Doctor and His Glamorous Sister-in-Law

Chapter 53 Engagement

Liu Ergou was just about to ask Xiaorou what had happened to make her so flustered. But the next second, without giving him a chance to speak, Xiaorou flung herself into his arms, buried her head in his chest, and began to cry.

This scene left Liu Ergou completely baffled. He really had no idea what was going on.

Meanwhile, Xu Yulan saw the scene unfold but didn't say anything. She simply smiled, picked up her hoe, and left. This made Liu Ergou a bit uncomfortable.

Looking at Xiaorou still crying in his arms, Liu Ergou firmly pulled her away. Then he asked gently, "Xiaorou, what's wrong? Why are you crying like this? Don't cry. Come on, tell me what happened, take your time."

At his words, Xiaorou finally managed to stifle her sobs.

"Brother Er Gou, I... My mom arranged an engagement for me! It's next month."

Liu Ergou was slow to register the news. "An engagement? Isn't that normal?" he said. "We're about the same age. It's common for people our age in the village to get engaged!"

Hearing this, Xiaorou, who had just calmed down, burst into loud sobs once more.

"SOB... That's not it, Brother Er Gou!" she wailed. "My mom wants me to marry an old bachelor in the village! He gave my mom a bride price of 100,000 yuan! And just like that, my mom sold me to him!"

Liu Ergou stood frozen, momentarily at a loss for words.

A bride price of 100,000 yuan to marry her own daughter off to an old bachelor? How could a mother be so cruel? This would ruin the rest of Xiaorou's life. But which old bachelor in the village was it? As far as I know, there are only three. One is the guy who's always fooling around with Widow Zhou. Another has some assets but is disabled, so no one wants to marry him. The last one is ancient; I'd guess he has to be over seventy. Looking at it this way, the candidate became pretty clear. But Xiaorou's family doesn't seem to be short on money. Why would they marry their daughter off to an old bachelor for 100,000 yuan?

While Liu Ergou was puzzling over this, Xiaorou, still weeping, began to unbutton his shirt. Her cries were utterly pathetic as her fingers worked on his clothes.

"Xiaorou, what are you doing?" Liu Ergou asked, hurriedly trying to stop her.

Xiaorou cried even harder. "SOB... Brother Er Gou, instead of being married off to some old bachelor, I'd rather give myself to you! At least you're strong and handsome. I refuse to give my first time to that old man!"

As she spoke, her hands went back to his shirt. Liu Ergou felt completely helpless. He was about to ask her for more details, but before he could even open his mouth, Xiaorou stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.

The kiss swallowed any words he was about to say. They stood locked together, suddenly inseparable. Xiaorou took the opportunity to shrug off her floral blouse, which came off easily. Beneath it, she wore white lace-trimmed underwear. Her fair neck was exposed, and her chest heaved with nervousness.

After what felt like a long time, they finally separated. Xiaorou's eyes were filled with a watery tenderness. "Er Gou, please, just take me. I don't want that old bachelor to have my first time!"

With those words, she pressed herself into his arms again, rubbing against him. Liu Ergou was already aroused, and her touch was like a spark on dry tinder. A fire ignited within him, spreading uncontrollably.

At that moment, Liu Ergou threw courtesy to the wind and was about to take her. But to his surprise, Xiaorou proactively grabbed his hands and placed them on her own body.

"Brother Er Gou," she whispered, her expression pitiful, "this is my first time. Please... please be gentle..."

His mind reeling, Liu Ergou instinctively nodded. He swept her up in a princess carry and started toward the room. However, after only a few steps, he suddenly came to his senses. He hurriedly grabbed her blouse from the ground and clumsily helped her put it back on.

Xiaorou was completely bewildered by his sudden change of heart and stared at him in a daze.

"Xiaorou, hurry and get dressed," Liu Ergou said, his tone serious. "We'll talk after your clothes are on, okay?"

Seeing how serious he was, Xiaorou didn't dare argue. She quickly slipped on her blouse, fastened the buttons, and smoothed her hair.

Just then, Liu Ergou said, "Xiaorou, trust me. I'll help you solve this matter, I..."

Before he could finish, a sharp, biting voice cut through the air.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? A man and a woman all alone in broad daylight. Aren't we being bold, having an affair right out in the open? Quite impressive!" the voice mocked. "That's youth for you!"

Liu Ergou instantly recognized the familiar voice—it was Wang Yanli.

Hearing Wang Yanli, Xiaorou panicked, not knowing what to do.

"Wang Yanli, shut your mouth!" Liu Ergou snapped. "She was just here to talk to me about something. Why do you have to twist everything?"

"That's slander! You can go to jail for that!"

Wang Yanli scoffed at his threat. "Oh, give me a break! Jail? You think you can scare me? I wasn't born yesterday! That's rich. Go on then, have me sentenced!" she taunted, walking right up to Liu Ergou's house.

The moment she arrived, Xiaorou lowered her head and fled without another word. She moved so quickly Liu Ergou couldn't even react.

Wang Yanli, however, looked completely unfazed. She watched Xiaorou's retreating back and shook her head.

"Tsk, tsk. That Li family's girl has it rough, sold off by her own mother for a hundred thousand yuan," she said. "If it were me, I'd raise hell. Daring to sell me for ten bucks? They must have a death wish!"
