Draconic King of Shadows

Chapter 11: New Skills

Damion's face morphed from its blank look to one of pure shock, and he couldn't help but shift his gaze from the System to Matilda and her brother faraway.

If what he thought was actually happening, was happening, then a part of Matilda's stats had been added to his, explaining why his own stats had increased all of a sudden.

[Stat Share- Lvl 1]

[A Dragon and his mate are one. They have been subjected to a life of oneness by the Ancient Ones, and would forever be together.

Therefore, their Life, Strength, and Abilities would be forever merged.]

Damion ignored the cringy description of the skill and punched out, feeling the new strength in his arm.

He felt like he had just taken drugs, and endless strength was coursing through him. No doubt his battle prowess would have seen a significant boost too because of this, pushing his combat strength to another level.

His eyes roamed the System screen, and it landed on the second bond skill.

[Ability Sync- Lvl 1]

[A Dragon and his mate are one. They have been subjected to a life of oneness by the Ancient Ones and would forever be together.

Therefore, their Life, Strength, and Abilities would be forever merged.]

Damion was stumped when he saw the exact same thing. However, he ignored it again and thought about the things he could achieve with the second Bond Skill.

His Ability and Matilda's had merged somewhat, and his Shadow now had some properties of Matilda's Ability.

Immediately he casted Shadow Pulse, and his Shadow wrapped around his figure before blasting out omnidirectionally, and pushing everything close to him aside.

He caught sight of the new green tint his shadow had gained, and his eyes widened further.

"Shadow Pulse is level 2 now, making it stronger than before," Damion mused to himself.

"Matilda's Ability has a burning effect if I'm not mistaken, but I have a feeling it isn't related to fire," he voiced out.

He turned his attention back to his System screen again, staring at Matilda's profile.

"Just like I thought… Poison," he uttered, scrolling through the screen.

"Hmm…" his attention was caught by his own profile, and he unknowingly smiled again.

[Shadow Walk- Lvl 1]

[The Shadows are your slaves, and you are the master.

Walk through the realm of shadows and emerge at your destination.]

"Shadow Walk," he muttered. "A movement skill I see. I'll test it later"

After cross checking and seeing that there was nothing new to see again, he returned to the Quest tab and looked at the quest description one more time, before beginning to walk away.

A few minutes later…

'My HP recovers using my MP… Cool,' Damion thought as he walked across the academy grounds. 'That means I'd never have to visit the clinic again. That also means I can be as rash as I want and tank attacks, as long as they're not grave.'

Damion's mind wandered through several thoughts, and he soon ended up in his room.

Toby wasn't around, and he was thankful, because if he saw his face again, he might outright attack him.

Damion sat on the floor by his bed and began to contemplate his next actions.

"My next class is in ten minutes," he began. "But I don't think I need it. I'm not into forging, so why would I learn blacksmithing?"

"I need a weapon though. I can't keep running around and throwing fists like a retard."

"Nevertheless, the only way is to gain enough credits to buy a weapon from the blacksmiths. But… the last time I checked, those bastards are cockier than even a king,"

"They feel like they're doing the world a favour by making their half-assed weapons," Damion sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "I haven't even gotten there yet, but I'm already worked up."

"Still, I need a weapon. The Training Program is in two weeks and I need to secure a position."

Damion recollected the brief they were given a few weeks ago, talking about the program that would be run to create an elite squad for an assault on the Extraterrestrials.

They were all given a month and a few days to prepare, and Damion hadn't even bothered to fight for the limited positions. He was abilityless then and wouldn't make it far, but now that he had a fighting chance, time was almost up, and he needed to rush.

Time flew by, and Damion made the decision to leave for the Blacksmithing Class, whether it was beneficial to him or not, only when he got there would he tell. He couldn't just sit idle and wait for something to happen. He needed to get stronger and win a slot, and that wasn't the way.

Damion got up from his bed and walked into the bathroom. He stood before the mirror and stared at his reflection.

His short black hair fell on the sides, covering the top part of his face and his eyes partially, leaving his purple eyes to glow like two alexandrites.

His face that originally looked sunken, because of stress, was now full and healthy, though not chubby.

His torn clothes fit perfectly, and he even looked to be outgrowing them.

'Maybe I've gotten bigger from my awakening,' Damion thought. He washed his face and took off the clothing, throwing them away.

"I need an armor set too, preferably one that can self-repair. It'll be too costly to change my clothing after every fight," he voiced out.

After a while, Damion had taken his bath and put on a new set of clothing, for the second time that day. He approached the door and pushed it open, preparing to head out.

At that moment though, his senses rang like a church bell, and his Mana surged without him meaning to.

[Shadow Walk has been activated]

A second later he disappeared, and something large and extremely hard smashed the spot he stood on a second ago, destroying the flooring and throwing pieces of it around.
