Just as the lawyer finished his explanation, Mi Xiaoying, who was standing to one side, addressed the crowd. "My lawyer has explained all the terms in the contract. If you all understand and have no objections, please sign!"

However, as soon as her words fell, Liu Ergou immediately stood up. "Excuse me, President Mi," he asked abruptly. "I have one small question!"

"Regarding the terms this lawyer just explained, can you confirm that there are absolutely no falsifications?"

Mi Xiaoying was taken aback for a moment but quickly replied with a confident expression, "Rest assured, there will be absolutely no falsification! He may look young, but he is a top-rated lawyer! He has handled over a hundred cases since the start of his career and has only lost twice. Both of those losses were due to special circumstances!"

After receiving Mi Xiaoying's firm reassurance, Liu Ergou said nothing more, merely breaking into a strange, knowing smile.

This smile made Mi Xiaoying's heart flutter with panic. Why is he still able to smile at a time like this?

While Mi Xiaoying was still puzzled, Liu Ergou sat back down, picked up the contract, and signed his name with a few quick strokes. He then held up the contract and shouted, "Alright, President Mi, I've signed! There shouldn't be any problems now, right?"

Though Mi Xiaoying had been confused, her eyes lit up when she heard Liu Ergou had signed. She let out a secret sigh of relief. At that moment, Mi Xiaoying had only one thought. Now that Liu Ergou has signed the contract, everything he owns is mine for the taking. There's no way he can escape!

With this in mind, Mi Xiaoying ignored everyone else, hurried over to Liu Ergou, and snatched the contract from his hands.

Seeing Liu Ergou sign, the others present followed suit. Soon, everyone had signed their contracts, and Mi Xiaoying collected them all.

Once everything was done, Mi Xiaoying clutched the thick stack of contracts and addressed the crowd. "Alright, everyone! We've completed our initial strategic alignment. We will handle the subsequent arrangements, so you don't need to worry for now. We will notify you once everything is in place. You may all go home and rest now."

However, Liu Ergou showed no intention of leaving. Instead, he spoke up. "Hold on, President Mi. Don't you think that's a bit too perfunctory? We sign a contract, and you just send us home to wait? What if your subsequent arrangements take decades to get sorted out? Are we supposed to wait for tens of years?"

As Liu Ergou spoke, the others present finally realized the issue.

"Damn, how did I not think of that!"

"Yeah, exactly! If that's the case, didn't we sign this contract for nothing?"

"That's right! Looked at this way, we don't get any benefits at all!"

Standing beside Mi Xiaoying, Old Man Gongsun couldn't help but smile as he listened to the crowd's discussion. Today's whole setup was orchestrated by Liu Ergou, and everyone else here is just a pawn. Now that Liu Ergou has taken the bait, these people have served their purpose. Still, I should say a few reassuring words to avoid any unnecessary trouble.

With this in mind, Old Man Gongsun cleared his throat and addressed the crowd, "Rest assured, everyone. Even if you don't trust President Mi, surely you trust our Gongsun Family? Don't worry. The follow-up procedures, all told, will take a few months at most. So please, go home and wait for news!"

Since Old Man Gongsun himself had spoken, the others felt it was inappropriate to press the matter further. They simply nodded and departed one by one.

Soon, the meeting hall was nearly empty, leaving only Liu Ergou still sitting in his chair.

The reason he hadn't left was simple. Too many people are leaving at once. It's inconvenient to go with them. I'll just wait for the crowd to thin out before I leave.

After a little while, the hall was completely empty, save for Liu Ergou, Old Man Gongsun, and Mi Xiaoying. Seeing that everyone else was gone, Liu Ergou slowly rose, preparing to leave.

However, just as he stood up, before he could even take a step, Mi Xiaoying called out to him. "Liu Ergou, wait a moment! Can I have a private word with you?"

Liu Ergou initially wanted to refuse. But on second thought, he and Mi Xiaoying had only ever spoken over the phone; they'd never actually had a face-to-face conversation. Now that the opportunity was here, it didn't seem right to just brush it off. Thinking this, he nodded and walked over to her.

Liu Ergou didn't mince words. "President Mi, let's make this quick. I have other things to do. Just say it, why did you ask me to stay?"

A smile bloomed on Mi Xiaoying's face. She waved the contract in front of Liu Ergou's eyes and spoke in the tone of a victor. "Liu Ergou, I didn't stop you for anything complicated. I just wanted to tell you that now that you've signed the agreement, isn't it time you handed over all the ancient prescriptions and acupuncture techniques you know?"

Lu Shuangyue's heart skipped a beat as she heard Mi Xiaoying's words. It's exactly as Liu Ergou predicted. He wasn't wrong about a single thing.

However, Liu Ergou didn't overreact. He simply stated calmly, "So this is why you stopped me, President Mi. I thought it was something important. As for that, my answer is: no problem."

He paused, his expression turning serious. "However, President Mi, didn't that old man next to you just say there are procedures to follow? Everyone is supposed to contribute their ancient prescriptions and acupuncture techniques only *after* those procedures are complete. So, there's no rush. We'll talk about it when the time comes."

Mi Xiaoying was left speechless by his words. She stood there stunned for nearly a full minute before she could no longer hold it in and burst out laughing.
