Doctor and His Glamorous Sister-in-Law

Seeing Lu Shuangyue's confident expression, Liu Ergou didn't say anything further. He stood with her, and they watched the herb-gathering team head up the mountain.

After the entire team had ascended, Lu Shuangyue suddenly sighed.

"Sigh..."

Hearing her sigh, Liu Ergou instinctively asked, "What's wrong? Shuang Yue, why the sudden sigh? Are you worried about the herb-gathering team?"

Lu Shuangyue shook her head. "They're professionals who have all gone through occupational training. I'm not worried about them. The only thing I'm worried about is the time. Ten days is just too short. If I had another five days, I could definitely gather a full ton of medicinal herbs!"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou said nothing, simply standing quietly by her side.

Time flew, and soon it was evening.

For the entire day, Lu Shuangyue remained seated in the camp. She didn't leave for meals or even to use the restroom, as if she were afraid of missing something important. This made Liu Ergou quite concerned about her state.

An hour or so after dark, the herb-gathering team finally returned from the mountain.

Lu Shuangyue, who had been sitting quietly on a stool, immediately stood up upon seeing the team and walked briskly toward them, her expression a mixture of anxiety and anticipation.

Liu Ergou naturally knew what she was worried about—that there would be no medicinal herbs on the mountain. As for her anticipation, it was obviously the hope that the team would return with a bountiful harvest.

The herb-gathering team soon met up with Lu Shuangyue.

The moment they met, she asked, "How was your harvest today? Are the medicinal resources on the mountain abundant? And do the herbs meet our specifications?"

Before she could finish, the team leader said excitedly, "Manager Lu, we had a huge haul today! Come on, let's head back to the camp to discuss it!"

Hearing this, Lu Shuangyue seemed to let out a huge sigh of relief and followed the team back to the camp.

As soon as they got back, the team leader couldn't wait to set down his back-basket and show Lu Shuangyue the day's harvest.

"Manager Lu, take a look! This is what we gathered today! We had a really substantial haul!"

The team leader picked up an herb and continued, "Manager Lu, look at this. You originally requested ten-year-old herbs, but this one in my hand is at least twenty years old. While that's only a ten-year difference, its medicinal effects are several times more potent! Not only that, but this is the case for most of the herbs on the mountain, and the reserves are incredibly abundant! I'm confident that gathering a ton within ten days won't be a problem at all!"

Hearing this, Lu Shuangyue let out a long breath, her furrowed brow finally smoothing out.

The moment she relaxed, the accumulated fatigue of the entire day washed over her. Losing her footing, she started to fall backward.

Liu Ergou reacted instantly, reaching out to catch her and hold her securely in his arms.

"Shuang Yue, are you okay?" he asked, his face filled with concern.

She shook her head and struggled to her feet out of his embrace. "It's nothing, I'm fine. I was just so tense that when I finally relaxed, my body couldn't take the sudden change."

With that, she burrowed right back into Liu Ergou's arms. She said happily, "This is great, Er Gou! We're finally saved! I won't have to pay that astronomical breach-of-contract fee! This is wonderful!"

Seeing how happy she was, Liu Ergou felt happy as well.

Just then, while still in his arms, Lu Shuangyue seemed to realize what she was doing. She hurriedly struggled out of his embrace, her face visibly flushing as red as an apple. She stood there for a good while, trying to compose herself.

Then, she turned to the harvesting team and said, "Okay, this is fantastic news! You said the mountain has plenty of herbs, so how many days will it take to gather one ton? The company urgently needs this batch!"

The team leader fell into deep thought at her question. After contemplating for several minutes, he finally spoke.

"Well... to ensure the quality of the herbs, collecting that much—a full ton—will take at least half a month. Any less than that just won't be enough."

Lu Shuangyue froze on the spot.

Half a month? Fifteen days? But... I only have ten days. How is that possible?

At this thought, she felt a headache coming on, unsure of what to do. But for now, the best thing to do is just take it one step at a time.

With this in mind, she didn't say anything else. Instead, she had everyone gather the herbs they had collected to see what the day's total haul was.

Soon, the herbs were all collected. When weighed, the day's harvest came to a full 100 jin. While the number seemed large, it was still a far cry from a ton. Lu Shuangyue, however, tried not to dwell on it and dismissed the team to rest. Today was only the first day, she told herself. There's still time. I can't rush things. With that thought, she went to rest.

Meanwhile, Liu Ergou snuck quietly into her room, completely unnoticed by her.

Inside her room, Lu Shuangyue heaved a long sigh and lay down on the bed.

Just then, Liu Ergou stepped forward and embraced her. The sudden contact gave Lu Shuangyue such a fright that she nearly leaped up. Fortunately, she quickly realized it was Liu Ergou.

"What are you doing, sneaking in here like that?!"

"Honestly, you scared me half to death! If I hadn't realized it was you, I would have started screaming for help!" As she spoke, she rolled her eyes dramatically.

Seeing her roll her eyes, Liu Ergou chuckled. "What's there to be afraid of? I saw how worried you were, so I came to help you relieve your stress."

A look of confusion appeared on her face. "Relieve my stress? How do you plan on doing that, Er Gou?"

Seeing her puzzled expression, a mischievous smile spread across Liu Ergou's face. He then gave her bottom a firm smack.

"How else? Like this, of course! So, how about it?"
