Chapter 16: Chapter 016 Making Waves_1
The moment the White Snake appeared, Su He felt as if the whole world had exploded onto him. He was instantly knocked flying.
He abruptly woke up to find himself still in the small lake of Snake Valley, but the moonlight no longer enveloped it.
This was the Green Snake's legacy, and he had been expelled from it.
A dice quietly landed in front of Su He:
Five points!
What a pity, if he could have stayed in the Green Snake's legacy, Su He should have been able to learn the transmission five times faster...
Suddenly, Su He was stunned.
There was something extra in his mind: Creating waves!
The part of 'Wind and Wave Creation' that involved creating waves! He did not see the first part, which was about creating wind, but he saw the part about creating waves, and then he obtained this fragment of legacy.
Creating waves could control the water flow to whip up towering waves, of course, that was the ability of the White Snake. Having just received the legacy, he could only make a small splash, no bigger than what could be splashed up with a slap of water.
Right now, Su He could only—he lifted a paw, as if grasping a ribbon, and scooped up a stream of lake water.
No, this isn't Creating waves.
Creating waves could stir up mighty waves, but couldn't pick up water like a ribbon. This was... Water Control!
The White Snake's legacy of creating waves, influenced by the dice rolling five points, had transformed into a kind of Divine Skills akin to Water Control.
Divine Skills!
Not magic skills, but Divine Skills, as innate as eating and drinking. It was as though the ability was an inborn power of Su He.
There is a fundamental difference between magic skills and Divine Skills.
Magic skills are learned; Divine Skills are innate.
If we were to push the point, a person's eating, drinking, defecating, and urinating could all be Divine Skills, only too commonplace. But from another perspective, for plants, it's miraculous—the thing can actually eat!
Divine Skills!
Divine Skills are natural talents that can't be learned or taught.
One cannot possibly teach their Divine Skills to someone else, just like a bird cannot teach a cat how to fly.
Magic skills, on the other hand, can be taught.
The dice could not only enhance learning efficiency but also evolve grabbed inheritances.
The question is, how is this evolution multiple calculated?
Snatched prey could accurately enhance by five times, whether in quality or quantity, at the very least, they are real items. But how do you accurately calculate five times or the fifth power for magic skills?
Su He slowly sank to the bottom of the water, pondering quietly. Not until the full moon was setting and the moonlight on Green Snake's body gradually faded did it slowly regain consciousness with a confused look in its eyes.
Glancing at Su He, the Green Snake paid no attention; it had become accustomed to this over the past few days—this obnoxious turtle often loitered around here.
In these days, the eyes of the Green Snake had become more spirited. This was because the Demonic Fruit was nearly digested after nearly a hundred days, and its spirit wisdom was slowly awakening.
The Green Snake slithered down from the tree into the water, flicking its tail and teasing the water.
It wanted to create waves but failed to stir any up.
The Green Snake was not discouraged. The transmission of demon skills required gradual learning. After eating the Demonic Fruit for nearly three months, every full moon gave it one demon skill legacy. The previous two demon skills took more than a month of diligent cultivation to master. This Wind and Wave Creation was even more challenging.
Especially Creating waves, it always felt as if something was missing, making it difficult to grasp.
Perhaps because it's not a water snake?
The Jade Green Snake could swim but wasn't a water snake.
Su He lay submerged in the water, continually turning his turtle head to examine his body. The deeper he sunk into contemplation, the more he could feel the changes in his body, as if the ability to control water was merging into every inch of his skin.
Any water that came into contact with him fell under his control, and that included even the tip of his tail.
The combination of a turtle and the ability to "Control Water" was much more useful than merely creating waves.
He had seized an incredible legacy.
Su He poked the Green Snake to climb ashore and drew a Water Yuan Symbol on a rock with his claw.
Talisman Runes are the direct manifestation of the essence of all things in the world, to observe a rune is to understand the Dao. Having taken Green Snake's wave-making legacy and leaving behind a Water Yuan Symbol could be considered some sort of compensation.
If worse came to worst, he could always bring it some high-quality food before hibernating.
Su He dived back into the lake and pushed the water aside to return to Crocodile Beach.
Whether it was because he had just acquired Divine Skills or the influence of the skills themselves, Su He now preferred to stay underwater more than before. He manipulated the water currents to coil around him like a snake, as if his entire body wanted to merge with the lake.
In the past, he could only use the webbing between his claws to paddle through the water. Now, each stroke was empowered by Water Control Divine Skills, the water moving as if it had solidified, giving him the impression of pulling himself forward by grabbing onto ropes, his speed more than doubled.
This Divine Skill could likely be further practiced and developed; perhaps in time, he wouldn't even need to paddle, just ride a wave that carried him to travel across the seas.
When he returned to Crocodile Beach, the crocodiles had mostly finished their nightly hunt. After consuming a portion of the crocodile's tribute, Su He suppressed the excitement in his heart and forced himself to rest for a while.
He hadn't eaten food that increased his quality by five or six points recently, but accumulated in small amounts, his body had stored up a vast amount of energy. After accumulating for a while, he would be able to hibernate again.
His turtle shell showed signs of loosening and shedding again; his next evolution was approaching quickly. It would likely be a longer slumber, perhaps even merging with the winter hibernation.
The Demonic Fruit was almost completely digested as well.
The sun was well up, casting its warm rays over the lazy Crocodile Beach.
Just as Su He thought Yu Lin had overcome his fear of lecturing and would not return, two Immortal Swords arrived belatedly. Landing on the green stone, they transformed into two people.
Yu Lin and a young man who appeared to be around twenty years old.
He looked gentle but somehow was off-putting, and Su He felt a vague aversion towards him.
Instincts of the beast kind.
Yu Lin pointed at Su He and said, "Lu Shidi, this is the turtle I mentioned to you. Observe if it has consumed the Demonic Fruit. Is this an animal on the verge of transforming into a human?"
That Lu Shidi's eyes lit up when he saw Su He. "Truly majestic and extraordinary. Let me test it." He produced a small mirror from his robe; the Heavenly Secret Mirror, specially designed to detect the Demonic Fruit.
If any animal had consumed the Demonic Fruit, it would be revealed by the mirror.
There was no reaction from the Heavenly Secret Mirror—it couldn't detect the Red Fruit, just as the slovenly old Daoist had said.
Lu Shidi shook his head: "It's a pity. This is a Mystery Turtle on the verge of becoming an Exotic Beast, not one that has ingested the Demonic Fruit."
Yu Lin's clenched hand slowly relaxed, yet his face showed a hint of regret: "That's too bad."
If it wasn't going to transform, then no one would know about the humiliation from yesterday...
His gaze towards Su He softened again; you are still going to be my Chief.
Lu Shidi put away the Heavenly Secret Mirror and saluted Yu Lin: "Since it's not a Demonic Beast, I won't keep my elder brother from his lesson preparation. Please don't forget to inform me when you start teaching, brother. I'll go and support you!"
Lu Shidi knows I'm lecturing here! A flush came over Yu Lin's face as he saluted his junior brother and watched him fly away with his sword.
Yu Lin calmed down for a moment, suppressed his embarrassment, and began that day's lecture.
The previous day had only been a brief introduction to symbols, essentially the beginning. Today, he would start from the very basics and explicatively analyze each symbol one by one.
Although it was just a rehearsal, he treated it with utmost seriousness, as if he were truly addressing his juniors, not missing a single detail and even sternly handling a fight that broke out among the students.
Two crocodiles, for some reason, started fighting and were picked out by his pointed finger, hung upside down above the lake, as his little ruler smacked their backsides.
The lecture ended earlier that day, likely because of yesterday's practice; things were more relaxed today. As soon as the sunset began to glow in the west, Yu Lin concluded the day's lesson and left on his sword.
Night fell once more. A figure slowly emerged from behind the rocks on the shore.
It was Lu Shidi, who had left on his sword that morning. Now, frowning, he contemplated Su He's form and took several steps closer.
