Although Liu Yunxi didn't understand why Qin Xiaoyu was asking, she answered when she saw how anxious he looked. "Oh, my boyfriend farms in the village. What's wrong? Why the sudden question?"

Upon hearing the word "farms," Qin Xiaoyu's expression visibly soured. He quickened his pace, pulling Liu Yunxi along and leaving Liu Ergou behind. This only confused the already bewildered Liu Yunxi even more. She had no idea why he was acting this way.

Just as Liu Yunxi was trying to make sense of it all, Qin Xiaoyu finally spoke. "Yun Xi, you really shouldn't have brought your boyfriend to this reunion!"

"Huh? Why?" The look of confusion on Liu Yunxi's face deepened. She racked her brain but still couldn't figure out why Qin Xiaoyu would say such a thing.

Seeing her looking utterly baffled, Qin Xiaoyu sighed and explained, "Seeing you like this, I can tell you have no idea who organized this reunion. Let me tell you, this was specially put together by Young Master Sun from our class, all for you! I heard he's planning to confess his feelings to you tonight! But you brought your boyfriend. Isn't that just asking for a conflict?"

Hearing this, Liu Yunxi couldn't help but frown.

"Xiaoyu, that's not right!" she said, her brow furrowed. "So what if I have a boyfriend? Why can't I bring him? Just because he wants to confess to me, I'm not allowed to bring my own boyfriend? Does he expect me to just say yes? You saw what happened during our four years of university. No matter how many gifts he sent, I returned every single one. I never accepted a thing from him! Besides, you know about that incident. If there was ever even a sliver of a chance between us before, there is absolutely none now!"

Qin Xiaoyu sighed again after hearing her out. "Sigh, that's easy for you to say! But he just won't give up. What can you do? Yun Xi, listen to me. Ask your boyfriend to go home. His presence here changes everything!"

However, Liu Yunxi just shook her head. "No. He's my boyfriend. Why should I ask him to leave? It's good that he's here. This is the only way to make him give up for good!"

Hearing this, Qin Xiaoyu knew that nothing more he said would change her mind, so he just sighed again. He pushed the elevator button and stepped inside. Liu Ergou followed close behind, joining them.

Soon, the elevator arrived on the 25th floor. The three of them exited and headed straight for the private room. It was already filled with people, all chatting in low voices. The moment the three of them stepped inside, every eye in the room immediately fixed on them.

A chorus of greetings erupted.

"The beautiful Yun Xi is here!"

"Quick, go tell Young Master Sun that the beautiful Yun Xi has arrived!"

"Hey, beautiful Yun Xi, where have you been since graduation? We haven't heard from you at all!"

Liu Yunxi responded to the greetings with a smile, then pulled Liu Ergou and Qin Xiaoyu toward an empty spot and sat down.

They had barely settled in when a woman in a long, black lace one-piece dress approached their table.

With a scornful expression, she said, "Well, well, Liu Yunxi. You've finally arrived. You really are putting on airs, making all of us wait for you!"

Liu Yunxi didn't even bother to look up, not sparing the woman a single glance. Instead, it was Liu Ergou who asked curiously, "Yun Xi, is she a classmate of yours, too?"

Liu Yunxi nodded. "Yes. Her name is Zhang Man."

Liu Ergou's sudden question naturally drew Zhang Man's attention. She looked him up and down with a disdainful sneer. "Liu Yunxi, don't tell me this man is your boyfriend. Tsk tsk tsk, you really have no taste. I can't see for the life of me how he's any better than Young Master Sun! Young Master Sun pursued you so hard, and you turned him down, only to end up with someone like this! Who would have thought! You know, your boyfriend looks awfully familiar. I feel like I've seen him somewhere before."

She paused, feigning deep thought. "Let me think... Ah, I remember now! Isn't your boyfriend some migrant worker you hired from a construction site for a hundred bucks? Tsk tsk tsk!"

Zhang Man's words dripped with mockery. However, Liu Yunxi had no intention of engaging with her, treating her as if she were thin air.

But Zhang Man's words had gotten under Liu Ergou's skin. "Excuse me for interrupting," he said. "I'm not someone Yun Xi hired. I'm her actual boyfriend. And I'm not a migrant worker; I'm a farmer."

The word "farmer" left Zhang Man stunned. It took her a long moment to process it, and when she did, she burst out laughing, bending over forwards and backwards.

"Hahaha, a farmer! That's even worse than a migrant worker!" she shrieked through her laughter. By now, she was laughing so hard that tears were streaming down her face.

"I told you before to just stay in the city and find a job after graduation, but you wouldn't listen! You insisted on striking out on your own, and look at you now! You can't even find a normal boyfriend, and in the end, you settled for a farmer. What an absolute embarrassment!"

Although Liu Yunxi kept trying to ignore her, Zhang Man's words were too hateful. Liu Yunxi clenched her teeth, fighting to control her anger. She wanted to retort, but she was terrible at arguing and knew she wouldn't win against Zhang Man. All she could do was force herself to continue ignoring her.

However, just because Liu Yunxi remained silent didn't mean Liu Ergou would.

"Excuse me, classmate, but what's wrong with being a farmer? Do you look down on us that much? If there were no farmers, what would you eat or drink? Have you become an immortal who can live on just wind and dew? If you're so incredible, why don't you just ride a cloud and ascend to the heavens? Why are you still here, acting like a gossipmonger and meddling in everyone's business? Don't you think that's pathetic? Is this really all you learned in four years of university? If it is, then I truly feel sorry for your parents. I can't imagine they spent all that money just to raise someone so ill-bred!"

Liu Ergou's speech made Zhang Man's face turn green. She opened her mouth, clearly wanting to say more, but when her eyes met Liu Ergou's, she froze.
