Doctor and His Glamorous Sister-in-Law

Soon, Liu Ergou had returned home. By the time he arrived, Xu Yulan had already prepared the meal.

During dinner, Xu Yulan asked curiously, "Er Gou, what did Wu Guifang want with you? I remember she used to look down on you more than anyone."

"Why would she suddenly come to see you? Something seems fishy."

Hearing his sister-in-law's words, Liu Ergou's heart skipped a beat, but he quickly composed himself.

"It's like this, Sister-in-law," he explained. "Wu Guifang came about the wasteland. She has a niece who wants me to partner with her to grow corn instead of herbs. So, she sent Wu Guifang to try and persuade me. That's pretty much it."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yulan finally understood. "Oh, so that's what it was! I was wondering why she'd come looking for you out of the blue. It was about this!"

"Still," she added, "I feel like if they really wanted to persuade you, they should have sent her niece over. That would have been more effective. I don't get why they sent Wu Guifang instead."

Liu Ergou just shrugged, indicating he didn't know either.

Afterward, the two of them chatted idly for a bit before focusing on their dinner.

In the blink of an eye, the meal was over. Xu Yulan picked up the empty bowls and went to the kitchen to wash them. While she was at the sink, the corner of her eye caught a small basin sitting on the side. Suddenly remembering something, she grabbed it and immediately walked out to hand it to Liu Ergou.

Looking at the small basin Xu Yulan was handing him, Liu Ergou was baffled.

"Huh? Sister-in-law, what are you giving me a small basin for?" he asked. "You're not suggesting I go out and beg, are you?"

Hearing his ridiculous remark, Xu Yulan gave him a huge eye-roll. "Begging? Can't you ever say anything nice?" she said irritably. "This basin belongs to Feng Chunling next door. Hurry up and return it to her."

Liu Ergou instantly understood and decisively refused.

"Let's forget it, Sister-in-law. It's way too late tonight. I'll take it over to her tomorrow."

"She lives there alone, so it's not really appropriate for a grown man like me to go over now. We can deal with it tomorrow."

With that, Liu Ergou tried to make a run for his bedroom. But before he could even take a step, Xu Yulan grabbed his ear in a firm grip.

She scolded irritably, "What on earth is going through that head of yours? She's a woman in her forties, and how old are you? You're only in your twenties! What, do you think she's going to eat you alive for returning a basin? Besides, she might not even be home tomorrow during the day. You know how she likes to wander around!"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou couldn't help but roll his eyes dramatically.

What a joke! There's no way that woman Feng Chunling won't be home tomorrow. She's already laid a trap for me and is just waiting for me to walk right into it. Going during the day would be playing right into her hands. If I went at night, she'd be grinning from ear to ear. I absolutely cannot let her succeed.

His eyes darted around as he quickly thought of a good excuse.

"Sister-in-law, look, it's late, so Feng Chunling is definitely home right now. Why don't you do me a favor and return the basin for me?"

Since he put it that way, Xu Yulan couldn't really refuse. She nodded, took the basin, and headed next door to Feng Chunling's house.

Seeing this, Liu Ergou let out a long sigh of relief. I've managed to escape this ordeal.

However, before he could even get back to his bedroom, Xu Yulan came rushing back, basin in hand and fuming.

The moment she saw Liu Ergou, she snapped, "That Feng Chunling is just too much! Her lights were clearly on, but no matter how much I knocked, she refused to open the door. She's being completely unreasonable!"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou's internal alarms went off. It looks like that woman Feng Chunling is dead set on getting me. Other than me, no one can deliver this basin to her.

While Liu Ergou was mulling this over, Xu Yulan simply shoved the basin at him.

"Er Gou, you'll have to return it. I'm out of ideas. If you can't give it back either, then just throw it away!"

After speaking, Xu Yulan turned on her heel and left.

Staring at the basin in front of him, Liu Ergou couldn't help but let out a long sigh. Feng Chunling was definitely not someone to be trifled with.

But! Even if she was difficult, that wasn't going to scare him.

I have to confront her properly today. I need to see what exactly she's up to, insisting that I deliver this basin. I've already told her everything that needed to be said. I just don't understand what she's trying to do!

With this in mind, Liu Ergou took a deep breath, picked up the basin, and turned toward Feng Chunling's house.

Within a few steps, he arrived and knocked on her main gate.

"Auntie, open up!" he shouted. "I've come to return your basin!"

As soon as his voice fell, Feng Chunling's voice came from inside. "Just a second, Er Gou, I'll be right there!"

Hearing her response, Liu Ergou rolled his eyes. I knew it. This woman is definitely targeting me.

As he was thinking, Feng Chunling arrived and opened the gate. Liu Ergou acted quickly, holding out the basin to her.

"Auntie, here's your basin. I won't come in. I need to get home to sleep; I've got things to do tomorrow."

Finished speaking, Liu Ergou turned to leave.

However, Feng Chunling raised both hands, a helpless look on her face. "Er Gou, look at my hands. They're all covered in ash. I'm in the middle of lighting the fire!"

"Just quickly help me bring the basin inside."

After saying that, she gave Liu Ergou a tempting smile, then turned and walked back into the house, swaying her hips.

Watching her swaying form, Liu Ergou couldn't help but curse silently. This woman is far too cunning. Why would anyone be lighting a fire in this heat? It's obvious she dirtied her hands on purpose to force me into her house.

Thinking this, Liu Ergou took a deep breath and strode boldly into Feng Chunling's courtyard.

What he never expected was that as soon as he stepped inside, Feng Chunling, who had been walking ahead, suddenly turned back. She went to the gate and, with a swift motion, slid the bolt shut.

Then, she turned back to Liu Ergou with a smile. "Go on in first, Er Gou!"
