Novak!
That's Novak!
The face hidden under the dark green turtleneck was just two meters away from them! The group stood inside the window, while Novak remained outside at an impossible angle, clinging to the wall. Despite the strange positioning, they could clearly see his sharp features.
In the past, many had felt envious, even disdainful of that face. But now, standing before them, it seemed completely unfamiliar.
Novak didn't care about any of that. His focus was locked solely on the airborne tyrant. With precision, he shot forward, his feet smashing into the tyrant's descending body, directly hitting its face with tremendous force.
The plague boots dug into the tyrant's cheek, causing its momentum to freeze mid-air. In response, the tyrant desperately tried to lash out with its massive black claws, but a violent coughing fit weakened its strike.
Without mercy, Novak drove the tyrant from the air, both of them hurtling toward the ground from over ten stories high.
'BOOM!'
The impact was even louder than before. The shockwave from the crash sent nearby zombies flying once more.
What terrifying strength!
Standing over the fallen tyrant, Novak raised his foot and twisted his ankle. With a sickening crunch, flesh, blood, and fragments of bone sprayed out as the tyrant's body crumpled beneath him.
The tyrant, though biologically superior, stood no chance against Novak's relentless attack. Its chest caved in, its neck bone jutted out, and its head hit the ground with such force that a grotesque bloom of blood, flesh, and bone debris painted the street.
In the center of this grim "flower," Novak stood as the only living entity.
[Kill confirmed: Evolutionary virus elite body, 'Tyrant' slain. Experience gained: 2000 points.]
The experience wasn't insignificant, but Novak didn't care much for it. For him, levels and experience were trivial matters.
Ignoring the scattered drops from the kill, Novak's eyes locked onto the tyrant's massive arm claws. These were materials needed for 'Biochemical Disaster.'
With a few swift motions, Novak severed the tyrant's giant claws, tossing them into his evolutionary warehouse. Then, stretching out his hand, a wave of black and red tendrils enveloped the corpse, as the Blacklight Virus within Novak eagerly absorbed the tyrant's remains.
The Blacklight Virus coursed with excitement, refining its evolution points from the consumed mutant.
[Blacklight Virus has absorbed a special mutation complex. Evolution points gained: 8 points.]
[Blacklight Virus has devoured a special mutant. Evolution cost for branch upgrades reduced!]
The notifications confirmed Novak's enhanced strength as the virus continued to evolve. He glanced at the progress of his next evolution, which still required 11 points.
Novak shook his head, unimpressed by the relatively small gain. He then picked up the only remaining item.
[Claw Fist (Grade E)]
[Weapon: Fist and Claw]
[Agility +6, Strength +6]
[Indestructible: Claw armor penetration improved]
[Equipment Requirement: Level 5+]
[P.S.: You are… Wolverine!]
Novak glanced at the item briefly before dismissing it. The weapon was weak compared to his current gear. The only reason it seemed lackluster was because his Zombie Claw, made from blueprints, was overwhelmingly powerful. And besides, no ordinary person could equip such terrifying equipment due to its extreme requirements.
Reflecting on the battle, Novak realized something far more valuable than the spoils: the flu-like ability he wielded had proven unexpectedly useful. Though he could have killed the tyrant without it, the advantage it provided couldn't be denied. The strength of these abilities was not something he could take lightly.
The Blacklight Virus was just one branch of his SSS-grade talent, "Virus King." What more awaited him in the legendary viruses yet to be unlocked?
The thought made Novak itch with anticipation. He still had a significant number of evolution points stored from his time in the old sewers, but now wasn't the time to explore those upgrades.
Just as Novak stood up, a familiar voice rang out from above.
"Novak!"
Only a select group of people could still call him by that name after his rebirth.
Looking up, he saw the window had been opened, and several figures were waving down at him—his two roommates, Zamu and Gehn.
Novak raised an eyebrow. Though he had little attachment to his dormmates, he acknowledged they had always been decent people. There was no reason to ignore them now.
Glancing at the footprints he had left on the wall, Novak realized he hadn't bothered to conceal anything. With a swift leap, the blood-red tendrils covering his hands and feet helped him scale the wall in seconds.
The building that had kept the others trapped for days had taken Novak mere moments to overcome.
Inside the room, familiar faces greeted him. De M-anila University's influential figures—the elite of their campus—were all huddled together in this small hotel, staring at him in awe.
