Chapter 244: Resolution
"Third Master, I won't beat around the bush. I came to ask for your help. Do you see the man in front of me?"
Hearing Liu Ergou's words, Third Master Zhang followed his pointing finger. At first glance, he saw the Sixth Master standing there, drenched in a cold sweat.
"I see him. What's this about, Divine Doctor?" Third Master Zhang asked in confusion. "Did this person offend you? If that's the case, then leave it to me, I'll make sure to..."
Third Master Zhang hadn't finished his words when Liu Ergou interrupted him.
"No, no, no, Third Master, don't get me wrong! This person hasn't offended me. I'm just a bit too curious. He told me his name is Sixth Master. He claims to be the one in charge of this town, so I was wondering... since he's the Sixth Master and you're the Third Master, could you be brothers? If he happens to be your brother and I were to lay a hand on him, wouldn't that be a case of 'the great flood washing over the Dragon King's temple,' with family not recognizing family?"
Liu Ergou spoke tactfully, but Third Master Zhang, seasoned in the ways of the world, instantly understood his meaning.
"I see!" Third Master Zhang nodded, then turned his head to look at the Sixth Master standing there.
When the Sixth Master saw Third Master Zhang looking at him, he subconsciously turned his head away, leaving only the back of his head in view. This puzzled Third Master Zhang. Although he had made a name for himself, it wasn't to the point where people didn't dare to look him in the eye.
Curiosity got the better of Third Master Zhang, and he quickly walked over for a closer look. After seeing the man's face, his expression darkened instantly.
"Xiao Liu?"
Hearing the name, the Sixth Master subconsciously shrank his neck, a look of fear on his face. Seeing this reaction, Third Master Zhang confirmed he hadn't mistaken the man. Without any hesitation, he grabbed the Sixth Master by the collar.
In a cold voice, he said, "Xiao Liu, what did I tell you back then? Didn't I tell you to get out of this city and to never let me see you here again? I told you if I ever saw you again, I would cripple you. It seems you didn't take my words to heart at all!"
The Sixth Master, who had looked terrified just a moment ago, seemed emboldened by Third Master Zhang's words. The fear in his expression vanished, replaced by rage.
"Damn it, Zhang! Let me tell you! The past is the past, and now is now! You can't touch me anymore. Do you have any idea who's backing me?"
Standing to the side, Liu Ergou couldn't help but roll his eyes. The line sounded awfully familiar; hadn't he just heard it a moment ago? He was truly at a loss for words.
Upon hearing such defiance, Third Master Zhang showed no courtesy and punched him squarely in the face. Although Third Master Zhang was getting on in years, he put all his strength into that punch. The solidly built Sixth Master was knocked to the ground with a single blow.
Afterward, Third Master Zhang cracked his knuckles and returned to his spot. Looking down at the Sixth Master on the ground, he said coldly, "Get lost. I'll say it again—don't let me see you anymore! This is your last chance. The next time I see you, I will cripple you for good!"
As he spoke these last words, a murderous intent radiated from him, making it clear he wasn't joking. Cai Qiang, who stood behind Liu Ergou, watched this scene without any change in his expression, as if Third Master Zhang didn't even exist.
The Sixth Master, knocked to the ground, said no more. He immediately pulled out his phone to call for help. Soon, the Sixth Master had finished his call, his confidence clearly boosted.
He looked at Third Master Zhang and said, "Zhang San, do you really think you're so powerful just because you're a local big shot? Do you have any idea who I work for? The man I work for is a mighty dragon! You think you..."
The Sixth Master hadn't finished speaking when Third Master Zhang cut him off.
"So what if he's a dragon? This is my turf! Besides, haven't you heard the saying, 'a mighty dragon can't crush a local snake'?! It looks like this dragon of yours is on his way. I'm eager to see just which dragon it is!"
After saying this, Third Master Zhang returned to Liu Ergou's side and began chatting casually with him, acting as if he didn't have a care in the world for the Sixth Master and his men. Meanwhile, a crowd had already gathered, three layers deep, all here to watch the show. After all, such excitement was extremely rare.
Time ticked by. But instead of a person arriving, a phone call came through. Suddenly, the Sixth Master's phone rang. He hurriedly answered and whispered a few words. His face darkened at a visible rate before he reluctantly handed the phone to Third Master Zhang.
"What do you want?" Third Master Zhang asked into the phone coldly. "Hmph, I don't care who you are, or which Young Master Yuan or Young Master Fang is backing you! When you're on my turf, you play by my rules! Stop threatening me. Bring on whatever you've got; I want to see just how tough you are!"
Third Master Zhang spoke into the phone for quite a while before tossing it back to the Sixth Master.
The Sixth Master caught the phone and quickly put it to his ear. After he finished listening, an unwilling expression washed over his face. He shot Liu Ergou a fierce glare, then hung up and turned to leave.
Before he could take a step, however, Liu Ergou called out to him.
"Wait. Who said you could go?"
The Sixth Master turned back and stared at Liu Ergou, his eyes filled with silent hatred. But Liu Ergou ignored it and said bluntly, "I almost forgot. You need to sort out that mess with the old woman your men beat up. Don't ask me why. Your subordinate implicated me for no reason, so you can clean it up!"
Hearing this, the Sixth Master was so furious his eyeballs nearly popped out, but he was helpless. The person on the phone had just told him that they couldn't afford to mess with Third Master Zhang's crew for the time being. Besides, this whole incident was the result of his own arrogance. The order was to get back immediately and clean up his own mess, leaving no loose ends.
Although the Sixth Master was resentful, he had to obey the orders from his superior. He could only turn to his men and say angrily, "Whichever idiot caused this trouble better clean it up! I don't care how, but if it isn't sorted out, I guarantee he won't see the light of day tomorrow!"
With that, the Sixth Master turned, got back into his car, and drove off immediately. All that remained was Boss Zhao, standing there like a wooden chicken, looking at Liu Ergou in terror.
