Ch. 17
Chapter 17: Idiot
The discussion ended, and everyone gradually left and returned to their rooms.
Too many things had happened in just one short morning; everyone needed time to properly digest it all.
Before leaving, they agreed to meet at the restaurant in half an hour.
After all, even if they felt nauseous psychologically, the hunger gnawing at their stomachs was undeniable.
The afternoon would be used to explore the manor.
Before leaving the room, Liuli suddenly stopped in her tracks, silently turned her head, and glanced at Lu Feng with a hint of hesitation in her eyes.
She lingered for a moment but ultimately said nothing, turning around and leaving.
After everyone was gone, Lu Feng’s body slackened, and he collapsed directly onto the sofa.
His eyes revealed a trace of weariness.
Liuli’s behavior just now had not escaped his notice, but he didn’t want to say anything.
Because whether or not Liuli was an Evil Spirit Follower, unless she willingly revealed her secret to him, Lu Feng would never truly trust her.
Too many terrifying and bizarre things had already happened in the short span of this morning, enough to overturn the worldview of any normal person.
Moreover, it seemed that unknowingly, he had become the central figure of this small group of theirs…
“How did it turn out like this…”
Lu Feng stared blankly out the window, but all he could see was the dim, gloomy sky.
Gradually, he felt a wave of drowsiness wash over him.
He closed his eyes, and within a few breaths, he drifted into sleep.
……
Yu Mo sat by the window, her gaze blank as she stared outside.
She was lost in her thoughts, so much so that she didn’t even notice when the door behind her was pushed open.
“Yu Mo.”
The person who entered the room called out.
Yu Mo turned around in surprise, only to see someone she did not particularly like.
She couldn’t help but frown.
“Liuli, what are you doing in my room?”
Liuli did not answer Yu Mo’s question.
Instead, she walked to her side and sat down on the sofa in the room.
After a moment of silence, Liuli looked at Yu Mo and said coldly,
“You like Lu Feng, don’t you?”
At this question, Yu Mo’s cheeks instantly flushed, but she quickly recovered.
Her eyes grew slightly strange as she looked at Liuli,
“And what does that have to do with you?”
“Nothing. I just want to give you a piece of advice—”
Liuli avoided Yu Mo’s gaze and cast her eyes out the window.
“If you want to survive this game, then stay away from Lu Feng.”
“What’s that supposed to mean, a threat?”
“No, just advice.”
Liuli’s voice was low.
……
Half an hour later, everyone gradually left their rooms to gather.
Lu Feng, in fact, was the last to arrive.
When the group reached the entrance of the restaurant on the second floor, they saw a golden sign at the door—Open All Day, Welcome to Dine.
With some hesitation, Lu Feng pushed the door open and found about a dozen classmates already eating inside.
The restaurant was decorated in a classic vintage European style, extraordinarily ornate.
It was more like a grand banquet hall than a restaurant.
The massive long table in the center was piled high with all sorts of exquisite dishes, dazzling enough to overwhelm the eye.
“T-this is way too much…”
Lin You looked utterly stunned.
“There aren’t even any chefs here. How can there be so many gourmet dishes…”
Zhang Tong was completely puzzled.
“Don’t ask. If you must ask—it’s our lives in exchange!”
Lin You had already rushed forward impatiently to eat.
Yet just half an hour ago, he was the one claiming he couldn’t eat a thing.
Even Lu Feng was shocked by the scene before him.
Clearly, this place could not be understood by common sense.
Just as he was about to join the meal, he suddenly heard Liuli’s voice at his ear,
“Yes, such a grand feast. Doesn’t it remind you of The Last Supper…”
Perplexed, Lu Feng turned back, only to see Liuli leaving the restaurant without another word.
Sigh, she was becoming harder and harder to understand… wasn’t she the one who first said she was hungry?
Lu Feng shook his head, then was pulled by Yu Mo toward the table laden with food.
……
Because Lu Feng’s group had arrived later, by the time they finished eating and drinking, everyone else had already left.
Lu Feng was the last to step out of the restaurant.
As he shut the door, he suddenly sensed something stirring inside.
He pushed the door open again in confusion, only to be stunned—the entire restaurant had returned to its original state.
The messy table littered with scraps was now spotless, and the empty plates had been refilled with steaming hot dishes.
Sure enough, this was not a place explainable by reason…
Lu Feng sighed inwardly.
When they came out of the restaurant, Liuli was waiting outside.
Just as they were discussing where to begin exploring the manor, a shout came from the third floor—
“Everyone, gather in the second-floor lounge in five minutes. There’s something very important we need to discuss!”
“Isn’t that Xiao Zhiquan? What’s he yelling about now?”
Lin You immediately recognized the voice, his face filled with disgust.
“Who knows. He just said he has something important to announce. But with that brain of his, what ‘important’ thing could he possibly think of?” Yu Mo said.
“So… should we go take a look?”
Zhang Tong cast his gaze at Lu Feng, waiting for his decision.
After thinking for a moment, Lu Feng nodded,
“Let’s go have a look. There’s no harm anyway.”
Thus, they temporarily set aside their plan to explore the manor and decided to see what medicine Xiao Zhiquan was selling in his gourd.
……
As Wu Fan’s former lackey, Xiao Zhiquan still carried a bit of leftover influence, so the classmates were willing to give him some face.
Out of the 36 still alive, 33 showed up.
The three who didn’t were Dong Ningning, her close friend who accompanied her, and a girl with very low presence in class—Bai Quye.
Xiao Zhiquan stood at the long table in the lounge, sweeping his gaze proudly over the crowd, somewhat smug about his ability to summon them.
Clearing his throat, he began,
“There’s only one reason I called everyone here—to prepare for the Evil Spirit that will appear tomorrow.”
At the words “Evil Spirit,” the color drained from everyone’s faces.
“Tomorrow, the Evil Spirit will begin attacking us. So, I have a proposal—”
He paused for a moment before continuing,
“We should all gather anything that can be used as weapons, then meet in the first-floor hall at midnight tonight. When the Evil Spirit shows up—”
He clenched his fist tightly, as if trying to crush something,
“We’ll all attack it together and destroy it on the spot!”
“Pfft—”
Just as his words fell, suppressed laughter suddenly echoed through the once-quiet lounge.
Xiao Zhiquan immediately glared over, spotting Lu Feng’s group struggling to hold back their laughter.
“What are you laughing at?”
“No, no…”
Lu Feng stood up, forcing back his smile, though his eyes held no trace of amusement as they met Xiao Zhiquan’s.
“I just want to ask you a few questions.”
“What questions?”
“Have you ever played Werewolf?”
“Yes, why?”
“Then do you know there’s a role card that, no matter how much nonsense it spouts, never gets voted out? Do you remember what that role is?”
“…What role?”
“Idiot.”
Lu Feng said coldly.
