Chapter 26: Chapter -26 Fighting spirit.
Chapter -26.
Mu Jin took a moment to look at Chen Feng and said, "Alright, everyone, let's get up and head over to the fighting spirit area! Today, we're switching things up to some hands-on combat. At Shrek Academy, we really value practical experience. Let's go have some fun!"
With that, Mu Jin turned and walked away.
Without a teacher around, the atmosphere became lively and carefree.
A few bold girls quickly surrounded Chen Feng, while the boys couldn't help but tease him. "Chen Feng, just you wait! Being a Soul Master doesn't make you untouchable!" one of them shouted, while another added, "You're just full of hot air!"
Chen Feng noticed the excited girls but skillfully slipped away from their grasp and made his way toward the fighting spirit area.
Seeing him head that way, the rest of the class followed along.
As they walked, the boys were fired up. "Guys, we need to show Chen Feng what's what!" one of them yelled. "Yeah, let's take him down a notch!" another chimed in.
Meanwhile, the girls were a bit worried about Chen Feng.
Nanmen Yooner, with her green hair, voiced her concern, "Do you think Chen Feng will be okay? He's going up against all those boys! Even a Soul Master can't handle that, right?"
Ning Tian, ever the optimist, replied, "Who knows? If Chen Feng is saying he can do it, he must have some confidence!"
Wu Feng, however, shook his head, not feeling too hopeful. As a Battle Soul Master, he knew the ins and outs of combat. "Listen, Ning Tian," he said, "a Soul Master can usually handle only three to five Great Soul Masters. And everyone here has strong martial souls. Even though most of us are Soul Masters, there are still over ten Great Soul Masters in our class. They could easily hold their own against regular Soul Masters."
Before long, the new students from Class Nine arrived at the fighting spirit area.
This area is super important at Shrek Academy, located in the northwest corner of the Martial Soul Department, not far from Shrek City.
It's usually closed during the day and is reserved for practical combat lessons for students, free of charge. It opens up for students after school until midnight.
To keep things safe, students need to register and pay a fee to use the space. Each participant in a match has to pay at least ten gold soul coins, while spectators need a ticket costing one silver soul coin.
If the participants are well-known, the academy even broadcasts the match through soul-guided loudspeakers in the dorms to draw in more viewers. The academy keeps half of the ticket sales, and the other half goes to the winner.
This area is a popular spot for senior students, not just for practice but also to earn some extra cash, all while feeling safe. There are teachers on hand to referee, ensuring everyone's protected and taken care of.
Winning a match here also earns students academic credits, which help with their grades during annual exams. After reaching the fourth grade, soul fighting credits become essential for moving up. For instance, to go from fourth to fifth grade, you need at least ten wins against opponents of the same grade. The requirements get tougher as you advance!
The fighting spirit area is hexagonal and about the same size as Shrek Square, with a big open space in the center for competitions. Surrounding it are tiered seats that can hold around three thousand spectators.
At this moment, the female students of Class Nine and a few boys, including Wu Yue, who weren't participating, were sitting together at the edge of the area.
The boys from Class Nine looked at Wu Yue and the others in the audience and couldn't help but call out, "If Chen Feng is so full of himself, why aren't you guys joining in? Don't you have any guts?"
Wu Yue and her friends exchanged glances, and Xiao Shan smiled, saying, "You all go ahead, good luck! We believe in you! We're not feeling well after eating something bad yesterday, so we'll sit this one out. With over forty of you, a few of us won't make a difference. If you win against Chen Feng, we'll treat you to a meal!"
The boys laughed and replied, "Alright, we'll hold you to that!"
With that, the boys from Class Nine confidently marched toward the arena. They figured that even if Chen Feng was a Soul Master, with their numbers and skills, they could easily take him down. Losing? That was just not on their radar.
Meanwhile, the girls of Class Nine were buzzing with excitement, chatting animatedly about Chen Feng's bold challenge against the whole class of boys.
Wu Yue watched the boys step onto the soul fighting stage with Chen Feng and couldn't help but chuckle.
She shook her head, a playful smile on her face. "They'll soon find out that Chen Feng isn't just talking big; he really means it."
Just then, a curious girl next to Wu Yue asked, "Hey!!! Do you really think our class leader can take on all those boys???"
All the girls turned to her, eager to hear the answer.
Wu Yue replied mysteriously, "You should be asking how long the boys can hold out against Chen Feng. You might not believe me, but just keep an eye on the fighting stage; you'll see just how strong this guy really is..."
"Then how strong is our class leader?"
"Come on, spill the beans!"
But no matter how much the girls pressed, Wu Yue and her friends stayed tight-lipped. They didn't want to admit that they had been taken down by Chen Feng with just a few moves.
Meanwhile, Chen Feng stood confidently on the fighting stage, holding a black broken soul knife, calmly watching as the boys from Class Nine organized themselves.
The boys were busy discussing their strategy on the stage, with defense-type, attack-type, and control-type soul masters lined up, along with support-type soul masters at the back, forming a basic formation.
Since it was their first time working together, this was about as good as it got for them.
To keep things safe, Mu Jin had brought in two referees, making three soul emperors in total to oversee the match.
One of the referees looked at the crowd on the fighting stage and exclaimed, "Teacher Mu Jin, what's going on? Is this a free-for-all? With so many students fighting at once, it'll be tough for just the three of us to manage!"
Mu Jin smiled and replied, "No worries! It's not a free-for-all; it's a one against many match. Our class leader, Chen Feng, is challenging the entire class of boys."
The two referees were left speechless! Σ(д|||)
