Chapter 225: Maximum The Hormones : World Star VS Golden Cosmos(4)
Victoria leaned against the railings of the Golden Cosmos observation booth. Her gaze was distant, lost in a memory of another time, another arena.
Years ago, during her days at World Star, she recalled the younger Tamara's obsession with beastification, not just using it but mastering it to an unparalleled degree.
One day, after an intense training session, as she discussed with Victoria and Kallistra, she mentioned something strange.
"If we use the beast as an extension of our body, could the opposite be possible?"
The question had hung in the air, surprising both Victoria and Kallistra.
Back in the present, Victoria murmured softly,
"Tammy..."
Braun and Rylas let out primal roars, their voices shaking the very ground beneath them.
The two enormous dragons that loomed over the arena were monstrous, their presence dwarfing everything else.
Their scales shimmered with a dark, unnatural glow, and their eyes burned with unrestrained ferocity.
Mercury, Raya, and Catarina stood frozen, their jaw dropping as they stared at the beasts before them.
Mercury was the first to speak.
"This is... this isn't a beastification... Those are their strongest beasts."
Raya clenched her katana, her teeth grinding.
"But these things should be them. I can feel them clearly. Their souls... it's the ones we were fighting."
Catarina let out a desperate chuckle, her tail flicking nervously.
"Okay, cool, but... how do we even fight that?"
The dragons snarled, their mouths glowing as they prepared their devastating attacks.
Braun's massive maw gathered energy, forming an enormous yellow orb of searing light, while Rylas's numerous heads each conjured elemental spheres.
The young women could feel the air growing heavier as the dragons' attacks charged, creating violent gusts that whipped through the battlefield.
Mercury's hair swirled in the wind as she assessed the situation, her mind racing.
"We can't dodge this," she murmured. The size of the attacks made it clear. There was no escape.
Raya suddenly frowned, her aura flaring as she focused on the dragons.
"Wait. Their souls... their presence is... Yes, they're disappearing, I can feel it... Maybe... Maybe this won't last long? We might have a chance if we can handle just a little more."
Mercury's gaze remained fixed on the growing orbs of destruction.
"The problem," she said, "is staying up after just one of those attacks hits us."
She observed Braun, whose colossal yellow sphere now burned like a miniature sun, and Rylas, whose elemental spheres crackled with a rainbow of elements.
"There's nowhere to hide," she murmured, her hands clenching into fists. "So there's no reason to wait. We have to do something. These beasts are monsters... but our monsters are stronger."
Catarina's ears twitched, and she straightened slightly, Raya's grip on her katana tightened as she nodded.
Mercury's aura began to build, rippling outward like waves. The water from her field spell began to shift, converging into swirling bubbles that orbited her, glistening with a soft light.
"We've trained for this," Mercury said, her voice firm. "We deserve to be here. We deserve to fight among the strongest."
She used simultaneously the beastification with Zephyraquiel and Naiadira, the marks on her body glowed brighter, the energy within her surging.
The water around her continued to gather, forming a vortex of infinite bubbles that danced in the air, reflecting her growing power.
Her aura exploded outward, forcing the audience to lean forward in awe.
Raya's icy blue eyes opened, glowing with an intense light as her dragon charged a frost breath.
She raised her katana, its blade humming with energy as she prepared her attack. Catarina stood behind them, thinking about anything she could do.
The arena held its breath. In the World Star staff zone, Tamara's frown deepened as she stood, her arms crossed tightly. Farther away, Sia's mouth hung slightly open, her usual composure replaced with surprise.
Mercury's transformation continued, dragging more attention. The water from her field spell coalesced around her hands, swirling faster and faster as her aura pushed her limits.
Her body glowed, her marks spreading further as her beastification advanced to new heights.
She raised her arms, the water swirling around her, and her glowing eyes locked onto the dragons.
Raya smiled, her katana glowing like the jaw of Shirayukiryu.
"Open the path, we'll follow you."
For a moment, the world seemed to hold its breath, and then, the arena erupted into chaos as both sides unleashed their attacks.
Braun's colossal yellow orb detonated with a blinding flash, and Rylas's elemental spheres surged forward.
At the same time, Mercury unleashed a blast turning the battlefield into a saphire color and Raya slashed in several movements the three opponent directly, while Shirayukiryu blower his frost breath.
Their combined energy swept through the battlefield in a cataclysmic clash.
The explosion rocked the coliseum, shaking the ground and sending shockwaves through the air.
The crowd erupted into cheers and gasps, their voices drowned out by the deafening roar of the battle.
The arena was engulfed in chaos as a swirling mass of colorful energy ballooned outward, consuming everything in its path.
The energy blast was a living storm, growing larger and more destructive with every passing second.
The ground cracked and splintered, great chunks of stone tearing free and being hurled into the air. The air itself seemed to tremble, torn apart by the intensity of the clash.
A kaleidoscope of radiant hues painted the entire battlefield, blinding and breathtaking.
Mercury, her aura blazing, stood resolute at the heart of the maelstrom. Her hands stretched upward, streams of shimmering water converging around them, forming protective bubbles that swirled chaotically as they fought against the crushing force.
Her glowing eyes locked onto the monstrous energy bomb, even as her body trembled from the strain.
Her beastification marks pulsed with increasing intensity, spreading further across her skin.
To her right, Raya moved with precision and fury. Frost trailed her katana as she slashed the air, slashing from distance World Star beasts masters.
Her dragon's frost breath added its might to the fray, creating pockets of calm among the chaos.
Catarina, slightly behind them, clutched her sides, her face a mixture of terror and resolve.
She watched the bomb grow, expanding toward them like an unrelenting wave of doom. Her ears twitched as her eyes darted between her comrades and the incoming blast.
Her breath hitched, she didn't imagine another outcome than a failure here, she was sure they would be blasted, and so, she froze momentarily.
Her fingers hovered in a snapping position waiting for the inevitable.
The roar of the energy grew deafening. The ground beneath them buckled and shattered, unable to withstand the pressure.
The swirling energy turned the entire arena into a canvas of destruction. The shield protecting the audience vibrated violently but held firm, containing the devastation within.
In the stands, Zara shot to her feet, panic flashing across her face.
"Girls!" she screamed, her voice trembling.
Mercury clenched her jaw as the blast reached them. There was no time to dodge, only to endure. And then, it happened.
Find adventures at empire
The bomb detonated.
The explosion was cataclysmic. A titanic wave of energy expanded outward, consuming everything in its path. The arena floor was obliterated, torn apart by the raw force of the blast.
The energy storm reached the two dragons, swallowing them whole. The monstrous forms of Braun and Rylas' beastifications dissolved into the maelstrom, their roars lost amidst the chaos.
And then, the explosion reached Mercury, Raya, and Catarina. They braced themselves, as the blast consumed them, and at the last possible moment, Catarina's fingers snapped together.
Chunks of debris were hurled skyward, the air itself ignited with streaks of fire, water, lightning, and frost.
The entire arena was swallowed by a sea of blinding light and roaring destruction. The shield strained under the intensity but held firm.
The audience watched in stunned silence, their faces illuminated by the brilliance of the blast for seconds, and then, the light slowly faded.
The shock and intensity diminished revealing the arena after. The battlefield was now a wasteland of craters and scorched earth.
Smoke and steam rose from the devastation, obscuring the view as the audience collectively held their breath. But soon, a changé appeared.
Slowly, the forms of Braun, Rylas, and Elara emerged through the haze, battered but standing.
Braun's massive frame swayed slightly, his breathing labored but steady. Rylas looked worse for wear, but he, too, remained on his feet.
Elara stood beside them, her expression dazed but triumphant. The three of them surveyed the destruction, a terrible sight after the chaos that unfolded.
On Golden Cosmos' side, silence reigned, and soon, they could see the inevitable outcome. Mercury, Raya, and Catarina lay sprawled across the battlefield, unconscious.
The sight of their fallen comrades hit their teammates like a punch to the gut.
"It's over," Zara whispered, her voice barely audible.
The announcer's voice echoed through the arena, trembling with excitement.
[World Star 4-0 Golden Cosmos!]
The crowd erupted in a mix of cheers and gasps, the enormity of the battle leaving them in awe. Victoria lowered her head, closing her eyes briefly. She exhaled slowly, the game was over.
Eratz stared at the arena, his expression unreadable. His gaze flicked between the destruction and his fallen comrades. He didn't move, his posture rigid as if frozen in time. But then, he flinched.
A sudden blast struck Elara, catching everyone off guard. She screamed, the sound piercing the air as the attack tore her.
Braun and Rylas turned in shock, their eyes wide as they watched their teammate collapse to the ground, unconscious.
The crowd erupted in confusion, murmurs spreading like wildfire.
"What just happened?" someone shouted.
Rylas's eyes darted around the battlefield before realization struck him. His gaze snapped toward Catarina's unconscious body, his teeth clenched.
"The cat girl," he growled.
In the final moment of the explosion, Catarina had switched the damage meant for her and her teammates onto Elara, exploiting the fact that she lacked the monstrous resilience of Braun and Rylas.
The announcer's voice cracked through the confusion.
"Elara is out of battle, this count as the first point for Golden Cosmos!"
[World Star 4-1 against Golden Cosmos!]
The crowd began to rise, and did an ovation starting slow but quickly grew into a deafening roar.
Cheers and applause filled the arena as the audience paid tribute to the incredible display of strength and strategy from both teams.
On World Star's side, Leonidas frowned, his arms crossed as he watched the celebration.
"These guys…" he muttered. "They might be more trouble than I thought."
Victoria was torn by the result despite the effort of her agents, but allowed a small, sad smile to cross her lips as she joined the applause.
She understood the weight of the battle they had just witnessed, and she could only feel pride for their first experience at this level.
Tamara, standing among the World Star staff, remained still. She didn't clap or cheer. Her piercing gaze was fixed on Eratz, studying him intently.
Eratz, immobile, stared at the battlefield. His gaze held no anger, no sadness, not even determination.
He stood like a statue, frozen, his eyes locked on his fallen comrades as the score flickered on the big screen.
