Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Don't Bother Me With Such Trivial Thing
Eastsea Academy operates with two semesters each year, each lasting five months with a one-month break.
Unknowingly, Xia Yi had already been at Eastsea Academy for five months.
During this time, Xia Yi felt like he had undergone a transformation. Not only had he become a Level 4 Forgemaster, but his soul power had also advanced to Level 15.
"Tomorrow's the start of the break. Do you have any plans?" Xia Yi turned to Wu Jin, who was still meditating.
"I'm heading to the Extreme North," Wu Jin replied, slowly opening his eyes.
"The Extreme North? What for?" Xia Yi asked curiously.
He had heard from Zi Ji about the state of the Extreme North. Ten thousand years ago, it had been a place of glory.
But since the strongest rulers of the Extreme North—the Ice and Snow Emperors—had left with the God of Emotions, Huo Yuhao, the region had fallen into decline.
Nowadays, the Extreme North was in worse condition than the Star Dou Forest. The few remaining soul beasts had retreated to its icy core.
If not for the harsh climate of the core, which discouraged humans, the Extreme North would have long been destroyed.
"I'm going there to train!" Wu Jin replied calmly, then turned to Xia Yi. "What about you?"
"I'll be heading to Shrek City," Xia Yi said seriously.
This trip was at Gu Yue's insistence. Tianfeng Douluo Leng Yaozhu had long been urging Gu Yue to take Xia Yi to the headquarters of the Spirit Pagoda.
Seizing the opportunity of this break, Xia Yi had decided to comply. Avoiding it would only make him appear guilty.
Early the next morning, before dawn, Tang Wulin stood at Eastsea Academy's gates, preparing to hail a cab to the bus station for a trip back to Aolai City.
Using his Purple Demon Eyes, he suddenly noticed Xia Yi and Gu Yue walking shoulder to shoulder out of the academy.
"Didn't Gu Yue say she was going to the Spirit Pagoda? Why is she with Xia Yi? Could Xia Yi have joined the Spirit Pagoda?" Tang Wulin clenched his fists.
Yesterday, when he had asked Gu Yue about her break plans, she had told him she was going to the Spirit Pagoda.
Watching Xia Yi and Gu Yue chatting and laughing, Tang Wulin couldn't suppress a growing sense of irritation.
As they walked closer, Tang Wulin quickly hid behind a pillar, focusing his Purple Demon Eyes to observe Xia Yi and Gu Yue.
At the gates, a black car pulled up. The door opened automatically, and Gu Yue and Xia Yi stepped inside before it closed again.
As their car started moving, Tang Wulin's cab arrived. Without hesitation, Tang Wulin climbed in and said, "Driver, follow that black car!"
"Not going to the station?" the driver asked, surprised.
"No, just follow that car!" Tang Wulin insisted.
"Got it!" The driver stepped on the gas, keeping close to the black car.
The driver's skills were excellent, maintaining a steady pursuit of Xia Yi and Gu Yue's car.
Tang Wulin's face grew darker as the car in front headed out of Tianhai City instead of toward the Spirit Pagoda.
"Gu Yue lied to me for Xia Yi!" Tang Wulin's voice trembled with anger.
What he didn't know was that Gu Yue hadn't lied to him. She was indeed heading to the Spirit Pagoda—but not the branch in Eastsea City. She was going to the main headquarters in Shrek City.
Inside the black car, Gu Yue said to the driver, Zi Ji, "Speed up and lose him."
She and Xia Yi had noticed Tang Wulin early on. Initially, they didn't mind, but his persistent pursuit had become annoying.
"Couldn't do it in the city, but now, we'll lose him in no time," Zi Ji said, stepping on the gas. The car surged forward, quickly leaving Tang Wulin's cab far behind.
In Tang Wulin's cab, the driver floored the gas pedal but couldn't keep up. The disparity in the cars' performance was too great, making pursuit impossible despite his skills.
As Tang Wulin's car vanished in the rearview mirror, Gu Yue turned to the woman sitting in the backseat, her voice cold. "How did you find us?"
Xia Yi didn't recognize the woman, but he could sense the strong aura of a savage beast radiating from her.
She had deliberately revealed her aura as a gesture of goodwill. Otherwise, Di Tian wouldn't have allowed her onboard.
The woman appeared to be in her thirties, stunningly beautiful, with a tall and elegant figure.
Her long, deep-blue hair cascaded down her back, her fair skin glowing with a faint blue light, as if she had just emerged from the ocean.
Her deep-blue eyes seemed to hold the entire sea's depths, and a mere glance felt as if one's soul could be swallowed whole.
She wore a tight-fitting outfit of deep-blue leather, accentuating her flawless figure.
Despite her allure, her strength ensured no one dared to entertain inappropriate thoughts.
In addition to Zi Ji, Bi Ji and Di Tian sat beside her, ready to act if she threatened Gu Yue.
"Was it so hard to find you?" the woman said with a faint smile. "Why don't you introduce yourself? The only ones worthy of such protection by the Beast God are either the Emperor Auspicious Beast or that slumbering mother dragon. But you're clearly neither."
Her tone was curious as she scrutinized Gu Yue. "So, who are you, really?"
Tension filled the air, and Xia Yi instinctively moved to the side, not wanting to be caught in a potential fight.
The woman suddenly smiled. "Alright, I misspoke. Let me correct myself: She is our Lord."
Her smile vanished when Gu Yue's gaze grew icy. "If you have no business here, get lost," Gu Yue said coldly. "And if you dare speak out of turn again, don't blame me for being rude."
"I'm just really curious about what exactly you're trying to do here. It's one thing to report me, but now you're trying to frame me. Don't you think you owe me an explanation for this?" the woman said coldly. She was none other than the leader of the Holy Spirit Cult, the Deep Sea Demon Whale Emperor, possessing a demigod-level cultivation.
"Wasn't it your people who made the first move against mine? I haven't even asked you to explain that yet," Gu Yue retorted coldly.
The Demon Whale Emperor glanced at Xia Yi and said indifferently, "Previously, I didn't know he was from the Star Dou Forest. Otherwise, I wouldn't have sent just a Heavenly King for you to toy with."
"I'm not here to listen to your excuses. Tell me, what do you want from us?" Gu Yue asked coldly.
"I'm here to propose a collaboration, of course." The Demon Whale Emperor's expression turned serious as she said, "I may not know your exact goals, but one thing is clear: whether it's you or me, if we don't fall to humanity, our ultimate opponent will be the Sea God. That's why I want to join forces with you to destroy the Sea God's faith on the Douluo Continent."
After a brief pause, she continued, "I believe with Di Tian's abilities, you must have sensed it already—the God Realm has disappeared. But the Sea God is still alive. If we can extinguish his faith on the Douluo Continent and sever his connection to it, it will make his return infinitely more difficult."
Hearing that the Demon Whale Emperor was getting down to business, Gu Yue's expression softened slightly. She said, "That's easier said than done."
"Of course, I know it's not simple. But the Holy Spirit Cult has been preparing for centuries. It's not like we have no chance at all," the Demon Whale Emperor said solemnly.
"Alright then, let's hear your plan," Gu Yue said.
"We've already established cooperation with certain high-ranking officials in the Federation government and the Spirit Pagoda. We're planning to destroy Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect. Additionally, I'll find opportunities to wipe out those races in the ocean that are absolutely loyal to the Sea God," the Demon Whale Emperor stated firmly.
"If you've planned everything out, why involve us?" Gu Yue asked coldly. It was clear that the Demon Whale Emperor's plan didn't necessarily require the participation of the Star Dou Forest.
The Demon Whale Emperor remained unfazed by Gu Yue's hostile attitude. She had been deliberately testing the patience of Gu Yue and Di Tian all along.
The more patient they were, the more it proved that Gu Yue and Di Tian were eager to collaborate with her.
If a collaboration with the Star Dou Forest could be established, it would be immensely beneficial for her revenge.
That's exactly what she wanted. As for Gu Yue's attitude, it didn't bother her in the slightest.
"The Tang Sect, Shrek Academy, and some oceanic races are indeed the most loyal followers of the Sea God. But aside from them, there are also countless ordinary spirit masters and commoners who believe in the Sea God. Their sheer numbers are the real source of the Sea God's power. So, we need a way to destroy the Sea God's image in their hearts. Only then can we truly sever the Sea God's power of faith. While it's challenging, it's not particularly dangerous since the target is ordinary people. Leaving this task to you shouldn't be too much, right? Do you have any ideas?" The Demon Whale Emperor's beautiful eyes fixed on Gu Yue and Di Tian. She wasn't doubting their determination but rather their capability.
She trusted that Di Tian was excellent in combat, but dealing with over 80% of the continent's population wasn't a problem that could be solved through fighting alone.
The question she posed to Gu Yue was one she herself had pondered for a long time without finding a solution.
She had considered many schemes, including framing and slandering to ruin the Sea God's image among ordinary people. However, upon careful reflection, she found them all unworkable and had dismissed them entirely.
Since Gu Yue could command Di Tian, she decided to throw the problem to her and see what she could come up with.
As soon as the Demon Whale Emperor finished speaking, Di Tian and the other soul beasts fell into deep thought.
It was clear to them that she was testing them.
At their first meeting, they didn't want the Demon Whale Emperor to think they were incapable.
Gu Yue frowned slightly. It would've been better if she had more time to think, but being expected to come up with a solution on the spot felt like an intentional challenge.
However, admitting to the Demon Whale Emperor that she couldn't do it?
That was absolutely unacceptable.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up.
Just as Di Tian and the Demon Whale Emperor thought she had an idea, she directed her gaze toward Xia Yi and said to the Demon Whale Emperor with disdain, "Don't bother me with trivial matters like this in the future. Just deal with my subordinate."
She added, "If every little thing required me to step in, wouldn't I be exhausted?"
Having said that, Gu Yue closed her eyes and entered a meditative state, exuding an air of inscrutable confidence.
The sight left the Demon Whale Emperor momentarily stunned.
What she didn't know was that, if possible, Gu Yue would never have involved Xia Yi in this matter.
She had only recently decided to keep her distance from him.
If not for Leng Yaozhu's constant pestering, she wouldn't have brought Xia Yi along during this break.
Throwing the problem to Xia Yi and reaping the rewards while doing nothing herself would only make her gradually develop a dependency on him.
This was something Gu Yue couldn't accept.
She refused to become subordinate to anyone.
But right now, she had no choice.
If she didn't let Xia Yi handle it, she wouldn't be able to hold her ground in front of the Demon Whale Emperor in the future.
