Douluo Dalu: Starting With Tom Cat

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Soul Ring Granting, Level Up!

After cleaning up, Shen An casually glanced at his system panel, only to find that his fame value had already risen to over 5000.

"That's strange... why is it increasing so fast?"

With over 5000 fame, Shen An was torn between whether to draw a prize or not. The thrill of unboxing was just so addictive.

[Ding!]

[After system detection, the host's soul power has reached level 10, allowing the granting of a soul ring. In order to assist the new host, the system is offering a limited-time promotion.]

[For 5000 [fame value], you can exchange for the first soul ring (limited to one-time only). Does the host agree?]

"Huh? This works too?" Shen An thought. He really enjoyed the thrill of unboxing, though.

Shen An's thoughts shifted to wondering: What's the difference between a system-granted soul ring and one obtained by himself?

[Ding!]

[The soul ring granted by the system will be the most suitable for the host, with the soul ring's years of duration depending on the host's maximum tolerance. The quality will be equal to a divine-grade soul ring.]

"Damn! With conditions this good, I might as well take it! Exchange!"

[Please prepare for receiving your soul ring!]

A seven-colored light suddenly enveloped Shen An's entire body. He felt an immense, pure, and boundless energy rushing towards him, flooding into his body in a chaotic rush.

The influx of energy didn't cause any pain; instead, it felt as though he was immersed in a warm ocean. The pure energy kept filling his foundation, and his soul power instantly broke through its original limits, continuing to rise.

The Nine-Leaf Sword Grass materialized on its own, the blade floating in the air, surrounded by a white halo. Gradually, it transformed into a bright yellow light.

But that wasn't its limit. In the bright yellow circle, a faint purple flickered, and the soul ring was formed!

At the same time, Shen An seemed to hear a crisp sound of shattering. The pure soul power flowed rapidly through his body, like a spring breeze, revitalizing every part of him with vigor.

Level 11, 12, 13, 14... he was just a hair's breadth away from reaching level 15.

Shen An opened his eyes again, a sharp gleam in them. This version upgrade was huge.

He had officially gone from being a soul practitioner to becoming a true soul master, his body now brimming with immense strength.

The comfortable feeling of being full of power was something Shen An had never experienced before. He felt incredibly confident, so much so that he even considered sparring with Zhu Zhuqing to test his new strength. In other words, he was getting a little cocky.

Shen An gripped the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass, an intense excitement flooding his heart.

He wanted to share his joy with Zhu Zhuqing, but the whole soul ring thing was just too unbelievable to tell anyone.

With a bit of regret, he looked at the wooden walls around him. "If only I were outside. With my current state, I could clear out all the weeds within a ten-mile radius."

Just as he was about to satisfy his sword-fighting fantasy by swinging his sword, a clear, cold voice interrupted.

"Come down for dinner!" It was Zhu Zhuqing's voice.

Shen An had no choice but to suppress the urge to unleash his excitement, retract his martial soul, and hurried downstairs.

On the dining table downstairs, there were already four dishes. Zhu Zhuqing had already sat down, while Tom, dressed in a tailcoat with a red bowtie, elegantly brought over a fish soup in his paws.

Tom carefully placed the fish soup in the middle of the table, then placed a delicate tray with three white candles on it. He also brought out a transparent vase with vibrant roses.

"Candlelit dinner, mission complete," Tom clapped his paws together, eagerly awaiting praise from Shen An.

Shen An stared at the four dishes and the soup, then glanced at Tom with a twitch of his mouth. "Tom, you're amazing. It looks really delicious."

He wasn't picky, since having food was good enough, and besides, a full fish banquet wasn't too bad either.

Shen An subtly glanced at Zhu Zhuqing to gauge her reaction. He didn't care, but he was worried she might not like it. However, he noticed that Zhu Zhuqing had already seated herself, holding a fork in one hand and chopsticks in the other. Her usual cold expression was replaced by eager anticipation.

"Looks like Zhu Zhuqing is happy—she's a fish lover." Shen An thought to himself.

He sat between Tom and Zhu Zhuqing, the seat Tom had specifically saved for him.

"Alright, let's dig in! Don't be shy."

Shen An scooped some fish soup into his bowl with a large spoon. The milky white broth looked almost like a piece of art, so beautiful that it was hard to believe it was food.

He took a small spoonful, and as soon as it touched his lips, a burst of fresh and pure flavor exploded in his mouth.

"Wow! A fresh and pure taste spread across my taste buds."

It started on his tongue, then spread to the back of his throat and down to his stomach, giving him a satisfying and indulgent experience.

Zhu Zhuqing, who had always been composed, was now fully immersed in eating. She moved swiftly yet elegantly, constantly picking up food from the table, her face showing clear enjoyment.

Tom watched as the two devoured his meal, feeling both proud and a little disappointed. "These two didn't even notice the candlelight or roses; they were just focused on eating."

Tom shook his head. "Two people with no romantic sense. They deserve to stay single."

"Meow!" Tom suddenly shouted. "You two are eating too fast! Leave some for me!"

Hearing the shout, Shen An and Zhu Zhuqing both reached for the same piece of fish. They locked eyes for a moment before both letting go at the same time.

They then, in perfect unison, placed the pieces of fish into Tom's bowl, their chopsticks lightly clinking together, neither of them pulling away immediately.

Shen An continued eating with relish, enjoying the food so much he couldn't stop.

Unlike Shen An, Zhu Zhuqing was more aware of her surroundings. She looked at the pair of chopsticks, now slightly wet from both of their saliva, and pondered whether she should eat from them.

Seeing Shen An devour his food so happily, she thought to herself, "He doesn't care, so why am I being so picky?"

Before long, the dishes on the table were cleared, and Shen An, feeling full, lay back in his bed with a contented sigh.

Tom's stomach was also round and full. Shen An patted his stomach and said, "Tom, from now on, you're in charge of the food around here. I'll trust you with it."

"Meow~"

Zhu Zhuqing, on the other hand, gently wiped her mouth with a napkin. Though her stomach was slightly bulging, her clothes concealed the change due to her well-endowed chest.

She briefly considered how to make Tom hers, even if it already had an owner.

Zhu Zhuqing glanced at Shen An, a thoughtful expression crossing her face.

"By the way, Zhu Zhuqing, I got a soul ring. How about we spar later after some rest?"
