Chapter 63: Summoned by Crown Prince Xue Qinghe

Shortly after, Yang Potian arrived at the deans' hall with Teacher Li. Inside were many notable figures, including Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, Ning Fengzhi, the Sect Master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Sword Douluo, Ning Rongrong, and the three deans of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy.

Entering the hall, Yang Potian greeted them respectfully: "Yang Potian of the Breaking Clan greets His Highness the Crown Prince, Sect Master Ning, Senior Sword Douluo, and the three deans."

Everyone returned his greeting with a nod and a smile, though Sword Douluo kept his eyes half-closed, seemingly indifferent to the proceedings. Crown Prince Xue Qinghe smiled warmly. "Yang Potian, we meet again. Please, take a seat. Here at Heaven Dou Academy, think of yourself as at home."

Yang Potian glanced at those present and took a seat. "Your Highness, may I ask the purpose of this meeting?"

Maintaining a serene expression, Xue Qinghe said, "I've heard that at the young age of twelve, you've already reached the 35th rank. That qualifies you for participation in the Soul Master Tournament in two years. May I ask why you're not interested in joining?"

Without hesitation, Yang Potian replied, "Your Highness, I've spent most of my time training within my clan and lack real combat experience. I believe I'm not yet ready to compete in two years' time. However, Your Highness can rest assured that in the next tournament, I'll lead Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team and aim to make you proud."

Xue Qinghe studied him with mild interest. "Yang Potian, you're being quite modest. For your age and skill, you're likely the most gifted in our empire. The requests you made to the three deans are granted. You'll have the freedom to assemble your own team for the tournament in seven years, with no interference from anyone."

"Thank you, Your Highness, for your understanding."

"Yang Potian, may I ask you another question?"

"Your Highness, please feel free to ask anything, and I'll answer to the best of my ability."

"Would you mind sharing some insights on your cultivation? To reach the 35th rank at twelve makes you the youngest Soul Elder on record. At your pace, you might even be the fastest to reach the Soul Ancestor level."

Yang Potian pretended to ponder before answering, "Your Highness, my training is straightforward. Every morning, I practice my spear techniques. I study in my clan's classroom in the morning and train with weighted running and mountain climbing in the afternoon, pushing myself to exhaustion before finishing with an herbal bath. I find that meditating at night yields the best results."

"That's really the way we train in the Breaking Clan—nothing too different from others."

Xue Qinghe seemed intrigued. "That simple, is it?"

"That's really all there is to it, Your Highness. I just put in consistent effort and rarely take a break. Nearly every day, I train and meditate."

Xue Qinghe nodded thoughtfully. "Not only are you talented, but your perseverance is remarkable. Truly, you're a prodigy in soul mastery."

"Thank you, Your Highness."

At this point, Ning Fengzhi joined the conversation. "Yang Potian, I am Ning Fengzhi, Sect Master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. This is my daughter, Ning Rongrong. From what you described, your training must be quite rigorous to progress so quickly. But given your innate soul power of eight, I'm surprised your advancement has been this fast."

Hearing this, Yang Potian couldn't help cursing internally: You old fox, Ning Fengzhi.

After a brief pause, Yang Potian answered, "Sect Master Ning, to be honest, I was born with great strength. Since awakening my martial spirit and acquiring my first soul ring, I've trained with weights every day, only removing them during herbal baths. Currently, I carry 130 kilograms."

Ning Fengzhi's expression changed slightly, as did those of Xue Qinghe and the three deans. They were all familiar with the harm excessive weights could do to a young body.

Ning Fengzhi spoke again, "Young as you are, you've shown impressive determination. With such perseverance, your future is surely bright. May I ask what drives you to train so hard?"

Yang Potian closed his eyes, then responded resolutely, "Sect Master Ning, I am a direct descendant of the Breaking Clan. My life's purpose is to revive and strengthen my clan and to bring honor to our name."

Ning Fengzhi smiled slightly. "With your talent and tenacity, I have no doubt you'll achieve that goal."

"Thank you, Sect Master Ning."

Turning to Xue Qinghe, Yang Potian inclined his head. "Your Highness, Sect Master Ning, if there's nothing further, may I take my leave?"

Just as he was about to exit, Sword Douluo opened his eyes. "Yang Potian, please wait a moment."

Yang Potian turned respectfully. "Senior Sword Douluo, is there something you'd like to instruct me on?"

Amidst the puzzled looks of Ning Fengzhi and Xue Qinghe, Sword Douluo continued, "Could I take a look at your martial spirit and soul rings?"

Yang Potian's expression shifted, but he complied, summoning his Broken Soul Spear. Two yellow and one purple ring appeared around him.

Sword Douluo examined the spear and its rings closely, then remarked, "Your Broken Soul Spear is impressive. Can you tell me the specific soul beasts and ages of each soul ring?"

Yang Potian's face darkened slightly but answered, "Senior Sword Douluo, my first ring is from a 500-year-old Strength Ant, the second from an 800-year-old Violet-Eyed Demon Tiger, and the third from a 2,000-year-old Golden Crocodile King."

Hearing this, Ning Fengzhi, Xue Qinghe, and the three deans were visibly shaken. As experts, they understood the immense difficulty involved in obtaining these rings, especially for someone so young.

Sword Douluo looked momentarily impressed. "Strength Ant, Violet-Eyed Demon Tiger, Golden Crocodile King—all high-quality, strength-type rings, and each surpassing the usual age limit for absorption. It's no wonder your Broken Soul Spear is so powerful. A shame it's not a sword."

With that, Sword Douluo closed his eyes again as if nothing had happened.

Yang Potian gave another respectful bow. "Thank you for your insight, Senior Sword Douluo. I will take my leave."

As he was about to go, Ning Fengzhi added, "Yang Potian, you're welcome to visit my Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect anytime. Our doors will always be open to you."

"Thank you, Sect Master Ning. I'll take my leave."

With that, Yang Potian exited the hall.
