Douluo: Becoming a God by Relying on my Enemies

Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Negotiations!

Yun Feng stood quietly, glancing over at Tang San, who was talking with Oscar in the distance.

"Little San, don't blame me for not giving you a chance. Heaven's treasures go to those destined for them. Right now, I am the destined one!"

Before long, the staff member from earlier returned to the registration area, accompanied by another individual.

"Apologies for keeping you waiting," the staff member said politely as he handed the team battle badge back to Yu Xiaogang.

The person he brought along caught Yu Xiaogang's attention—it was none other than Director Ao, the host who had officiated Shrek Academy's first group battle at the Great Spirit Arena of Suotuo City. Tang San had mentioned to Yu Xiaogang that Director Ao had kindly warned them about the formidable Crazy Battle Team, leaving a favorable impression on him.

Director Ao first glanced at Yun Feng, aware of his strength but unable to suppress his curiosity. Turning to Yu Xiaogang, he asked:

"Greetings, esteemed team leader. Is this gentleman one of Shrek's teachers?"

Yu Xiaogang raised his chin slightly, pride flickering in his eyes. "No, Director Ao. He is one of our students."

Director Ao clearly knew something, as he'd been instructed to keep a close eye on Yun Feng while refraining from harboring any ill intent. Seeing Yu Xiaogang's confident demeanor, he couldn't help but believe that Yun Feng must be his pupil, which only deepened his respect. Smiling courteously, he said:

"Esteemed team leader, may I have a moment of your time? I promise not to take too long."

Yu Xiaogang, basking in Director Ao's deference, felt completely at ease. Without hesitation, he prepared to follow the man. However, Yun Feng interjected just in time:

"Director Ao, may I ask whether you're here representing yourself or the Great Spirit Arena of Suotuo?"

Director Ao hurriedly replied, "Of course, I represent the Great Spirit Arena."

Yun Feng nodded knowingly. He had anticipated this. After all, the accomplishments of Ning Rongrong and the others over the past month were so exceptional that it was impossible not to attract attention. Particularly Tang San, who had achieved an unbroken winning streak throughout the month, was bound to be the center of focus.

Yu Xiaogang, realizing his momentary lapse, gathered himself. While he didn't enjoy dealing with the Great Spirit Arena, he couldn't ignore its immense influence. Backed by numerous factions, including the Spirit Hall, it wielded power that even nations treaded carefully around.

His complicated feelings toward the Spirit Hall—tinged with anger and regret—flared briefly but subsided. He nodded and followed Director Ao into a quiet room behind the registration area.

"Let me get straight to the point," Director Ao began solemnly. "On behalf of the Great Spirit Arena, I hope that Shrek Academy's team battle today can take place in the central main arena."

"Oh?" Yu Xiaogang's expression didn't waver as he replied calmly, "That doesn't seem to follow the rules. According to your regulations, only Spirit Masters at the Silver Spirit Fighter rank or above can compete in the main arena. Shrek's members are still at the Iron rank."

Director Ao offered a wry smile. "You don't need to be so modest. Given Shrek's performance this past month, after today's battle, your team will undoubtedly earn their Silver Spirit Fighter badges. Advancing the timeline by a day shouldn't be an issue, should it?"

Yu Xiaogang's expression remained stoic. "If that's the case, then waiting until tomorrow shouldn't matter to you either."

Director Ao sighed before speaking bluntly. "Very well, I'll be honest. Three days ago, a Spirit Master team arrived in Suotuo. Every member of their team is at the Silver Spirit Fighter rank, and they were invited here by certain noble families in the city."

He paused, his tone growing heavier. "Over the past few days, these nobles have been placing enormous bets on this team, and they've won every match without exception. Even with our resources, the Great Spirit Arena cannot sustain such losses."

Hearing this, Yun Feng, who had been quietly listening, raised an eyebrow. His martial spirit had recently reached a critical point of evolution, and he couldn't help but feel an itch to challenge these newcomers. Perhaps this could be an opportunity to strengthen himself or even forge a connection with someone like Dugu Yan.

Yu Xiaogang pondered for a moment before asking, "Is there anything else?"

Director Ao hesitated briefly before spilling the rest of the information. "You're familiar with the arena, so you should know that Spirit Masters at the Silver rank typically have a cultivation of over Level 40. However, the members of this team are all Spirit Elders, not Spirit Ancestors. We cannot bend the rules by pitting them against a team of Spirit Ancestors, but continuing to field weaker teams will only deepen our losses."

He sighed heavily before continuing. "The nobles, emboldened by their streak of victories, have increased their wagers yet again. If we lose this round…"

Yu Xiaogang opened his mouth to respond but was cut off by Yun Feng, who asked Director Ao directly, "Since they're Spirit Elders at the Silver rank, they must be exceptionally powerful. What level are the teams you've sent against them?"

Director Ao offered another bitter smile. "Unfortunately, the Great Spirit Arena lacks Spirit Elder teams at the Silver rank. We've been forced to send Copper-ranked Spirit Elder teams instead. One of those teams was the Crazy Battle Team, who recently advanced to the Copper rank and have previously faced Shrek."

"They were utterly crushed."

Yu Xiaogang frowned, speaking slowly. "The Crazy Battle Team isn't weak. Without our counter-strategy, defeating them wouldn't have been so easy. Were their spirit power levels higher?"

Yun Feng gave Yu Xiaogang a look that seemed to say, Are you serious? He stayed quiet, knowing this wasn't the time to voice his thoughts outright.

Director Ao, slightly puzzled by Yu Xiaogang's question, patiently clarified. "No, it wasn't a matter of spirit power levels. The gap lies in their martial spirits and spirit rings. Every member of that team has optimal spirit ring configurations, granting them a natural advantage. During their match against the Crazy Battle Team, they were dominant from start to finish."

Yu Xiaogang understood the implications of this. A team with optimal spirit ring configurations represented an elite upbringing, possibly backed by a prestigious family or academy. They weren't just strong—they were groomed for greatness.

Leaning back, Yu Xiaogang lifted his teacup, blowing on the steam with a deliberate air. "Director Ao, why do you believe Shrek can defeat this team? You must know that s

ome of our members haven't even reached the Spirit Elder level yet."
