Don't confiscate my identity as a human race

Chapter 883: Lanci's Sacrifice (Part 2)

"But, why don't we go find Duke Host?"

The Half-Witch gazed at the temple on the mountains at dusk.

She estimated that this was probably the place where the two-hour performance would conclude.

The two had just wandered to this Dusk Church with an attitude of giving up.

In the original work, this scene shouldn't exist.

"No, this is the end of our journey."

Lanci listened to the Half-Witch's improvised lines without surprise.

This was nowhere near Hyperion; it was completely a fusion of Talia and Hyperion.

"So listen to me..."

Lanci roughly figured out what emergency had caused Hyperion to turn into Talia.

But he couldn't blame Talia, because she came up to save them by improvising; the only thing she didn't know was the change in the script. If it hadn't been drastically altered, she would have performed fine.

"We don't have much time left, can you just listen to me from now on?"

Lanci decided to throw away the script too.

Only he could turn this performance into a masterpiece now.

"Eh?"

Talia looked at Lanci in surprise.

Not only had she never seen the Ent Mountains and Dusk Church scenes in the book, but she had also never read the Governor speaking such lines in the original work.

"Isn't our purpose on this journey to find the culprit who cursed you and solve the mystery?"

Talia could only follow the lines in the prompter, trying to ask him as best as she could.

"No need."

Lanci shook his head.

"But..."

The Half-Witch still wanted to play along with the scene.

"I assure you, there's not much time left. Can you just listen to me?"

Lanci moved closer forcefully, speaking to her from above.

The excessive closeness of his face and gaze made Talia instinctively retreat, leaning against the temple's pillar.

"You you..."

Talia's cheeks flushed. She remembered there shouldn't be any kissing scene, but if Lanci wanted to kiss her...

Wait, this was a fusion with Xiu Bao's body.

The more Talia thought about it, the stranger it felt.

If Lanci kissed her in this state, would he be kissing Xiu Bao or her?

"I'll comply with your wishes."

Talia didn't have time to think, she could only meekly say as much, turning her face sideways, not daring to meet Lanci's eyes.

"I'm certain Duke Host is not the mastermind who cursed us, do you know why?"

Lanci didn't continue to approach, he asked her.

"...Why?"

Talia looked at Lanci, her eyes filled with confusion.

This line shouldn't exist either.

But when she looked into Lanci's serious eyes that seemed to see through her soul, she was stunned.

It was a gaze of trust, hoping she would cooperate, just like every time they had to rely on each other in life and death situations, when he would always entrust his life to her.

Talia began to feel a bit panicked.

Lanci's firm attitude made her start to doubt herself.

Had she been using the wrong lines all along, while Lanci was covering for her the whole time?

"Why, please tell me quickly."

Talia no longer relied on the prompter.

Every line she spoke from now on would be in sync with Lanci.

Even if she had lost confidence now, with Lanci around, she trusted him to guide her soul.

The audience below the stage were already immersed in the performance.

They were both curious about the mystery about to be unveiled and thrilled by the love between the two that was finally bearing fruit.

The Half-Witch, who had been stubbornly defiant along the way, finally softened.

The Governor seemed prepared to face his own feelings.

"How do they manage to portray such a soul-entrusting feeling?"

"This doesn't feel like acting; they seem as though they've truly shared life and death experiences many times, whether in or out of the show, through different lifetimes, even with no memories, they resonate with each other."

"With this atmosphere and buildup, it has to be a happy ending, right? Couldn't possibly turn into a tragedy all of a sudden, could it? I'm a bit worried, some details in the earlier plot seemed off."

"No way, don't say that."

The audience whispered amongst themselves.

The Governor and the Half-Witch were like a journey, even if they couldn't awaken buried memories, they had bridged the gap in their hearts.

"I tell you, this has to be a comedy, it can't end in tragedy!"

Isatia said to the black-haired noblewoman beside her with a smile.

When they had just entered the opera house, and she heard Minel saying today's ending would be a tragedy, she was on edge for a long time, fearing the sweetness would turn into a blade at the end.

Now they were almost at the final scene, and yet it was still so joyful.

"It's really entertaining."

Minel also watched with a girlish smile,

"Could I have been mistaken?"

But as she shifted her focus away from the stage, she thought carefully, beginning to doubt her previous judgment.

If this truly was an all-happy comedy, then why did the trailer portray a poignant blend of sorrow and joy, climaxing in a tragedy?

The trailer's purpose should be to hint in advance, preparing the audience mentally, and help them immerse in the opera's atmosphere, aligning the audience's expectations and emotions with the actual performance; it's essentially a setup and preparation.

"You must have misinterpreted it."

Isatia said confidently to Minel.

Today is definitely a comedy.

She even patted Abigail beside her.

"Abigail, don't you agree?"

Isatia asked Abigail, feeling a sense of camaraderie.

"I also... don't know anymore."
