Lin Ye responded with a faint smile, his tone calm, as Hu Liena clung tightly to his chest.

Meanwhile, Tang Yuan, the little creature that had been perched on Hu Liena, scurried onto Lin Ye's shoulder, squeaking happily. It seemed just as relieved as Hu Liena to see Lin Ye return safely.

"It's good that the Holy Son is unharmed. If something had happened, I wouldn't know how to explain it to His Holiness the Pope," the supervising teacher said with a sigh of relief, his tension easing.

"Holy Son, what about the Evil Soul Master who was chasing you earlier? Did he escape?"

A Soul Master tasked with maintaining the blockade stepped forward, clasping his fists in respect as he addressed Lin Ye.

"He didn't escape. Here."

The Soul Master stared at the gruesome sight, his jaw dropping in disbelief.

This Evil Soul Master was supposed to be a Soul King! How could a mere Soul King end up dead—killed by the Holy Son, who was only at the Soul Elder level?

If someone had told him such a thing, he would have dismissed it as nonsense. But the evidence lay right before him, leaving him no choice but to accept the truth.

"Lin Ye… You killed him!"

Hu Liena finally released her grip on Lin Ye. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at the bloodied head on the ground.

"Yes."

Lin Ye nodded nonchalantly.

"I told you, he was no match for me. Though he was strong, I found an opening and seized the opportunity. The result is what you see now."

Hearing this, Yan's heart sank. Though he had already given up on Hu Liena, a small part of him still harbored hope. But now, even that faint glimmer was extinguished.

"Alright, I'll call you Liena."

"By the way, what happened to the Soul King who was chasing you earlier? Did you kill him, or did he escape?" Xie Yue suddenly asked, as if remembering something.

"He's dead."

Lin Ye once again retrieved the bundle, letting the Blood Infant's head roll onto the ground.

Xie Yue and Yan both exhaled in relief at the sight, though a hint of anger lingered in their expressions.

"Finally, this monster is dead. Who knows how many lives he would have claimed otherwise? Thankfully, you managed to hold him off long enough for the teacher to finish him off," Xie Yue said, his tone laced with lingering resentment.

"Wait! Xie Yue, this Evil Soul Master wasn't killed by us. The Holy Son killed him," the supervising teacher interjected with a wry smile.

"What?! Lin Ye killed him?"

Xie Yue's eyes widened in shock. He had assumed Lin Ye had merely escaped the Soul King, not defeated him outright. The thought of a Soul Elder killing a Soul King was almost too absurd to believe.

"Yes, Senior Xie Yue. With this Soul King-level Evil Soul Master as proof, we should have no trouble winning the year-end assessment championship," Lin Ye said with a faint smile, once again storing the severed head.

According to the rules of the assessment, while the number of Evil Soul Masters defeated by Soul Elders and Soul Ancestors was the primary criterion, there was a special provision. Killing an Evil Soul Master above their level granted additional points.

With over twenty Evil Soul Masters already defeated and this special bonus, victory seemed all but assured.

Still reeling from the revelation, Xie Yue could only nod dumbly in agreement.
