Chapter 47: A Fool’s Legacy

While Xiao Wu and Zhuqing walked beside Wu Lan, their gazes lingered coldly on the scene ahead. The bruised trio, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun, were being dragged by a dazed Flender, whose eyes remained fixed on Yu Xiaogang.

The man he once respected.

The man who had once traveled beside him, always spouting theories, always offering advice, always smiling like he held the answers to the world.

But now?

Flender looked down at the students he once proudly called the monsters. Oscar was still twitching from the pain. Fatty's eyes were barely open, his face a puffy, distorted mess. Dai Mubai, once the proud White Tiger of the academy, now looked like a beaten animal. His nose was crooked, his lips split and swollen, blood crusting at the edges.

Then Flender's eyes returned to Yu Xiaogang.

He was walking beside Tang San, chin high, chest puffed out, speaking proudly, as if today's humiliation was a victory to savor.

This... is Xiaogang?

So petty... so arrogant... so proud of trampling the students I trusted him with?

Was I wrong about him all along?

Does time really change people this much... or was I simply too blind to see?

If Wu Lan had heard those thoughts, he would've burst out laughing right there.

Yu Xiaogang? Helping others? What a joke.

That scumbag has always been a petty, narrow-minded parasite. You just refused to open your eyes.

Meanwhile, Yu Xiaogang walked beside Tang San, completely unaware of the gazes behind him, or the bitter thoughts aimed his way.

His voice was loud, tinged with smugness.

"Tang San," Yu Xiaogang declared with overwhelming self-importance, "your growth proves my theory. My training plan is finally bearing fruit. From now on, your spirit rings must be selected based on my judgment. Your Blue Silver Grass will become a peerless existence under my guidance."

He leaned closer to Tang San, lowering his voice to a proud whisper, like a master passing down a sacred technique.

"And make sure to absorb all the medicine I added to the bath. It will help stabilize your foundation and enhance your potential. The formula is my personal creation, after all."

Every word he spoke dripped with ownership, as if Tang San's body, soul, and destiny all belonged to him.

Wu Lan, observing silently from the side, narrowed his eyes.

Tang San... you clever snake.

He saw through it immediately. Tang San had given every ounce of credit for his progress to Yu Xiaogang from his combat strength, to the Martial Spirit transformation, to his skyrocketing soul power.

And that trash actually believed it.

Swallowed it whole, and wore it like a crown.

Even ignoring the Martial Spirit upgrade... what about the absurd leap in strength and soul power? Does this washed-up clown even think before opening his mouth?

I give up.

Tang San bowed slightly, his expression the image of humility.

"Thank you, teacher, for your care. I will never forget your kindness. One day, I will repay you."

Wu Lan felt the corners of his mouth twitch.

Repay?

You just betrayed him yesterday, feeding him lies about your breakthrough and omitting every real cause behind your rise in power.

And now you're putting on the loyal disciple act?

Just a day later, and you've already forgotten it.

Unbelievable.

Hypocritical bastard.

Yet Yu Xiaogang, blind and pleased, nodded like a king rewarding his heir.

"Good. Your Martial Spirit is already evolving exactly as I predicted. Just as my theory stated."

Wu Lan blinked, stunned for a moment. Then a slow, cold smirk crept across his face.

What theory?

When did you theorize anything?

You didn't even notice Tang San's Martial Spirit change until I shoved the truth in your face. And now you're standing here claiming that it evolved because of your theory?

I acknowledge this shamelessness of yours.

Of all the frauds and hypocrites I've seen in my life, none surpass you in self-delusion.

I, Wu Lan, declare that you are the most shameless of them all!

Meanwhile, Yu Xiaogang continued rambling, his voice trembling with excitement.

"I must begin recording these changes immediately. This... this is the proof I've waited for all my life."

He clenched his fists, his entire body was shaking with excitement.

"A theory to evolve Martial Spirits... a system to reshape the future of cultivation... This will shake the entire continent!"

Hearing this, Tang San's smile stiffened slightly. A thin sheen of sweat appeared on his forehead. His eyes darted to the side, just for a moment, before returning to their usual expression.

But Yu Xiaogang didn't notice.

He was too far gone in his fantasy.

Wu Lan, however, saw everything.

He couldn't help but laugh inside.

Tang San's expression... priceless.

If Yu Xiaogang ever discovers how deeply he's been deceived by his own disciple... I wonder what kind of face he'll make.

He shook his head slowly, chuckling inwardly.

Tang San... I've wronged you, brother. In your entire life, fooling Yu Xiaogang might be the one good deed you've actually done.

That parasite ruined countless lives with his delusions, but now... he's finally the one being played.

"My name... Yu Xiaogang..." the man whispered, voice cracking with emotion, "will be remembered forever. The man who revolutionized spirit theory. The one who proved even the weakest spirits could evolve."

His chest swelled with pride. "This is it. My legacy."

Standing just a few steps away, Wu Lan had to restrain himself from clapping.

Outwardly, his expression remained calm.

But inside?

He was screaming.

Bravo.

Please, dig deeper, Yu Xiaogang.

You're already halfway into your grave. Now be a good fool and finish digging it yourself.
