasn't going to reject it.
He didn't bother himself much with the substantial increase in his stats, Blessing of Knowledge had made him feel like it was something he was supposed to know, so he wasn't too excited.
What had truly made him happy was that he had obtained the core of the Green Rose Poison Heart even as he had devoured its essence.
Damion sighed and rose to his feets. He shot the dead humanoid a stare, sizing its dried up body.
When he took out its core, its body shrivelled up like a raisin and scrunched up.
This was a natural phenomenon that had been taught by the Survival Class teacher. They called it Life Deterioration
This was a situation where the core of a beast was taken out of their body and connection was cut off from it.
Most beasts died after this, but there were some beasts that could survive without their core, as long as it wasn't destroyed. This was the situation of the Green Rose Poison Heart. It was still alive and kicking, but as soon as damion absorbed the essence, it lost its life, and Life Deterioration occurred.
Damion moved close to it and kicked the body. He saw it crumble into dust particles, blowing away with the wind.
He looked around one more time, taking in the beauty of the butterfly effect. He watched as all the plants in the greenhouse were slowly turning into dust particles too, blowing away with the wind. It seemed like all the plants here were never separate, but were one whole organism in the first place.
Damion looked up as the sky slowly turned dark, and with careful steps, he walked out of the greenhouse.
A lot had happened in just one day. He had gone from a weak lad to a fairly strong person who could defend himself.
The System was like a gift sent to him at the toughest time of his life. He didn't know who this Dragon God was, but he was going to repay him.
He slowly walked across the academy grounds as the sky turned darker.
Today was a very long and hectic one, he had never been this stressed, excited and tired at the same time, but today, he was.
He walked into his room, Dragon's Authority activated, proclaiming his superior presence.
He caught sight of Toby sitting on his bed and staring daggers at him, but as soon as their eyes met, Dragon's Authority magnifying his aura and making his eyes have a faint purple glow, Toby cowered, shrinking to the other side and hiding his face between his knees.
Damion scoffed. "Weak," he said, as he prepared to take a shower and go to bed.
A few minutes later, he fell on his bed, exhausted, his thoughts beginning to shift from one subject to another. He thought about Hakuro and their meeting that would occur in a few hours.
He thought about Kenzo, how annoying he was and his challenge was. How he had shown up to help in the name of 'not wanting him to die.'
He thought about his twin sister, Matilda. The beautiful young lady who had become his Drakaina, and had also helped him commission a weapon in the Blacksmithing Hall.
He thought about Toby, how he had attacked him twice in one day, but failed miserably. Thinking about Toby though, he remembered his bullies and smiled.
Damion thought about the system, the thing that had contributed the most to his growth.
He thought about so many things until his thoughts began to waver. He began to drift off, the attractiveness of sleep luring him into its warm embrace.
Soon, he dozed off completely, falling into a deep slumber, one he hadn't had in a very long time.
