Douluo: Soul-Breaking spear

Chapter 123: Chapter 123: The Sixth Soul Skill

Chapter 123: The Sixth Soul Skill

After hearing Yang Potian's words, not only did his grandfather Yang Wudi express doubts, but the others also seemed skeptical. They found it hard to believe that even Spirit Hall, with all its power, would resort to outright destruction of the great sects.

Yang Potian surveyed the room and then spoke again: "Grandfather, you were once the head elder of the outer sect of the Clear Sky Clan. Do you think, without Tang Hao's incident, Spirit Hall and the Clear Sky Clan would still have gone to war?"

Yang Wudi pondered this question for a while before responding slowly: "The tensions between the Clear Sky Clan and Spirit Hall were deeply rooted. In many ways, the two were on a collision course. Even if Tang Hao hadn't been involved, it might have only delayed the inevitable conflict."

Yang Potian pressed further: "And do you believe that the current strength of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect surpasses what the Clear Sky Clan once possessed?"

Yang Wudi shook his head. "While the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect has developed quickly in recent years, its overall power still pales compared to the Clear Sky Clan at its peak. Even with their growth, they have only two Titled Douluo."

Yang Potian continued: "If Spirit Hall was willing to attack the Clear Sky Clan back then, there's no reason they wouldn't do the same to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect now. And the current Supreme Pontiff, Bibi Dong, is far more ambitious and powerful than her predecessor. Her ambitions are boundless."

Yang Wudi looked at his grandson in shock. "Potian, is this why you've been urging the Yang Clan to stay low-key? Is it also why you want us to avoid direct conflicts with Spirit Hall?"

Yang Potian nodded. "That's part of the reason. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the Heaven Dou Empire are clearly trying to put someone else on the front lines. With our clan's strength just barely sufficient, they would rather push the four single-attribute clans to challenge Spirit Hall, hoping we'd serve as the spearhead, like the Clear Sky Clan did back then. They don't have our best interests at heart."

After considering his grandson's words for a long time, Yang Wudi finally said, "Potian, I've decided that your grandfather Niu Gao and I will attend the Spirit Master Tournament finals next year at Spirit Hall to accept Spirit Hall's formal recognition. At the very least, we'll keep things peaceful and avoid opposing them openly."

Hearing this, Yang Potian let out a sigh of relief. He'd worried his grandfather might stubbornly go head-to-head with Spirit Hall, bringing disaster upon the clan. If they ever sought vengeance, they'd at least need another ten years to prepare.

Later, Yang Potian returned to his room to organize his recent gains. The precious 80,000-year Golden Lion King's head spirit bone was left in his grandfather's care for safekeeping.

Though the head spirit bone was an exceptional piece, perhaps on par with some of the legacy spirit bones possessed by the Three Upper Sects, Yang Potian felt it was still somewhat lacking for him. With his second martial spirit, he aspired to a full set of 100,000-year spirit bones someday; anything less felt insufficient.

The Golden Lion King's 80,000-year spirit ring had raised his spirit power by three levels, bringing him to level 63—a moderate gain.

Absorbing the sixth ring had also altered his Break Soul Spear. The spear's shaft remained black, but the tip, previously silver, now glinted with a trace of gold, and seemed even sharper, likely due to the Golden Lion King's metal attribute. Yang Potian even speculated that, with two more metal-attribute rings, the spear could evolve into the ultimate metal element. However, high-grade soul beasts of this attribute were rare—perhaps only Bear Lord possessed it.

The Break Soul Spear's weight had also significantly increased, nearly doubling from 2,000 to around 4,000 pounds. Despite the added heft, he handled it with ease due to his strength boost. Yang Potian even felt that, in terms of raw power, he could now rival a Soul Douluo.

With this new spirit ring, he gained a remarkable soul skill named Golden Lion's Sky-Splitting Strike. During the attack, the spear emitted a golden glow as it pierced toward its target, mimicking the Golden Lion King's ferocious strike. This attack ignored defenses and emitted a lion's roar that nullified any buffs on the opponent, with the skill's effectiveness scaling with his spirit power.

Yang Potian had a hunch that this skill hinted at the path toward the ultimate metal attribute. If his Break Soul Spear did indeed evolve in that direction, this skill could eventually achieve absolute penetration—a terrifying prospect.

Furthermore, absorbing this spirit ring brought surprising additional gains. Both of his external spirit bones seemed to have evolved. His Tiger Eagle Wings now appeared to have exceeded the 50,000-year mark, offering significantly enhanced speed—likely fast enough to surpass most Soul Douluo, and possibly rivaling even some Titled Douluo. His Crocodile King Tail, meanwhile, had reached 30,000 years, becoming sharper and far tougher, nearly impervious to breakage.

Perhaps the most surprising transformation was within his martial spirit itself. Upon inner reflection, Yang Potian observed that the silver giant in his spiritual sea had grown larger, now adorned with faint golden lines. This hinted that absorbing two more spirit rings from high-level golden-type spirit beasts could potentially lead to an awakened golden martial spirit—a rare transformation.

After resting overnight at home, Yang Potian returned to Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, now constantly keeping concealing herbs on him to mask his spirit power. Even Titled Douluo wouldn't detect his exact level easily unless they specialized in spiritual techniques.

Back at the academy, he noticed that something was off among his teammates, who seemed distracted and unfocused. After some inquiries, Yang Potian learned of recent events that had shaken the team.

The first issue involved a conflict between Tai Long and Tang San. Tai Long, now at level 39 and nearing Soul Ancestor, had been defeated by Tang San, whose spirit power was lower. News of this loss had reached Tai Long's father, Tai Nuo, who came to the academy to confront Tang San, only to be humiliated by him. When that failed, Tai Nuo's own father, the clan elder, Titan, showed up. Attempting to discipline Tang San, Titan's suppression accidentally revealed Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer, prompting an emotional response from Titan, who swore loyalty to Tang San as his new master.

Such a melodramatic turn of events left the team unsettled, especially Tai Long, who was torn about following Titan's orders. Would his loyalty to Tang San affect the other teammates and their families? The single-attribute clan members now faced a dilemma about their future.

Yang Pingan and Yang Tianyue, however, remained indifferent. To them, Yang Potian was their true leader, and they would follow him without question. As for Tang San, they couldn't care less.

The second event involved Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo's visit to Tang San. After discussions about purchasing hidden weapons, they arranged for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to manufacture components that Tang San would assemble. The agreed price for each set was an impressive 10,000 gold coins, with Ning Fengzhi paying 5 million gold soul coins upfront for 500 sets. It seemed Ning Fengzhi might have learned of Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer, as he openly expressed support for Tang San.

The third development was that Yu Xiaogang had once again requested to lead Heaven Dou Academy's second team, hoping to bring Tang San's team over as well. While there had been no response from Crown Prince Xue Qinghe yet, Ning Fengzhi supported the idea. It was unclear what the cunning sect master's true intentions were.

Together, these three events had created disorder among the team. Members feared the second team might end up under Yu Xiaogang's unpredictable leadership.

Yang Potian snorted at the news. "That crafty Ning Fengzhi is up to something. Trying to insert Tang San and Yu Xiaogang into the second team, along with the single-attribute clans, he's practically binding us to the Clear Sky Clan and the Three Upper Sects."

If he allowed it, the team would become an entangled mess: single-attribute clan heirs mixed with disciples from both the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the Clear Sky Clan, with a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan member as their leader. No one would believe it had no connection to the Three Upper Sects.

Yet Ning Fengzhi had overlooked two crucial factors. Firstly, Yang Potian remained captain and could veto Yu Xiaogang's appointment if needed. If necessary, he could dissolve the arrangement entirely; the clan didn't lack for spirit bones now. Secondly, the real decision-makers on such matters were Emperor Xue Ye and Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. The latter's true identity would eventually shock everyone—perhaps even enough to send the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect into ruin.

As for the Strength Clan, Yang Potian had no interest in their allegiance. With or without them, the Yang Clan could step back and watch from the sidelines.

Should things escalate, the Yang Clan could always relocate to Seaside City. He doubted even the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would overstep their bounds there.

Unexpectedly, Sword Douluo had narrowly missed discovering Xiao Wu, who remained safely out of sight. Whether by coincidence or by design, Yang Potian wondered if Tang Hao had stationed himself at the academy to protect her. Yet Sword Douluo was likely to attend the Spirit Master Tournament. If he discovered Xiao Wu's true nature as a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast, then things would truly get interesting.
