Douluo V: Evolving the Ancient Dragon, Marrying to Become a God

Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Xiao Wu: "Su Bai, Your Food is Delicious"

"Ah Yin, this is for you." Su Bai, considering Ah Yin's delicate nature, handed her a small piece.

Ah Yin took a gentle bite and was instantly captivated by the flavor.

"Wow, this is delicious!"

Ah Yin showed a blissful smile.

"Haha, I'm glad you all like it." Su Bai picked up a piece of snake meat and started eating as well.

After finishing the snake meat, Ah Yin patted her stomach contentedly. "I'm so full."

Xiao Wu, still craving more, ran up to Su Bai and said, "Su Bai, is there any more?"

Seeing that all the meat from the giant python had been eaten by the four of them, Su Bai patted Xiao Wu's head and said, "Of course, I have something even better."

"Hmm? What is it?" Xiao Wu asked excitedly, bouncing with joy.

Even Bibi Dong leaned in with curiosity.

She and Ah Yin were both full.

Su Bai, however, felt a bit unsatisfied.

He brought out the monkey brains he had prepared earlier, skewered on red willow branches and marinated.

"What is that?" Bibi Dong asked with a look of disdain. "Eating brains?"

Su Bai laughed, "Yes, haven't you heard that eating certain parts benefits those parts of the body?"

Xiao Wu tilted her head, and soon drool was dripping from the corner of her mouth. "I want a big piece!"

"Alright!" Su Bai began roasting the brains.

This process took longer, and Su Bai carefully added various seasonings to the brains.

The aroma quickly spread.

The smell of roasted brains was far more appetizing than that of snake meat.

Even Ah Yin, who was already full, couldn't help but drool again.

"I think... I can eat more," Ah Yin said slowly, using her Blue Silver Grass to support herself as she approached Su Bai. "I want some."

Bibi Dong gave Ah Yin a thumbs-up. "Eating brains... I can't stomach it."

Su Bai laughed, "Really?"

When the brains were ready, Su Bai handed a large piece to Xiao Wu.

As Xiao Wu took a bite, juices dripped from her mouth.

"Wow, this is much better than snake meat," Xiao Wu exclaimed excitedly.

The aroma alone was enough to surpass the snake meat.

Su Bai then handed several skewers to Ah Yin.

Ah Yin initially wanted to choose the smallest piece, but under Xiao Wu's strong recommendation, she chose a larger one.

Immediately, she was glad she did.

The brains were incredibly delicious.

Su Bai picked up a skewer and ate it in front of Bibi Dong, making loud smacking sounds. "Hmm, definitely better than snake meat."

"There's just too little of it. We didn't even eat much, and this is all that's left."

Su Bai showed Bibi Dong the remaining portions.

"If you don't eat now, it'll be gone!" Su Bai teased, eating another skewer and showing a look of enjoyment.

Even Xiao Wu and Ah Yin, who had just finished their portions, came back for seconds.

Under this relentless onslaught, Bibi Dong couldn't help but swallow her saliva repeatedly.

"Ugh..."

"Mmm~ So delicious!"

Su Bai continued eating skewer after skewer.

"This is the last one," Su Bai said with a smile.

Bibi Dong couldn't hold back any longer and grabbed the last skewer from Su Bai's hand, stuffing it into her mouth.

Immediately, an explosion of flavor filled her mouth.

"How is it?" Su Bai asked with a smile.

"It's delicious, wow, how can it be this good!" Bibi Dong stammered, overwhelmed.

Now Bibi Dong regretted her earlier reluctance.

But there was no remedy for regret.

After finishing, Su Bai packed up the tent and the barbecue grill.

"Let's go, we need to move deeper into the forest today."

The other three nodded in agreement.

After all, they weren't there for leisure.

The four of them then ventured deeper into the Sunset Forest.

"Do you feel like something has been watching us?" Ah Yin asked, frowning as they walked.

She felt a sense of unease.

"Really?" Su Bai closed his eyes and sensed their surroundings.

"A bird?" Su Bai frowned. "I feel it too, maybe it's a bird."

"Would a bird's gaze make us uncomfortable?" Bibi Dong looked around.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, she stopped with a grim expression.

"What's wrong?" Su Bai turned to look at Bibi Dong.

Bibi Dong pointed to a tree beside her. "Haven't we passed this place before?"

Her words brought silence to the group.

Su Bai was puzzled. "No, I shouldn't be susceptible to illusions."

Bibi Dong was also confused. "Maybe I was mistaken."

She scratched a mark on the tree with her fingernail, leaving her soul power on it.

The group continued forward.

But soon, Bibi Dong stopped them again.

"It seems we've indeed fallen into a trap," Bibi Dong said, pointing to the same scratch mark on the tree. "We've unknowingly entered an illusion."

"An illusion..." Su Bai pondered.

"If that's the case, we'll just have to break the illusion."

Su Bai said, "I can't be affected by illusions, so it must be an environmental illusion tricking me."

"But this type of illusion is the easiest to break." Su Bai smiled and then wrapped his arms around Bibi Dong, Ah Yin, and Xiao Wu.

Embracing them, Su Bai took a deep breath of their scent.

"Su Bai, are you taking advantage of us?" Ah Yin teased. Su Bai casually patted her behind.

"Nonsense, I can take advantage of you anytime I want," Su Bai replied nonchalantly.

"Hey, where are you touching?" Bibi Dong suddenly exclaimed.

Su Bai chuckled, "It's an emergency, let me touch for a bit."

Since Su Bai put it that way, Bibi Dong couldn't argue further.

Su Bai then activated his soul bone's power.

Immediately, a whirlwind erupted around them.

The whirlwind tore at everything around them.

But Su Bai and the others were in the eye of the storm.

This was the only calm spot in the whirlwind.

To be safe, Su Bai summoned the Vast Sea Cosmic Shield from his forehead.

As the whirlwind grew stronger.

The illusionary trees around them began to distort.

Finally, a sound like shattering glass was heard.

Su Bai and his companions returned to the real Sunset Forest.

"Wow, Su Bai, look at all these birds!" Xiao Wu exclaimed, noticing the numerous bird soul beast corpses on the ground.

They had evidently been caught in the whirlwind.

However, upon closer inspection, all the bird soul beasts were identical.

"This is another tactic specifically targeting us," Su Bai said with some frustration. Ever since entering the Sunset Forest, trouble had been coming their way nonstop.
