Three years later.

After the conclusion of the Tianhai Alliance Grand Tournament, Class Zero of Donghai Academy fell into relative obscurity, undergoing grueling training under Wu Zhangkong. Having witnessed the vastness of the world, even Xie Xie—usually the laziest—did not complain. Everyone made tremendous progress.

Among them, Tang Wulin, who had the lowest soul power, reached level 28, while the others advanced by approximately ten levels.

Although Tang Wulin's soul power was lower and he did not follow Zhuo Shi to Shrek Academy, Zhuo Shi often taught him his secret techniques through the Soul Network. The difference was negligible.

In the Spirit Pagoda laboratory.

Under the white glow of soul-guided lights, Gu La stared intently at the data screen of the soul power monitor.

The vortex of soul power formed by his three pinnacle attributes slowly rotated within his body, like three ferocious beasts tearing at each other, suppressing his cultivation speed to an excruciatingly slow pace.

Even with the aid of concentrated Body Strengthening Elixir, his soul power only increased from level 37 to level 43 over three years—a breakthrough that would seem miraculous to others, but to him felt as sluggish as a snail climbing a towering mountain.

"Still too slow."

He tapped his fingers against the titanium alloy workstation, the numbers refracting off the metallic walls in an eerie blue light.

At this rate, it would take at least two more years to break through to the Soul King rank, at which point he could attempt to condense his first soul core. By then, his soul power quality would rival that of an ordinary Title Douluo—but that was far from sufficient.

Over the past three years, Gu La had attempted multiple times to return to his original timeline. However, the Silver Dragon King, being a god king, was exceptionally sensitive to temporal ripples. She had been lying in wait near the original timeline for a full eight months, leaving him no opportunity to act.

To avoid causing temporal chaos, he couldn't arbitrarily choose a time to return, especially not one several months away from the original timeline node.

In short, he was stuck here for now.

After repeated failed attempts, Gu La had no choice but to vent his frustrations by occasionally bullying Gu Yue under various pretenses. Beyond that, he focused on cultivating diligently, striving to gain the strength needed to confront the Silver Dragon King directly.

Fortunately, having fully integrated the essence of Celebi, he had become a unique kind of temporal divine beast with infinite lifespan, sparing him the worry of aging to death in this foreign timeline.

During his physical strengthening exercises, Gu La could simultaneously cultivate both soul power and spiritual force, leaving him ample free time.

He immersed himself in advancing his forging skills, reaching the sixth rank. The only obstacle to achieving soul refinement and becoming a rank seven Saint Craftsman was breaking through to the Soul King rank and allowing his soul power cultivation to catch up—an achievement that would naturally follow.

For his other three secondary professions, there were simply too many books to study. Even with the help of the clone soul skill born from the Ancient Gold Tree spirit, Gu La only managed to elevate his designer rank to six, while his manufacturing and repair skills remained at level five.

Originally, his fourth soul ring should have fused with the Aromatic Silk Beauty, but when Gu La asked it, it couldn't provide the clone soul skill he desired.

However, thanks to Gu La's diligent nurturing and the abundant resources he received as a core disciple, the Ancient Gold Tree spirit successfully ascended to a 99,000-year spirit, just one step away from reaching the 100,000-year threshold. It was now capable of producing the soul skill he wanted.

Fourth Soul Skill: Tree Avatar Clone

From its name, one might assume this was a simple clone skill.

In reality, the fourth soul skill still belonged to the temporal category, a hybrid product of the Ancient Gold Tree's power and the temporal energies accumulated during Gu La's repeated attempts to return to his original timeline.

Its effect allowed him to use plant-type soul beasts cultivated through his first and third soul skills as materials to summon distorted timelines' versions of himself, creating real external avatars.

These clones could be seen as alternate versions of Gu La. While they inherently possessed wood attributes, they could also gain additional properties based on the materials used and luck. They could awaken martial souls, grow stronger through cultivation, and share memories and insights with Gu La.

Gu La sacrificed the attack power of the soul skill to maximize its cloning effects, aiming to accelerate his learning and cultivation.

Once the Ancient Gold Tree spirit ascended to a 100,000-year spirit, the restriction requiring the clones to possess wood attributes would be lifted.

By then, no one would suspect that these individuals were actually Gu La's avatars.

Such a powerful soul skill naturally came with limitations. Each use required pure temporal energy, and despite exploring temporal turbulence multiple times, Gu La had only managed to create five avatars.

These avatars included the giant tree avatar shaped by spiritual energy during his battle with Gu Yue, as well as four avatars derived from soul beasts like the killer willow.

For now, Gu La didn't need them to fight—he simply wanted them to assist with reading and studying, saving him countless hours of effort. That alone justified the immense cost of forming this soul ring.

Unlike ordinary clones, these avatars carried the possibilities of twisted timelines. For example, the giant tree avatar was an amalgamation of countless plant species from a virtual forest. When manifested, it represented the awakening of an extremely pure pinnacle wood attribute, making it the closest avatar to Gu La's true self.

Once the soul spirit ascended and the avatars truly took form, their wooden bodies would transform into flesh and blood, potentially awakening their own martial souls while retaining powerful wood attributes.

After fourteen years of traversing time, equipped with a system and two god-level martial souls, Gu La finally grasped a sliver of non-human authority. Though the avatars weren't truly alive, creating them was undoubtedly the first step toward creating life.

Gu La's heart surged with emotion as he stood up and gazed toward the direction of Shrek City. "Golden Tree, I'm coming."

---

The silvery-white soul-guided train raced along the tracks, its air conditioning dispelling the oppressive heat of summer. Xie Xie sprawled limply across the dark green leather seat, his silver hair tousled by the wind pressure.

He glared mournfully at the backs of his companions seated ahead. Tang Wulin and Gu La had somehow swapped seats and were now huddled together with Xu Xiaoyan, poring over a map of Shrek City.

Xie Xie absentmindedly poked at the leather armrest, the friction emitting faint creaks. "You unrighteous bastards," he muttered softly, turning to meet Wu Zhangkong's icy blue gaze and swallowing the rest of his complaints.

"Teacher Wu."

Tang Wulin suddenly turned around, his grip on the metal handrail causing it to warm slightly.

The boy swallowed hard, his sweaty palms leaving dark marks on the leather surface. "Are the trials at Shrek Academy… really that difficult?"

His hand instinctively touched the storage soul device hanging from his chest, where a heavy gold soul coin card lay.

After three years of frugal living and the prize money from the Tianhai Youth Soul Master Tournament, he had finally saved enough to unlock the second seal. But yesterday, after scouring all the herbal medicine shops in Donghai City, he hadn't found even a trace of dragonblood vine. He could only hope to get lucky at the auction house in Shrek City.

He had already asked Zhuo Shi to keep an eye out, but whether he could successfully enroll in Shrek Academy still remained uncertain.

After all, this was Shrek Academy!

Tang Wulin felt uneasy.

The scenery outside the window blurred rapidly as sunlight danced through Gu Yue's silver hair. She suddenly let out a soft laugh.

"Some people always say never to give up, so why are you so nervous now?"

Her slender fingers twirled the ends of her hair, her deep purple eyes glancing sideways. Over the past three years, Gu Yue had adjusted her mindset. She could now regard Tang Wulin as a comrade, ensuring that Tang San's hidden consciousness wouldn't detect anything amiss.
