Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Starting with the Hairstyle
Ah Yin looked at Ye Wen with a somewhat puzzled expression.
At this moment, Ah Yin still adhered to the rules among soul beasts. It was clear that Ye Wen was the boss of the dormitory, and she had no intention of challenging his authority. Therefore, she obediently followed him outside.
As they walked, Ye Wen began casually prying for information, asking how Ah Yin had come to study here.
Unaware of the dangers of human nature, Ah Yin straightforwardly recounted how she had awakened her martial soul in the orphanage and secured a work-study position. This resolved one of Ye Wen's lingering questions.
So this was how soul beasts could take human form and enroll in school. It seemed that sometimes, good people really outnumbered the bad—unlike in his previous life, where a cute girl like Ah Yin would have been abducted and sold long ago.
Though it seemed there were still plenty of human traffickers in the Tian Dou Empire, given the existence of slave auctions.
One could only say Ah Yin's luck was truly remarkable.
Whether some unknown god of slaughter was secretly orchestrating things remained unclear. But now that she was before him, her tragic future would undoubtedly change.
Notting Academy wasn't particularly large. The two found a relatively secluded spot, and Ye Wen began speaking:
"Ah Yin, listen carefully. Since school hasn't started yet, you haven't seen just how disgusting those noble students can be.
Some of them specifically target pretty girls like you. I didn't want to say this in the dormitory earlier, but I hope you'll change your hairstyle to make yourself less conspicuous. After all, I've never seen anyone as beautiful as you in my life.
Otherwise, the noble sons will constantly harass you. I've heard that many attractive work-study students have been abducted and forced into becoming concubines. You need to be more careful."
The pure-hearted Ah Yin, after being subjected to Ye Wen's PUA, didn't fully understand what being a concubine entailed, but she clearly knew what abduction meant. Her face turned pale.
Clutching Ye Wen's sleeve, she pleaded pitifully, "Boss, help me!" (T﹏T) Ah Yin.
━Σ()━> So adorable.
Ye Wen inwardly reminded himself that he was doing this to alter Ah Yin's tragic fate—not because he was after her young, loli-like appearance.
Ahem, ahem.
Ye Wen feigned seriousness, clearing his throat twice before speaking earnestly:
"First, change your hairstyle. Don't expose your entire face. Also, when studying, try to stay close to the people in our dormitory. There's safety in numbers, and even those noble students won't dare to mess with us easily."
After glancing at Ah Yin's currently underdeveloped figure, he added:
"Do you mind cutting your hair shorter, Ah Yin?"
Ah Yin glanced at her waist-length hair and shook her head nonchalantly.
She wasn't a girl who had grown up as a human, after all. Hair was often considered a girl's second life, and Ye Wen had seen countless girls in his past life break down after having their meticulously cared-for long hair cut off.
With permission granted, Ye Wen immediately got to work. A simple haircut was something he could handle on his own.
With a swift motion, he severed Ah Yin's ponytail, leaving her with shoulder-length hair that covered her neck.
Instinctively stroking the soft strands of cut hair, Ye Wen discreetly tucked them away. These would be precious mementos for the future.
Looking at the result, Ye Wen still wasn't satisfied. He grabbed a slightly heated iron rod and styled Ah Yin's hair into curls.
Watching Ye Wen's meticulous work, Ah Yin was filled with curiosity. She never imagined that hairstyles in human society could involve so many intricacies. After a few more trims from Ye Wen, the once elegant Ah Yin transformed into a tomboy with bangs covering her eyes.
Since the work-study students' uniforms were generally tattered and indistinguishable between genders, and the academy's cloaks did little to enhance appearances, Ah Yin now looked completely androgynous.
Satisfied with the transformation, Ye Wen nodded approvingly. Though he wasn't a professional, the results were quite impressive.
Because of this incident, Ah Yin grew even closer to Ye Wen. A boss who genuinely cared for her well-being naturally inspired feelings of attachment.
As days passed, under Ye Wen's effective leadership, Dormitory Three became a significant force within Notting Academy. When groups of students marched together in an orderly fashion, most noble students avoided provoking them.
During this time of learning new knowledge, Ye Wen also began secretly teaching Ah Yin some basic yet crucial facts about the continent—information that ordinary work-study students wouldn't know.
Sometimes, knowledge was monopolized in such ways.
What might seem mundane to some could take others a lifetime to grasp.
In the original story, Xiao Wu's carefree personality made her unpopular. Later, she wandered recklessly with Tang San, unaware of the distribution of top-tier powers on the Douluo Continent. As a soul beast, she ended up sacrificing herself for Tang San.
Xiao Wu later earned the nickname "Tool Rabbit," existing solely to give Tang San advantages. Not only did she sacrifice herself, but her two younger brothers did as well, becoming part of Tang San's cultivation. Though they eventually ascended to godhood, this female lead was far from likable.
Didn't she transform into human form to cultivate better and seek revenge? Yet after entering the academy, she caused trouble everywhere and slacked off in her cultivation. Even Tang San, who didn't possess full innate soul power, managed to match her level.
Unaware of the significance of Ye Wen's selfless teachings, Ah Yin innocently accepted his guidance.
"Ah Yin, do you know about the power structure of the Douluo Continent?"
"Uh?" The question caught Ah Yin off guard.
During her time as a soul beast, she had been rather apathetic. Becoming the Blue Silver Emperor was equally baffling, and she had only taken human form to survive the heavenly tribulation. Although Blue Silver Grass had a spiritual network connection, she hadn't paid much attention to human society.
"At the top of the Douluo Continent's hierarchy, among soul masters, there are three major forces: One Hall, Two Empires, and Three Clans. The 'Hall' refers to the Spirit Hall, the 'Two Empires' are the Tian Dou Empire and the Star Luo Empire, and the 'Three Clans' are the renowned upper three clans. These include the Clear Sky Sect (Hao Tian Sect), known for possessing the world's strongest weapon-type martial soul, the Heaven-Splitting Hammer; the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, known for the world's strongest beast-type martial soul; and the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect, known for the world's strongest auxiliary martial soul.
These top-tier forces each have at least one Title Douluo overseeing them, which is why they dominate the pinnacle of the Douluo Continent among hundreds of thousands of soul masters.
Below them are countless lesser forces. The most typical examples are the lower four clans, the four affiliated families of the Hao Tian Sect, and even the advanced soul master academies of the two empires. Each of these secondary forces has at least one Soul Douluo.
Therefore, we commoner soul masters must tread carefully and avoid wandering aimlessly, or we'll easily get into trouble." Finishing his explanation, Ye Wen cast a meaningful glance at Ah Yin.
Seeing Ah Yin visibly shocked by the harsh realities of human society, Ye Wen couldn't help but smirk inwardly. To win over a 100,000-year-old soul beast queen, scaring her a little was absolutely necessary.
